Shes been calling me damian for about a straight week! My step dad also calls me damian. They use male pronouns and everything :). Its surprising that they stepped up, but i can't complain ^_^
Do your parents call you by your name?
That's ace ;D
My Dad never does. Ever. Ugh.
My Mum tries though, if she accidently calls me my birth name she corrects herself.
Thats a start though, right?
That's awesome Damian!!
My dad just calls me Nick as always, kind of side stepping the whole thing. Mum calles me Nicki, but can't get her mouth around Nicole (my actual name) - she always says it with a pause and a funny strangled accent. But she is trying to be accepting and supportive and we have no real issues. My sisters don't really say my name at all but my brother has been excellent, calls me sis.
your brother sounds pretty cool then :)
Thats awesome :D
My mum calls me Nathan and uses male pronouns like 99% of the time :) Dad never does though.
Dads don't seem to be accepting of it..it seems...hmm... :-\
That's great news Damian!
I haven't started using a male name outside the house (early days :()
However, nearly 10 years ago I stopped using my verrry feminine birth name, and started using a more androgynous version. My parents STILL use my birth name - my Mum even goes round telling people I know "You do know that's not her REAL name, don't you". Hmmff. So I don't hold out much hope that when I come out as 'Mark' over the next few months that I'll ever get them to use it.
Still, WTF, in my own head I'm Mark, and you never know - maybe they'll come round, like yours did, Damian. Good for you
Thanks mark, i hope your parents come around soon!
Yay! Thats great.
I haven't offically come out to mine yet. They basically know, they even know that I go by Ali, but, they've fought it. So, we'll see! haha :)
xoxo
Awesome! Congrats.
Everyone calls me Rowan now, except from my 93 year old grandmother who's very easily confused, and my dad who has memory issues. Nobody uses male pronouns, but I told them not to bother themselves with it unless I actually go on hormones/transition fully. As it is right now, I'm okay with she, but it makes my day if someone actually DOES say he.
Awesome!
Yeah my mom and dad and sister all call me carson, my sister has gotten really good with pronouns and calling me her brother and such. My mom and dad are trying to get used to using male pronouns, my mom is a bit farther along than my dad.
Awesome, dude! 8D *high fives*
My name isn't particularly indicative of whether people are accepting of my gender, since I chose my name (or rather, it chose me... completely accidentally) long before I figured out my gender, so now I have a typically-female name attached to my non-female self and no intentions of changing it. x3 Despite this fact, no one in my family really calls me by Diane (my preferred name)-- my dad is really angry about it, my mom is okay with it as long as she doesn't have to call me by it, and my brother calls me Diane online but not in real life.
...and the all use female pronouns for me. Meh. (I'm not out to my dad, yet, but I am to my mom and brother.)
Thats excellent :) I haven't told my parents yet although all my friends now call me Jay.
Congrats Damian.
My mum uses male pronouns and calls me Ryan all the time. She says it feels weird for her to say anything else now.
Although I do notice she slips up on very rare occasions without noticing. Usually during moments of panic or anger.
My dad isn't accepting or understanding, so he doesn't make any effort to use correct name and pronouns at all. Infact, I think he made an effort to do the exact opposite.
Ryan, i have been watching your youtube videos and i hear you talk about your dad often, i'm sorry he is the way he is..best of luck to you!
Thanks :) I just don't bother even trying to communicate with him anymore. Seems to work.
Awesome!
My parents went through a supportive phase, and they just stopped and started calling me by my old name and female pronouns a couple days ago without any explanation.
Congrats! I like hearing good news :).
Both my parents call me Katelyn (well Kate actually) and use female pronouns, took my dad a bit to start doing it more consistently. They both still slip up every now and then though, but I forgive them :P.
The other day my mom was talking to my aunt on the phone, I haven't told me aunt yet anything (well I think my dad has, but w/e), so my parents revert to male name/pronouns if they talk about me when on the phone with her. So my mom was talking about me for a bit, and kept referring to me as she. So later on I asked her if my aunt knew about the gender stuff, etc, and she says "I don't think so why?" me: "while you kept referring to me as she when you were talking about this" my mom: "oh oops I didn't even realize it... hey but that means I'm getting better!" (at using the right name/pronoun) :)
Gratz Damian, I don't hold out hope for mine so I'm glad it works for someone.
:)
Im not out to my mom yet, but my closest friends have recently started calling me Michael and its a great feeling, it just feels right.
That is so awesome Damian!!!! I can just imagine how good it must make you feel ;D
I still get called by my birth name :(
Today I had one of the most embarrassing shopping trips ever. I was looking inside a particular shop I like 8) One of the younger girls working there kept staring at me as I tried on some cool hats and she started to pretend to unpack random boxes close to me ;D Then my mum just has to ruin the moment by walking over to where I am and saying, "have you found what you want JASMINE" I pretended she was talking to my sister standing next to me, so replied back with "I know what I want!" ;D then showed her the shoes. They didnt have the size I needed on display, so my mum asked the random girl that was watching me, "my DAUGHTER likes these shoes, do you have any in stock that SHE could try on" aaah! The girl got some, and was like "there you go man" 8) I didnt know what to think next.
My parents have never called me "he" they dont even try :'( Even tho Ive asked.
Congrats Damian! ;D
I'm not outed, but all of my friends and most of the family call me by my nickname (it's gender neutral).

I get that all the time. ill be passing all the time in a store and then my mom will go and ruin it. even if the store ppl are using male pronouns and everything. its really anoying and embaressing. i keep meaning to talk to her about it. like i dont care about at home but in public i do.
Parents are funny creatures (I should know, I am one). I think they think that maybe if they call us SHE, my DAUGHTER, *INSERT FEMALE NAME*, that somehow it'll rub off, and we'll suddenly go "OH! I see! Yes, of COURSE I'm a girl. Silly old me", and go buy a frock. *sigh* ::)
maybe i guess that makes sense.
it just annoys me
Congrats damian!
Hahahahaha. So true. Mums always ruin it. You're tryin to get some attention from some girls and she would be like using female pronouns. My parents are trying. Bro and dad never used my english name and my other name, doesn't sound too girly so all good. Mum is calling me and son but there are times, she'll refer me as a girl and it annoys me but I guess it's hard for her and she gotta get used to it
sweet thats awesome!
and as for me, i'm not out to them. though i know my mom would especially call me female names/pronouns if i ever told her, just to be a dick :/
