Title: Endometrial ablation
Post by: Farm Boy on May 12, 2010, 05:04:00 PM
How effective is this at stopping menstruation?  Would I be able to get one without therapy papers and such?  Could I try to swing it as getting it because of heavy/painful menstruation?  I'd want a hysterectomy, but I don't want to take hormones for the rest of my life.  I don't plan to go on T because:

1. I'm fine not being on it.  I already have elevated T levels (probably have PCOS, it's in my family) and enough masculine qualities to suit me.
2. I don't even take my allergy meds because I got sick of it after a few months.

All the stuff I've found though says you have to be a certain age/already have kids/etc.  I don't want any kids, and the thought of waiting until I'm in my 30s or whatever the age is is just depressing.  (I'm almost 20)  Is there any way to bypass the age limit?  Any input or related links you might have would be appreciated, thanks.

Apparently up to 50% stop bleeding and many have reduced bleeding. That is in relation to heavy bleeding to so may be normal for most. That can't be totally accurate but that is from webmd.

FYI, a hysterectomy does not mean needing hormones. It only removes the uterus not the ovaries. Oophorectomy removes ovaries.

Thanks!  I didn't know that.
