Title: Dilation Synchronicity
Post by: K8 on May 18, 2010, 04:06:26 PM
Dilation is a lonely exercise.  As most of you do, I make sure that I am alone when I dilate.  But this morning, while I was spreading the gel on the dilator, I wondered how many other women in the world were doing the same thing at that time.  It gave me a warm feeling of connection to untold others.  We share a common experience in the isolation of our rooms.

It's only lonely until your five year old grandaughter bursts into the bedroom and asks "Watcha doin'?" :D

Grandma Sandy now dilates under the covers...

Yes, I have thought of others during my sessions as I care for myself. I find it comforting knowing I am not the only one going through this still strange ritual/treatment. It normalizes it to some degree and gives me a sense of kinship. I feel connected and a bond to other women like me.

It is a solitary time, though I haven't felt lonely. I love the quiet time. I've found it to be a good exercise in mindfulness and personal caregiving. It makes me feel good that I am taking care of my body with the treatments and bathing, healing my wounds. It occurs over and over each day and there is a serenity in the routine and quiet.

dont fall asleep like many do while dilating.

No one was supposed to have noticed  :D  Sleeping pills combined with dilating around midnight tend to have this effect.
