And im kind of excited.
Lol
When I get my hair cut, they shave the little pelitos on my back neck even up to my side nick, under my ear, to clean me up.
And so its becoming more noticeable now when they grow back in.
My friend noticed yesterday, and said I was growing a beard.
I smiled.
Lol
It kind of looks uneven though, so its making me want to start shaving... if I only knew how!
Congrats! I'm quite jealous actually.
There are quite a few resources on line for shaving. Here is one I had in my bookmarks.

Hey thanks! :D
I didn't even think of looking online lol.
Do you know if it matters if I use a men's or women's razor?
Ill probably just grab what's there in the restroom.
Not a problem!
I normally use a man's razor on my peach fuzz with a large amount of shaving cream. I have nicked myself quite a bit and sadly they always take a few days to heal. I need to buy that clotting stick whatever it's called but I don't know where to get it from.
Still I think a man's razor would be the way to go as hair on the hair tends to grow in coarser then the hair on one's legs. So a sharper blade would make better sense.
The blades in mens and womens razors are exactly the same. For example Gillette Mach 3=Gillette Venus. The main difference is the colour of the handle and the size of the razor head. Womens razor heads tend to be larger since they often have a bigger lubricating strip. Mens razor heads are usually smaller to make it easier to shave under the nose and other difficult areas.
Squirrel, styptic pencils can be found in most chemist shops in the same section as the razors.
I'm thinking about doing some old school shaving...the whole beaver brush and a straight razor type of deal.

This website is great for info on straight razors http://badgerandblade.com/ (http://badgerandblade.com/)

What's a clotting stick?
And thanks for clarifying that greg.
Now im kind of scared to cut myself.
:/
I have a very soft smooth face, knowing my luck its going to get all rough &bumpy full of cuts.
Lol
A badger seems ahhh :0.
Via Greg it's called a styptic pencil. It helps stop the bleeding so the nick heals quicker. It stings quick a bit when first applied but works well. I had one before but lost it somehow.
In the meantime toilet paper works as well. Just tear off a little square and apply it to the bleeding. When it stops bleeding make sure to moisten the paper before tearing it off. Otherwise you could reopen the wound.
Ohh ok, I see.
Kk, thanks for the info.
I rly appreciate it.
Lucky. I just shaved recently to get a better look at the fuzz that has grown in(I know it doesn't come in thicker, but it wouldn't be automatically dulled out.)
Shaving so far has never been a problem for me. I've yet to nick myself, so don't worry too much. I also think you'd get to a point where it doesn't happen very often.

I hope so. I think being so scared will only make me nick myself. But imma try to be careful.
I'm starting to get a good amount of facial hair (one month on T Friday) and what I have is starting to grow faster. I have PCOS so I've had a few chin whiskers and some decent sideburns for a few years but I used to only have to shave them every week or two. Lately I've been having to shave every three days. As soon as I get my own place and can set out all my stuff without worrying about people messing with it (August 1st!) I'm planning on getting a straight razor. I found some websites that sell a starter kit with a razor, strop, badger brush and a puck of shaving soap for about $200 for a nice razor. Yeah, a little expensive, but when you realize this same razor could last you your entire life and that you could easily spend $200 a year on disposables, it's worth it. Plus I've been wanting facial hair my entire life-- I'm willing to sacrifice a little extra to really enjoy it as it comes in and take some luxury care of my new pride and joy. ;D
For some reason this straight razor thing scares me...

You and me both. I think I saw Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd one to many times. Plus I am extremely low on funds at the moment. Actually I want to see that film again now.
I love the kind of spooky straight razor aesthetic but I don't trust myself to use one safely. The double-edged safety razor is my compromise, and it's similar enough to using a disposable razor that I've adapted to it quickly without any blood loss.

Lol oh man I wasn't even thinking of that movie.
I love Tim Burton!
Im going to put it on my bday wishlist though lol see what happens.
Cuz I don't trust myself with it either.

There is a reason they were dropped like a hot potato once King Camp Gillette (way cool name) invented the safety razor. Matter of fact, until the safety razor facial hair was the norm. Largely because straight razors are killers. If your carrying one in your pocket, the cops will call it a 'deadly weapon' and the law will back them up. There were very popular weapons up until WWII.
They have zero tolerance for error. Perhaps even less than zero. A safety razor might 'nick' you, but a straight razor cuts you (and your face bleeds like crazy), and cuts you like only a razor can cut. In some 40 odd years of using some sort of TrackII, or BIC disposable, or similar razor I've never cut myself once.* Remember, if your going to be doing this everyday, your going to be doing it first thing in the morning, before you're really awake.
I've been shaving my legs, face and pits for a while now, and your legs are way easier to shave than the face is, if your not using a straight razor on your legs, why would you put that thing up to your neck?
Ceremony and all that is nice, but when you get to the point where you have to do it everyday, then efficiency wins out over ceremony every time.
* -Totally unscientific research has me believing the Gillette Mach III is the best one you can use now.
tekla:
I wouldn't shave first thing in the morning, I would shave post-shower which is enough to wake me up. I don't use any sort of razor on my legs or pits because I like the hair soooo yeaaaa...and I think that more than likely I'll probably start with shaving my face when T starts and when the hair grows down my neck I'll do that.
I don't think I'd shave every day and with a straight razor you get a much closer shave and won't have to shave as often (based on what I've heard from guys I know). I'd probably shave about weekly.
well the good news is as your face gets use to shaving the nicks heal faster i always used mach3 as it gives a better shave in my oppinion plus the weight of the handle is nice it has a nice feel to it. i agree with tekla stay away from the straight razor unless you want permant scaring if you want to exp that their are plenty of barbers that still do that for a fee. personally i detest shaving that to me is the single most masculine thing. and the one thing that made me hate mirrors. id rather peal my face off with a straight razor then have to go threw that again
jessica
Totally unrelated but:
My gf's 17 yr old brother asked me to show him how to shave the other day. I did. It made me laugh inside, cause here I was, taught myself how to shave, and this bio male is coming to me asking for advice.
Just wait til that happens to you.
As for shaving...even if you only have peach fuzz, it's a good idea to shave it off. You can tell when you do shave, even if its only peach fuzz. Its completely a myth that if you shave hair, shaving it alone will make it come back faster and thicker. But at least you won't have that annoying, more feminine peach fuzz.
Well im a hairy dude &I hate shaving because im lazy, but I also hate body hair. Haha.
I will be looking into that razor that's been mentioned a few times though, disposable.
Ill let you guys know how it goes... gahhh, wish I had someone to teach me though.
Lol that would be pretty funny for some youngin to ask ME for help one day... awww, maybe when I become a father.
:D
Always exfoliate! The first time I tried to shave my fuzz I ended up with horrible shaving bumps all over my face and ingrown hairs. Although my friend said that having a shaving rash was actually helping me pass lol. Now I make sure I hard out exfoliate before I shave and I haven't had a rash since.
Exfoliate? Like scrub my face with one of those scrubber thingys? Lol.
Before shaving, or after, or both?
Before! Just to get rid of the dead skin so you don't get ingrown hairs. You can use a rough cloth, or a bit of pumice, or olive oil and salt. Or a product, like that St Ives apricot scrub stuff. Its got coarse walnut shells in it and scrapes off all that stuff like nothing else. I bought some after my mega rash and it helped clear up the bumps and prevent me getting new ones. Shaving rash is just caused by dead skin getting in the way.
I'm weird. I've been dry shaving with a disposible razor for over a year and I've never gotten a rash...
I just use shaving foam and i've never got a rash.

OMG you guys and your shaving....... It is one of the vestiges of masculinity I totally detest. I just don't understand why anyone would enjoy doing that to their face. But whatever.
I agree with elvistears. The smoother your skin the better your results will be. I use the St. Ive's Stuff and love it. Target also sells their own brand of it which I think I actually like better. It is not quite as coarse. I also mix it with Lavender baby wash and scrub it all smooth.
My favorite shave cream they stopped making. So I have been using Aveeno Positively Smooth. It is awesome stuff and I love the smell. Just a slight orange scent.
For a razor, I used to use a Mach III, but then the Fusion came out and I love it. would not trade it. Remember you have to be able to shave both with and against the grain to get a really nice feel. (You may not want this, but it is sooo important to me.)
For after shave I use Aveeno Positively Radiant lotion. I love how it leaves my skin and has a spf of 30.
Good luck!
Hell with shaving, I waited to long for it to grow, I sure ain't cutting it off!
I shaved dry with a disposable 3 blade razor when it was just peach fuzz, now that it is a bit thicker I just use water with the same 3 blade disposables. I have never gotten a rash or razor burn or nicked my self.

I have that razor too, I really like it.
Ohh I see!
Hmmm,
Thanks guys!
And kristi :)
