Do you wear it?
Love it? Hate it? Scents you've tried and liked? Scents to stay away from. Were there any that smelled nice pre-t that changed into something yuck afterward? Anything that smelled yuck before T, but smells lovely now?
I'm almost embarassed to say that I love: I am King, and Roca 9 1X. I've tried all the super popular smells though and they just turn to something barfy when they hit my skin.
Anything that someone can smell when they don't have their face buried in my neck is a major turn off. Scent to me is a personal thing and I don't like the thought of "inhaling" other people from ten feet away.
I am female but I love the smell of Lagerfeld on men.
I have a lot of allergies to perfumes where my eyes will start to water. I used to use Ed Hardy for men (cause I love being a douchebag) until the bottle fell because SOMEBODY used it and put it on the wrong shelf so when the door closed the bottle fell. I couldn't use the bathroom for two weeks.
I go natural or on occasion use an Old Spice scented deodorant.
I consider myself an MTF, but when I am in male mode to hide my true identity I use colognes that I think work perfectly. The ones I use that don't come off to strongly (only a hint will do) is Abercrombie Fierce, the Adidas body cologne, and this Armani one (it is the heavier one rather the lighter one they offer). The key may be is to use it sparingly. Another thing that I found, is the position of the body that the cologne is applied to. If I want to appear like the male I am physically, I shoot a shot of cologne between the chest and the neck, and then one at the small of my back. Usually, I am two feet away from the bottle. 2 hits of cologne usually does the job right for maleness. Also, apply the cologne beneath your shirt. This, in my own objective opinion, lets the cologne seeps out of your clothes, and provides for better endurance of your smell so you don't have to keep on applying the cologne. I hope these tips provide a better, sexier male fragrance :)
Forallitook
PS: For me, I am hoping to not use these tips that much again... But, was hoping to help you out :)
Nope, didn't really care for it as female and I don't now. I try not to smell bad though, most don't appreciate my sweat. Deoderant, preferably with no scent (even if I know it only exists in theory.)
I wear it. I use a single sparing spray or daub to the bare chest, before any clothing is worn. It lets the skin chemistry do its thing and for the most part only hints of it waft out when I move. I've always favoured scents that tend to get classified as "male" (woodsy, musky, citrusy). Mind you, I'm kind of a foo-foo metrosexual.
I use Old Spice. It makes me feel extra manly.
I used to. Now i wear nothing .
I wear addidas dare
I love it and so does my bf lol
its kinda a sweet but masculine scent
Nope, I don't wear it. Personally I can't stand perfume or cologne. I've never smelled one I thought smelled good, and I have respiratory issues so it makes me choke. Unscented deoderant for me, too.
I use Hollister Jake. They spray all their clothes with it and after I bought a hoody there I had to go back and buy the cologne :)
I just wear Lynx.
But I really want this, cause I'm that much of a loser lol.

I have to admit I LOVE the smell of Axe Kilo, bu I won't wear it because I don't want to smell like a middle school kid. :-\ I use the bodywash, though. Before sort of coming out to myself (when I was still in my "try to be girly" stage) I was really into Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab which makes natural, I think vegan perfume oils. I've got several hundred dollars worth of oils in my room, most of which I can't wear anymore because they're a bit girly (although nothing flowery or anything). There's one scent though that has a nice musky leather scent that I think is very manly and I love their Catholic incense scented oil which I think is pretty unisex. I might start trying some of their other scents that are recommended for men.
I just wash with Axe Kilo, and use their hair styling paste sometimes. I'm dubious about actual cologne just because I'm not on T so I don't think my skin chemistry reacts with it properly.
i have an entire shelf full. Favourites at minute are
Aramis
Addiction
Blue Jeans
Mandate
and Gilette Cool Wave
I wash with AXE products and use their hair products and I am trying out the new Twist deodorant. I usually use AXE clix deodorant. I love cologne. I have been using CO Bigelow Elixir Black since I found it. It smelled amazing pre-T and smells even better now.
I have several different kinds of colognes I wear depending on what I wanna smell like. :P I have no idea what any of them are named. I don't get the uber expensive brands so yeah...
I wear Axe Dark Temptation body spray and deodorant. I personally like the smell and get compliment all the time..
*Walks past a group of girls in the hall* "Mmmmm he smells good." or "Omg he smells good and is hot!" "That's a girl" /killjoy
But seriously even one of my male friends (straight btw) said something one day "Damn that cologne smells good!"
Love it. I wear whatever smells good to me. I love ed hardy, but right now I have some cheap stuff from the dollar store that's supposed to smell like some pricey cologne...I don't really care as long as I like the smell.
I used to wear CK Be, I believe, the black one, way back before &it smelled rly good on me. But I haven't been able to afford it since. Lately, I've been wearing Curve Wave &haven't gotten any complaints.
:]
When im in between buying new cologne, I wear axe since its wayy cheaper. I've tried em all.
I personally like having someone smell me when I walk by, not just by hugging me. I want to smell good, but not overpowering. So I like strong scents, and to me, axe fades quickly. I have to reapply it throughout the day. I want something that I can just spray once &it lasts forever lol.

Im thinking about trying something from Hollister, cause everytime I walk in there it smells amazing.
Adidas is surprisingly nice and quite cheap so I like it for everyday wear. Ice Dive is my favourite, Blue Challenge and Dynamic Pulse are also good. I haven't really smelled the others. All the nicer ones I have are Calvin Klein. I have CK One, CK Be, CK in2u and a discontinued summer version of CK in2u. Calvin Klein Crave smells amazing but I haven't got that, it's top of the list though.
Also, most of the Nivea for men deodorants smell really nice.
I love smelling good! I'm with ccc, I want people to smell me when I walk past them and think I smell good. I've been using CK in2u for a while now and love it, but it doesn't last as long as I would like. I've heard Armani Code is really good...I'm looking for something semi-cheap but long lasting too...open to suggestions!
I'm wanting to sample armani code. I don't like the idea of blind buying a 70 dollar cologne. I keep hearing great things about it. Though I hear great things about Green Irish Tweed as well, and it smells like crushed sweet tarts when it hits my skin, so meh.
I agree, Rowan, I'm a cheapskate so I don't want to buy it blind either. Some of my mates have it though so I'm going to have to check it out. Lol @ crushed sweet tarts...mmm lol.
I love Old Spice regular. I would wear my Dad's Old Spice as a child and always liked the smell. I love spicy, earthy smells but nothing too strong. Most colognes now are too strong smelling and have too much perfume. I prefer the subtle approach.
I'm attached to my Axe. ;D I don't like anything else.
I have favorite colognes, but I'm too broke to actually buy bottles of it.. so I go to sephora or some other store that has samples of it, and just get the samples once in a while :D
My favorites are Lacoste Essential, Lacoste Challenge, CK BE, and a couple others I've forgotten the names of.. very designer stuff.. haha.. there was one by Dolce & Gabanna, one by Versace, and one by Lancome.
I like to smell nice

Hehe I have an entire bottle of Lacoste Essential just sitting in a basket by my desk. Been sprayed twice. That stuff... really didn't agree with me.
=O
Omigod. I'm SOOO jealous! XD
Check good old Target near father's day. They should have all their colognes on sale again.
I have D&G light blue whichis ok, I've gone off it over time a bit and have recently bought Jean Paul Gaultiers 'le male' which I really really like. I put it on even when just at home so I can smell it through the day I like it that much!!
Oh! I completely forgot about Jean Paul Gaultiers Le Male! I've never had a bottle of it but whenever I see a tester of it I have a spray of it  . I am a shops worst nightmare lol. I'm definately going to get Le Male asap.

Unfortunately, we don't have target in Canada =(
I have both Ed Hardy for men and Diesel only the brave, according to the other two posters mentioning those this makes me a douchebag and a loser :D
It's okay to wear Ed Hardy cologne.. because it's not like people are gonna know it's Ed Hardy when they smell you.. haha..
It's the Ed Hardy clothing you might want to stay away from..
I wanna get some stuff from this shop: http://www.thegreaseshop.com/servlet/StoreFront (http://www.thegreaseshop.com/servlet/StoreFront)
They have cool old barbershop stuff and classic aftershaves and all dat. Plus switchblade combs! Sometimes I lean towards greaser.

nu uh I love Ed hardy!
I bought an ed hardy bag today, actually xD
I liked it before it spread throughout the douchebag community like the plague though if that counts for anything? :P

I only want it because it's associated with Iron Man that's why I'm a loser haha.

Haha yes, that counts for something!
I actually thought Ed Hardy stuff was pretty neat until it became one of the main ways to spot a douchebag XD
Is it bad that Ed Hardy just makes me giggle and think of Lisa Frank? ::)

Aw, now I'm going to do it too. Well, minus the giggling part.
It's a very manly giggle, I assure you.
I just wear Lynx as well 8) It smells good enough, and it seems to be fairly popular amongst most boys my age! :P
I think Lynx/Axe gets a bad reputation because of pre-teen boys over using it. I remember some of the lads I went to school with would use it constantly and classrooms would end up stinking of the stuff. But the girls were just as bad with using Impulse. Blergh! Now that stuff does stink. Yeah, most Lynx stuff smells decent in moderation, except the one that smells like chocolate (Dark Temptation?).
I've always used Abercrombie Fierce, before T and now a year on T, smells the same. I love it & my gf does too :)
lacoste essential= the smell of heaven
I don't usually wear cologne, but occasionally I break out the Trufitt & Hill Trafalger. I actually really love Brut (probably because my grandfather wore it), but I rarely wear it. There are a couple of nice ones I've smelled on other guys, but I'm afraid if I ask them what they're wearing, they'll take it wrong. (Cue creepy, lecherous guy: "Mmmm. You smell good. Wanna get it on?) :D

Dark Temptation Axe + lighter = flamethrower. As opposed to other scents, it smells better after it's been burned. The others ones smell horrible.

Iron man uses it!? ohh I want it lol. Iron man is so sexy.
i'm a complete scent geek so this might turn into a rant:
i like david beckham intimate, kinda sandalewood/bergamot/lavendar but totally masculine too, but light enough to wear whenever i feel like it. i also use black phenix alchemy lab, and they smell awesome on me. my faves are bow and crown of conquest (leather, cedar, musk, maybe a touch of cinnamon); Dee (like bow and crown but lighter); galvanic goggles (smells like SEXY man, irish spring and a touch of leather. i call it my tony stark cologne); and Bloodlust (cinnamon and musk with vetiver, hooooottt). so yeah, those can work really well on guys.
drakkar noir is nice, though i've only worn it when i rubbed the sample paper from sephora on myself ::)
as for body wash i like the green Axe, recover i think? it smells like sprite :D. dark temptation smells like bug spray on me. old spice after hours is niiiice too. also amusing to use in the ladies' locker room at the gym xD
Don't worry, I appreciate the scent geek talk. I may have to try this Bloodlust thing. I'm such a sucker for anything musky with vetiver. *nom*
*edit*
Oh! It's from Black Phoenix. I should have known from the name and the fact that you already said it. lol I obviously read so carefully.
Drakkar Noir smells terrible on me. I wish it didn't react so badly to me. I grew up watching those commercials and always wanted to be "that guy."
Post Merge: May 17, 2010, 06:53:04 PM
Whelp, ordered a set of six imp's ears from black phoenix alchemy lab. I've only had like twenty people tell me to order samples from them now.
Bloodlust, Djinn, Fenris Wolf, Loup Garou, Wolf's Heart, Troll
Do we see a pattern here? I think only one doesn't have Vetiver listed.
The only one that I'm interested is sold in the UK and so I don't have access to it except for imports that would jack up the price by a great amount.
Oh well.
I'm cheap and don't have a lot of money to throw around (especially this year), so all I have is whatever I use in the shower that is at least unisex and my Old Spice stuff. For a few sticks I've used After Hours (I'll admit I sniff each scent before deciding on a stick at the store: a guy's gotta be sure he smells good, after all, right?); I have the After Hours spray for interviews or when I otherwise want to make an impression...or if I haven't had a chance to do laundry. :P
I haven't browsed colognes in well over a year...I may have to do that again next time I'm out, just to see. I think last time I liked some Beckham cologne, and maybe the ADIDAS one, too...there's a few I'd like to check out, and should probably start keeping track of. I do know this: my brother and I don't often agree on colognes, but we also don't agree on how to wear them either, haha.

OMG Devin you were into BPAL? Not to get up on my soapbox(wait, totally am...) 'cologne' is mostly a reference to how concentrated the perfume is. From wikipedia:
Perfume extract: 15-40% aromatic compounds
Eau de Parfum, Parfum de Toilette: 10-20% (typical ~15%) aromatic compounds.
Eau de Toilette: 5-15% (typical ~10%) aromatic compounds
Eau de
Cologne: Chypre citrus type perfumes with 3-8% (typical ~5%) aromatic compounds
(I mentioned to an overseas friend that over here we use the term 'cologne' to mean 'men's scent' and she laughed.) I kinda hate how 'perfume' is considered 'girly' and 'cologne', 'manly' colloquially, when really cologne is just a type of perfume. Anyone wearing cologne. Is wearing. Perfume. And I highly doubt we walk around thinking 'MY SCENT IS COMPOSED OF 3-8% AROMATIC COMPOUNDS HOMG man ness' or 'the concentration of your scent is 10% too pure, therefore you are wearing a GIRLY SCENT!' ...Scents smell 'mannish' or whathaveyou based on what's in 'em, the different notes, and perfume's perfume.
That said... I like oakmoss/patchouli/melissa/vetivert scented things(green/wet dirt) and smoke. Other herbs I like too, BPAL made a sharp green one I really liked called 'Nero', I think it's rosemary, bay, and pine. Resins I also like, copal, myrrh, and amber(though that isn't really a real resin) in particular. I like to put some on when I'm going 'out', but day to day I just stick with my showers and deodorant and wallow in 'man funk'. :P
I love colognes. Always have done. My feeling is that both men and women are a great deal more attractive if they are wearing a well-chosen fragrance.
My long-lasting favourite is Clarins Eau Dynamisante, which is very conveniently a unisex fragrance (well, strictly speaking it is a fragranced skin treatment but they do it in great, big splash-it-all-over bottles so it can be used as a fragrance). It is fresh, clean, light and irresistable.
For others, I like the old-fashioned fragrances, such as Eau de Verveine by Penhaligons or Trumpers Extract of Limes. Unfortunately, these cost an arm and a leg, so perhaps ones to whine on about as it draws near to Christmas.
Hugo Boss - Pure
When I start T, I wanna get my all time favourite Giorgi Armani 8)
I wear Adidas Dare too.
Seems to be the one that smells best on me.
I like cologne a lot but am careful where I wear it. Where I live there seems to be a "Scent Sensitive" movement.
