Title: T Question
Post by: Ry on May 19, 2010, 05:54:54 AM
i was wondering, if i take T for half a year or so and then stop, what will be some permanent changes and what will go? i know you lose the muscle mass that you get when your on T, do you also lose the rate of hairgrowth? where it grows and how thick it is? or does it stay consistent throughout?
i want to take T once i get the chance but since i know i wont have the money to keep it up for a long time  i want to take it long enough [is 6 months enough?] to get the deeper voice (my voice bugs me) and then stop until i have the money to start again.
are t shots expensive? i hear they range from $15-$50[USD] per shot, is that about right?

I don't know of any one who pays per shot. Your voice drops fairly quickly but can take time to drop as far as it will. Facial hair stays but thins and takes time to come in. Clitoral growth happens quickly at first anyway, and that is permanent. Some things are temporary for one person but permanent for another.

Is there anyway you could possible make the money?  Pick up two or three extra hours at work a week?  Cut out some unnecessary expense?  I know not everyone thinks like this, but I'm thinking of my T as a medical expense just like my other medication, and I'm doing what I need to do to stay on it.  If all you want is a few small changes, that's great, but if you really want the whole package and are just settling for less because you think you can't afford it, try looking at your finances again.  The price of T isn't much more than cell phone bill-- I bet if you shuffled things around a bit you could afford it.

T is less than 1/3 a cell phone bill. $30/5 months after insurance , $53 per 5 months before insurance.

I wonder the same.
What changes happen in what amount of time.
Which are permanent.
What happens when you go off it.

If all you want is a few small changes, that's great,

This is what I want, mainly the voice drop, clit growth, &to get in some facial hair... the rest id work extra hard at to fix myself.

But I don't think its gonna happen anytime soon for me.

If you stop taking T:
Any facial hair will stay, but may change texture. For many guys, it takes years on T to get facial hair that isn't scruffy and patchy so you may have to deal with more of a bumfluff style beard if you stop T early.
Your fat will go back to your hips and thighs.
Dick should stay the same, but I've heard that it can shrink very slightly.
Body odour will revert back to a feminine smell.
Periods will come back.
Muscle mass will decrease if you don't work out.
Voice will stay deep. Again though, it usually takes between one and two years for the voice to drop and settle completely, so stopping early may result in voice cracks, squeakyness or one of those transguy munchkin voices lol.

It also depends largely on your genetics. I know a guy who is 10 months on T and almost has a complete beard, thick all over, needless to say I am envious.

Well im a hairy guy, with a larger than normal preT dick, and a very high voice.. I pass as a kid half my age because of my girly voice.
:/
I think I can deal with the fat, muscle, and period stuff...
Just depends how long it'll take for the stuff to happen for me I guess...

Not to be a killjoy, but if you start T, you should stay on T.  We just don't know yet how it affects things like cardiovascular health, cancer rates, etc. to be on T, but I do know by essentially forcing your body through puberty (again) and then the equivalent of neutering yourself in the midst, it's not the healthiest choice you can make.  If you want to go on T, you owe it to yourself to first establish a lifestyle where you don't have to unnecessarily make yourself sick.
