Had to go to CX London today to meet the surgeon and show him my bits.
He's happy enough and I was sent to Hospital Admissions and came out with a date for 1st September!
Got to go down on 26th July for the weigh-in, bloods, medical etc etc so it's a firm date, provisional on all that being ok
In a moment of supreme irony, after two years of wildly yo-yo-ing up and down my estrogen seems to be finally stable and at an ideal level.... bang on the max of the target window!
- so they congratulated me on that, then told me to stop taking them in about 3 weeks time!
Surgeon seems nice.
I know that THEY'VE done all this a thousand times before, but I have to say that was one express visit ..... about 10 minutes altogether, including the examination of my bits :o
Shame it was over so quickly really 'cos that's the most sex I've had in 3 years :D
.....I'm not complaining it just wasn't what I expected, thought it would be more like 40 minutes of sedate chat.
I ->-bleeped-<- down there every three months for the psych chat which kinda goes:-
"How are you?" ...... "Fine thanks"
"Things going well, day to day?" ........ "Yes, fine thanks."
"Is your job at the charity shop still going alright?" "Yes, that's fine thanks."
"Well...... that all seems to be fine, see you in three months." :P :D
that takes half an hour, so I guess that when they're actually going to chop my balls off, I just expected.... a bit more.
Anyway, it's all set and I'm experiencing soaring joy - all I've got to do now is overcome the abject terror. :P
Sept 1st also happens to be my Mother's 80th birthday. I foned her and told her the news and she said that wasn't quite the present she was hoping for

I'm starting to see that as being the norm. Mine started off a bit slow but ended up being around 40-45 min

Sorry to hear. Wish she could have been more up beat. Mine are actually more excited than I am. I guess it comes from them seeing me so miserable for most of my life.
gratz on progress and hope for your future.
Steffi, Congrats and Best Wishes

I take it you saw the delightful Mr James Bellringer then? Earlier this year he did my belated update and revision surgery 26 years after the original work was done by another surgeon. I think he is absolutely brilliant. In my case he literally made a velvet purse out of a pigs ear!
(Or did you see Phil Thomas? - they are both reputed to be good surgeons, although personally I prefer Mr B.)
MR Bellringer is known as the fastest cutter in the business - He's very good but amazingly is reputed to often take less than 2 hours for a full reassignment surgery - a procedure which can take others well over 4 hours to do.
Actually the fact that he is so fast is good - because in theory the less time that you spend under anasthetic and the swifter the skin is bonded to it's new site the better the recovery.
Anyway please say hello to everyone for me when you go - especially Iffy Middleton the gender specialist nurse. CXh is the best place you could possibly go IMHO! :)
2010 is indeed the major SRS year for Susan members!
We def need to do a class of 2010 meeting!!! 5-10 years down the road (Spoke about it in earlier posts)
Hi,
Congrats on your date, it will really go quickly, I know from experience. Who's your surgeon? Mine is Phil Thomas (thanks Jenny I am scared now). :icon_yikes:
Yeah, it seems a really big year in 2010 for Susan's with so many of us having/had GRS/SRS surgery. We def should get together for a 2010 reunion sometime in the future and it would be great to meet everyone from across the pond and from the UK. How we would do such a thing might be a logistical nightmare though, but saying that it could be done. Perhaps a holiday, lol.
Stardust
Thanks everyone. :)
Yes rejennyrated, my surgeon is indeed Mr Bellringer and I've also met Iffy Middleton who I thought seemed particularly nice.
The class of 2010 is getting big!
congratulations Steffi on your upcoming surgery! :)
Congrats Steffi :)
I'm doing my best to join the class of 2010 as well!

Congrats Steffi - you really are in the best possible hands. Just follow all the instructions carefully and you will do great.
I guess that I am a graduate of the class of 1984 when I had my original basic vaginoplasty and a "postgraduate" of the class of 2010 then.
I must say though that I am Delighted to be a honorary member of the exclusive 2010 sisterhood albeit on a second helping. My mother said I always was a bit over enthusiastic about SRS - it seems she was right. ;D
