Title: Name change! yay!
Post by: Rock_chick on June 18, 2010, 04:51:55 PM
Well not just yet...But I've put everything in place to legally change my name at work and on my tax records and at the DSS. So as soon as I hear back from HR I can initiate the process to legally be Helena. hehe

Trying to think of suitable middle names is a pain though. hehe

Congrats! I remember the day that I received my name change... it was very powerful. It really felt like a giant leap forward. I don't think I've heard anyone say that picking a middle name wasn't a struggle so you have lots of company on that one  ;)

Actually, for me I just picked one out of the air.  I needed to change everything fast as I was accepted into a media program which had a waiting list and a vacancy became available.  I really don't like it, but I do like the unique spelling

hehe, It is exciting...I'll be booking the solicitors next week I think and should hopefully have the statutory declaration done soon after that. Middle names are definitely a pain...I was thinking of using the feminine spelling of my current name, but after being told by my parents that I had to keep that name I'm less sure now.

For some reason I like Kaede...which is Japanese for cherry blossom. But I'll see. hehe.

Actually, coming up with a middle name was easy..as long as I completely changed my name. Finding a middle name to go with my feminized birth name was impossible so that is when i decided to change everything (first, middle, last).

congratulations Helena! that is a beautiful combination. ;)  I wish I had chosen a different middle name but ended up with a feminization of my old first name as a middle name out of more respect for my family than they've yet to show me lol. Choose something that you like, you'll be glad you did ;)

Congrats. Helena is a very pretty name.  :)

Kaede is lovely too.  It would be interesting to know how it is pronounced.

Hi Helena

Congratulations on taking the steps forwarded in changing your life around.  I was going to suggest ask your parents for a middle name.  However that idea seems to be squashed.

How about asking them what their suggestion would be?  If that is not possible then 'Helena Kaede' is a lovely combination.

Then again you could have 3 names like me and add another.  If I was to change my name now I would have some real fun and I would keep my family name.

Kind regards
Sarah B

Wikipedia is amazing

QuoteKaede
Pronunciation    Ká-é-dé

I was also misinformed, it's the Japanese for maple...still pretty though.

This is exactly how I feel actually...I'd been planning on using the feminisation of my birth name (I've been using it as my given name for years anyway) kind of to say I'm still the same person and out of respect...but after being told that I had to keep that name as my middle name, because that's what they would always call me...it feels like I'm only doing it to salve their conscience. I suppose I could use it as a second middle name but just never use it. I don't know though.
