Title: Anyone else find this frustrating?
Post by: Elijah3291 on May 07, 2010, 03:06:39 PM

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1274006/Chers-gender-swap-son-Chaz-Bono-officially-man.html (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1274006/Chers-gender-swap-son-Chaz-Bono-officially-man.html)

This is an article about Chaz, Cher's transgendered son.

These were some of the comments below about him.  I am not upset because I like Chaz... i don;t know anything about him.  I'm just mad because I am a trans man too, and this is how many people feel, and it pisses me off!

He was a cute girl, but is one butt-ugly man. Whatever...............

She is not a man just a mutilated woman, sad. Just because it feels good does not make it right.

I think it is unbelieveably sad that this person could not find happiness as a beautiful young woman, which Chastity Bono was. I pray that as "Chaz", and having gone to such extreme lengths to become a "man", he is not disappointed. S/he seems like a nice person, deserving some peace. Too bad s/he couldn't be happy as God made her. I hope this helps.

Riddle me this: Since Chaz was dating a Lesbian and now he is a man are they planning to break up or is Chaz's girlfriend not a Lesbian any more?

It's very sad. But I suppose having Cher for a mother would lead one to believe that surgery was the cure for everything. But underneath all the scar tissue and cosmetics, Cher is an old Armenian-American woman and "Chaz" is a fat girl.

No, this Chaz thing is most assuredly not a man; what it is is a surgically-mutilated woman. It NEVER was a man and it will NEVER be a man...

Comments like that depress the hell out of me. I don't read any daily fail comments anymore.

Yeah that really pisses me off. I did modeling when I was a "girl" - I was very "attractive" had extremely thick, long, beautiful hair that EVERYONE loved,  and I was anorexic. Everyone thought I was soooo pretty though. How could I possibly go through a transition and throw all that VANITY away?

ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

It's a blessing to be trans because we are much more aware of the inner world but its hard as hell living in a world so stuck on visual definitions. It makes me wonder about the personal feelings of the people who commented on this article... like how aware are they REALLY of their own feelings? IGNORANCE IS SUCH A STRONG FUEL FOR SO MANY PEOPLE TO RUN ON.

I remember when Mum was watching this documentary about Cher, and Chaz (Chastity at the time) was talking about being lesbian. Seeing this now, it's obvious there was more going on.

Cher seems to have handled it pretty well, which is great. Shame about some of the commenters - ugh! >:( (Oh, and BTW, the reason Cher flipped out was because she was the last to know - the media got there first.)

I try not to read comments at mainstream news sites or Youtube. They're bad for my mental health.

I do, so I don't really bother to read those kinds of stories.

Yeah, I get that "too bad, you make such a pretty girl." I wish I could let people in and show them how much this pisses me off.

The Daily Mail has a reputation in the UK for blowing things out of proportion. They enjoy being outraged and complaining about anything and anyone that is too liberal for their liking. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that a lot of people in this country consider it a joke of a newspaper, with readers who are about as intelligent as three slices of bread. IGNORE IT!

When I find some article about trans people I always read it. In newspapers or online.
And comments as well.

At first it used to bother me a lot, but now - I just don't care.  8)
Why would I get upset over some stupid comments like that?
They can say whatever they want - they do not have to live our lives. I just wish if they could live a day in a wrong body...

Nein, a day is not enough. If I only had to be female for a day it wouldn't be a problem. The problem is the years and my future. I bet a day-long sex change would amuse most people.

You are probably right.
I'll change that to - a couple of years...  >:-)

It's upsetting, but like has already been said - it's just best to ignore people like that.  Haters are everywhere - but especially online where they have less restraint about what they say and less care about whom they hurt.

I try not to read or watch the news of any kind, its all depressing. Although those comments are rude and insensitive, they didn't bother me too much because all I can think about is how ignorant they are.

The comments in and of themselves don't do nothing to me other than make me roll my eyes and go "ugh.. some people are just stupid"...

and then I see that the "rating".

Hundreds of people have voted these things "Up"!

*goes through the list, methodically voting DOWN every transphobic comment!*

If you click "worst rated" you find these gems!

Good luck to Chaz. The surgery involved is a painful road to travel for those changing sex (of either kind) and it's not a fashion statement.

It takes a lot of courage, time and soul searching to do, so the bitter and cowardly snipers should think before they attack.

I wish him well - it's a shame not everyone can be happy for Chaz as this is what he wants and he can finally be happy.

I'm so glad that Chaz had the courage to go ahead with his gender reassignment surgery; now he can be at peace in his own body. I wish him the very best for the future, be happy Chaz, you're a lovely guy.

Cute face. He reminds me of John Candy. Hope he is really happy.

Congratulations! Enjoy the official beginning of your new life!

I learned the "don't read the comments" rule early on when it comes to anything I care about.  Religion, LGBT stuff, certain political issues-- anything that's really emotional for me.  People just aren't going to agree with us 100% of the time and, especially on the internet, they tend to be real jerks about their opinions.  It just makes me so mad and being that they're just annoyomous internet people there's nothing I can do about it, I just don't read them to begin with.

Transitioning would be hard enough, but transitioning in the limelight of the media...*shudders*

Frustrating? Nah. Just another illustration of how brain-dead our world has become? Yep, that's dead-on.

I love the following comment: "If she wants to pretend she's a guy I respect that, but guess what, she'll never really be a guy. Just a woman that has had surgery. Same applies to any male that has had surgery to become 'female' - until they can reproduce, in Chaz case produce sperm, they are still their 'original' sex. Sorry - just facts."

Yeah, this dude is totally correct. We can't produce sperm, so we can't be real men. Furthermore, any man who has had to have his prostate and/or testicles removed for medical reasons is no longer a man. A woman who has a hysterectomy to prevent cancer from eating her body is no longer a woman. I'm sorry. I've had it wrong, all along. I'll go hide in my hole now.

Ever noticed how the most factually inaccurate posts tend to be the ones that end in "sorry - just facts"?

If you want to be offended, see if they have anything about it on The Sun website. They are the absolute masters of witty insults.

Stuff like this doesn't really bother me. It's nothing personal on their part, just something they don't understand.

Or a couple decades. That would shut them the hell up.

As for the online comments- people in general are stupid. When people don't understand something they sometimes post stupid and ignorant things. Their stupid and ignorant thoughts, actions and lives will bite them in the butt one day. I almost pity their ignorance. Almost.
