How much of a difference does T make in getting rid of them? I've watched many progression videos on youtube but they're mostly focused on the facial and voice changes, so I don't have any idea how much it changes them on average. It's really frustrating for me because I'm about 20 lbs underweight (thyroid issues, not eating disorder) and I still have feminine hips/midsection.
So, for those of you on T, how much do you think it would even things out for me? Any before and after pictures you might have would be most helpful! Thanks!

It'll make your torso more straight, but you can't change the width of the bone.
The bone structure of your hips won't shrink but fat will redistribute to your waist(that curve above your hips. What really matters is your shoulder to hip ratio. I was and probably still am a bit underweight and I had hips that looked a lot like yours pre-t, they aren't as noticeable anymore but I pass mostly because my shoulders are broader than my hips.
If your hips are bone, it won't get rid of that. But if they're mostly fat or other stuff that's not bone, you have hope. If you want a before and after...I have pics in teh do I pass thread of my stomach pre-T and at 1 month. There's a noticable difference. I don't have much bone luckily, I thought I did, but it was all fat and stuff. It's all relocating now. And I've only been on T for 33 days.
I guess I'm lucky in the fact that I don't really have hips I posted a pic of my waist in the "The Official "Do I Pass?" Thread" if you want to take a look at it, I'm not on T at the mo as I'm still in the early stages.
Thanks, everybody! Yeah, I know it won't shrink my bones, and my hips are mostly bone. They're not wide by any means though, so if T will get rid of my narrow waist/straighten out my torso that'd be great.
Thanks for the videos, Ryan! Visuals always help! :)
So, what's a good shoulder to hip ratio? I just measured and my shoulders are 5 inches wider than my hips. That should be good, right?
Glad to see that the fat redistribution starts to happen quite quickly once on T. I am seriously dysphoric about my hips and fat seems to just gather there so easily. I can't wait to get rid of them, lose my tiny waist and get a better ratio through to the shoulders.

I haven't actually measured mine but women tend to have hips that are the same as or wider than their shoulders. Men typically have broader shoulders that are wider than their hips creating that big upper body triangle.
Well I read somewhere that male waists should be 70% of shoulders (optimally) and and 90% of the hips. (Circumferentially.)
I'm complete and utter rubbish at math, so I have no idea how to figure my numbers. Thanks for the info, though!
And Carson, thanks, I'd never noticed that some people's hips were wider than their shoulders. Now I feel better. :)
My hips are a little on the wide side but I've got freakin' huge shoulders, thank goodness.

no problem, but also don't feel bad if you don't have linebacker shoulders. My dad's hips and shoulders are about the same width, having wider shoulders just helps you look a little more male if you still have some feminine features.
Haha, nah, I don't want linebacker shoulders anyway. I'm just glad that I'm not leaning to the feminine side in that aspect.

Well, I suppose if you told me your waist I could tell you the ideal shoulder/hip size to go with it, or vice versa.
Alright, my hips are 32.5" and my shoulders are 37"

Wow, thank you! It makes me feel so much better to have cold, hard numbers to do comparisons rather than just my "it is never good enough" judgement.

For your shoulders, your waist is supposed to be 25.9" and your hips are supposed to be 28.49".
For your hips, your waist is supposed to be 29.25" and your shoulders are supposed to be approximately 41.7".
You're not the ideal, but most males aren't.

Well, I think it's correct. In any case, yes, numbers are good. Ideals are usually pretty uncommon anyway so don't stress or anything.
I have seen guys who have been on T for a couple years who still have a very noticeable dip in their waists. But fat does redistribute from the hips/butt to the middle. Working on the abdominal obliques can help straighten out the waist as well. Plus, as others have pointed out, the shoulder/hip ratio makes more difference when you are actually wearing clothes, and the shoulders do get broader on T, especially if you work out those outer shoulder muscles. (They'll get broader pre-T if you work them out as well, just not as quickly.)
And if no one has mentioned it yet; if you've got the money, you can get the ManSculpture thing.
"By lipocontouring the abdomen (stomach), love handles, and the "saddle bag" area of the outside hips, we can give your body a more streamlined and masculine appearance"
Ryan.
Just watched your two videos.
The first, I thought, you looked good. But quite young. The second, (come on, it was taken about 10 years later :D ) you look amazing.
No kidding Ryan, that is a really good looking young man I saw there. Not just appearence, but mannerisms.
Men do come in all shapes and sizes. Yes, some even have large hips (my 7th grade French teacher sure did!).
If you go onto some workout tracker websites where people are posting before and during pictures you can see the wide array of male bodies. They are not always typical.
Also, not related to hips but bodies, and this sounds stupid (well it was!) but if you google you can find Howard Stern's small penis contest video. There are a few guys on there (yes they are naked) who have decent sized moobs and invisible junk, yet no one questions their manhood.
Jay
I'm gonna add that...wait I forgot...
Oh! If you don't have very prominent hips..the fact that your shoulders and rib cage are gonna widen might help. I can already tell my rib cage and shoulders are getting broader. Good luck to me getting on my new binder when it arrives.
These are my hips.. I just took this about 5 minutes ago.

From what I'm learning here I don't think that will be necessary, although I have thought about it. (In my pretending-that-I-have-limitless-money world...)

Wow, really? Now I'm even more excited! My rib cage is already almost the ideal for my hips, so if it grew slightly and straightened out that would be very awesome.
Damian- You look pretty similar to me. Are you on T?
Farm boy, no i'm not on T, although within the next TWO weeks i should be! :D

I also have wide shoulders and a broad back so I seem to me blessed in that way but huge boobs let me down grrrrrrrr.
I hate my hips. I wish that they were thinner. I do have broad shoulders though for which I'm very glad.
damian: u hav exactly the same hips as me.
argh!!! im deffinetly ready to be done with my hips!!!
