Westonite Kathy McFarland knew transgender advocate Donna Rose when she was David Rosen, the unassuming, quiet star athlete at Kenmore High School in Kenmore, N.Y.
Three-and-a-half decades later, McFarland watched as Donna Rose spoke about her experiences to a captive audience Saturday in the community room at City Hall for Transgender Day of Awareness, a Triangle Community Center-sponsored event.
