While this may not apply to everyone, it occured to me that with my recent name change that my prefix has also changed. I refer to myself as Ms if for no other reason than it is a female prefix that fits, my current relationshiip. My wife has always refered to her self as Ms also.
Unfortunately the only prefixes, for the boys that I'm aware of is either Mr or Master.
Steph
Miss, which presuming I understand correctly...

in that case, somebody's impersonating me. ah well... wouldn't be the first time.
Out in the professional world, I always use Ms. unless I am specifically asked not to.
I've noticed that high school students of both all genders almost always refer to female teachers as Mrs., even if they don't wear a wedding ring.

When I am fully dressed I like the term Ms and it denotes the female stature, that i feel I turly am.
Undortunately when i am in drab, i still receive the handle Mr. however i do hope and pray that some day this will be corrected
Denise
I prefer "Miss" as I am unattached at the moment >:D though i do keep trying. :eusa_wall: :icon_flamed: :icon_help:
No prefix. Well, Glora, but that isn't a part of the, Mr. Mrs. Thing.
I know..it is an old thread but a good question...
I refer to myself as MS. but my friends refer to me as Missy....LOL

I go by Ms. since I am not married or attached. >:D Just have not found the right person to light my fire yet. ???
Shannon
Ms. here.
:)

There's a difference between Miss and Ms? I've heard that Miz is for when one is not sure whether to use Mrs or Miss so it can't be that... or can it. How confusing. :-\
I would use whichever is most appropriate (I'm single).
I guess I am lucky, my name prefix's with Dr and that is Gender Neutral.

Please correct me if I am wrong...
THe women's movement was in full swing back in the early 70's. Males do not indicate their marital status through their prefix. (Mr). Women decided that what is good for the gander is good for the goose. Thus the term "Ms" was born. Unlike Miss or Mrs, the prefix Ms does not indicate marital status.
In general, I always use Ms unless asked to do otherwise.
Chaunte
OK that makes sense thanks. :)
For now I'll go with Miss but in the future I may go with Ms or Mrs depending on the gender of my SO. :D
I'm going by Ms. for now, since I am still legally married, although relationship-wise, I am single. After divorce, if I am still single, I will probably go by Miss.
Melissa
Miss. I'm kind of old fashioned.
I don't use a prefix. I just use my name. But I'm wierd.
When I got married, I would not take my husbands name. He mentioned something about it. I asked him "If I take your name will you also take mine?" He smilled and let it go.
Cindi
is it me or does this smell of someone with too much time on their hands?
ok.
I'll bite.......
in the real world.......and online...when I buy things,,,
I am still mister.
I am..still..a bio male..living as a bio male.
if I ever.......am given......THEE opportunity....to start living AS female..........THEN I am going to be miz..as in ms.
now why was this question even allowed to be posted?

It's posted because it's relevant to transgendered life. Many TG's have never had to consider the proper usage of a prefix and therefore this topic helps explain it.
Susan's is dedicated to TG support and the people here come from every stage of transition beginning to end. Regardless of your age when you begin your transition you are basically starting out as a child and having to learn all the things that genetic girls have learned over years and years in a much shorter time period. Hence, even the most simple questions are extremely important.
:)
At this point, I just go by "Miss".
Melissa
I am lucky, since the age of 24 I have had a Gender Neutral Title...
Dr Buffy is quite nice to use and doesnt indicate marriage status either.

ok...I just felt..there are times..some..questions...seem..to me...personally...like someone is playing games.
what name do you use..what title do you use..
some of these things seem to me to be redundant...they are what I call self evident...
ya just figure it out for yourself.
that's what being an adult is.
to ME..these remind of some teenie bopper that has no clue what the world is all about.
I just personally lose patience.
so I did ask..I said is it just me?
my bad
I'm sorry.

I do agree that there are some questions that
seem silly. However, they may not be quite so silly depending on where you are in transition. Take the quetion of this topic for instance. It may seem completely irrelevant to you, but suppose there is somebody about to begin RLT and it never crossed their mind what to call themselves. By seeing what other TS call themselves, it may give them some ideas of what to use. So a lot of it really depends on your point of view.
Melissa
I have actually stated to use Ms as a prefix. I would preferr that over Mr but sometimes I have to provide the later.
Owen
Exploring my feminine self
I've sometimes used Ms, have thought of using Mx since that doesn't go with either gender. I dislike being called Mr, when someone calls me that it sounds like they want to talk to my father.

Hi tinkerbell,
As a new member I thought I would go through some of the topics and polls that are on this site and put my 2 cents worth in, plus I think is good for new members to visit and reply to some of the old topics.
Hugs Sharon
I usually refer to myself as Debbie, although since I first began to use Debbie Anne as an online name even before I transitioned, it has stuck and to this day I have friends who will introduce me as Debbie Anne. Getting back on-topic, either Miss or Ms would be appropriate. I really haven't decided which I prefer just yet.
most of my mail is addressed to; [ms. katia yada, yada, yada] so i guess that makes me a [ms.]
I usually use Ms, and other people tend use Ms or Mrs depending on if Andy is with me or not.
Karen Lyn :icon_female:
I really don't care what anyone calls me unless they call me "late for dinner!" :D But I'll sign my name Ms. Helen Christine W________
smiles & hugs
you know who!
;D master
i just use my first name most of the time...
