I didn't realize it was even possible to change the last name.
Anyways, I plan to get a name change hopefully this summer.
I'm a minor my mom said she'd sign the papers. I'm changing the first and middle for sure but would it be even possible to change my last name.
I want to break ties with my "family" kinda. My mom is not considered the best role model. When I tell ppl my last name they assume I'm a horrid person.
Also I live in Missouri, do I need a attorney to get a name change and where do I get the proper forms? How do I get a fee waiver?
My mom has been lying to me about the name change process I wanna get my facts straight.
I've never met my dad. My mom will give her permission and sign em but she's tring to come up with every lie imaginable to make me not do it.
If she wants you not to do it and you require her permission she may in the end go back on her word and not agree to let you change your name. You may need to wait until you can legally change your name on your own.
She's not like that she doesn't give a crap she'll sign a paper to shut me up.
Google is your friend. Here are two sites on the subject for your state. I don't think an attorney is needed. I do remember hearing about filing fees, placing a legal ad in a paper, etc. A name change is a name change. You can change all three names if you wanted to. I also think (could be wrong) there is a law regarding how often you can change your name. If you've got a last name in mind and change it then realize later that it isn't the right name for you theeeeeeen you have to wait 5 years or something.
