And I'm 23...long done with puberty. I might have hairy pits but I'm hairless (compared to most FAAB) most everywhere. No belly hair, no random nipple hair, hardly any leg hair.

They're really long and dark hairs. To be honest, I don't like it. I don't want to be a total ape on T. It's not enough to discourage me, though. Lots of men don't want to be apes, but have to deal with it... So will I.

I haven't shaved anything in a month or two, but it grows back pretty quickly when I do. I've always been kinda hairy, my arm pits will literally not stop growing so I have to trim them.
Alright guys, don't go overboard here. Big pit hair isn't exactly a good quality in a guy... especially if you're going to wear something with short sleeves, at least cut it down not to hang out.
When I was trying to be a guy, I went without shaving. Period; until I was 18. By contrast, to hold onto my femininity, I got my hair trimmed all of 3 times between 4th grade and 19. Both are examples of overcompensating. Being all rararargh hairy beard doesn't make you masculine, and having long, horrible hair doesn't make you feminine.
Not that FTM really need to worry about growing an amish beard, like I used to have... but just don't feel like you HAVE to be super hairy to be a guy. Not all guys are hairy. And if you date men, not being hairy might be a plus anyway. Same way you do not have to have breasts to be a woman. Do they help? Sure do and man my confidence is better with them, but it's not required. Lots of men are clean cut and not everyone has a shadow. And buff bodybuilders wax off their hair anyway :p
Autumn, I like body hair on myself. Even when I identified as a woman I liked the hair I had. I don't really know how dating men and not being hairy is a plus.
I have no intentions of cutting my pit-hair...I like it.

You are absolutely right Autumn. I agree, man there are bio dudes in my town when I was in high school that didn't have a hair on their whole body it seemed o.o Most of them were kinda in that emo cliche. I'm setting a bad example ;D but I couldn't help myself. I don't think being hairy makes a person more masculine, though I dig guys that are (via that mountain man look) thus potential of experiencing that myself gets me all giddy.

Grooming is an aesthetic thing. Unless you work a job with particular requirements, nobody can force you to do anything. I wasn't directing what I said at anyone in particular. However, if as a dude, you decide to make a fashion statement in public of say, a wifebeater with giant pits and scraggle forest on the chest, it paints you in a certain demographic. Same way as if a MTF cakes on a ton of makeup and an age inappropriate miniskirt. You are welcome to portray yourself however you wish, but do so with the knowledge of what it means.
Not all men are hairy. Not all gay men like hairy men. Not all women like hairy men. Not all men let their hairiness flourish, and many do take steps against it. What I am saying as a broad statement on the topic is not to feel like hairiness is a requirement or a definition of masculinity. I sure wish somebody would have impressed on me that my beard would have looked a LOT better maintained, and that my hair would have been healthier and way prettier had I taken it in for trims, too.
Plus, everyone really needs to trim their pubes. Oh my god.
Edit: This is not me railing against body hair. I'm actually hot for James now because armpit hair is actually an important part of arousal - keeps the scent of the body. When clean, it's incredibly erotic to notice the scent of your partner. And his leg hair looks soft and cozy. Don't tell my girlfriend.

It's really odd, but the more the dysphoria grows, the less I mind being hairy. I'm actually looking forward to leg hair now. Just three or four months ago I was dreading having more body hair.

I have pretty hair pits. I haven't shaved in a couple years...my leg hair is pretty nice on the top of my leg, but I can't grow a thing on the backs of them or my thighs.
Is it really a myth that shaving makes hair darker? I could'a sworn my happy trail got darker and longer after I shaved it a few times.

It's a myth.
A hair follicle is tapered down, thin at the tip and thicker farther down the shaft. When you shave, you blunt it off. It does not make hair thicker and darker in a growth and coverage sense, but it makes it more obvious. If shaving made you grow hair, we wouldn't need hair transplant surgery :p

Aw, guess I was wrong. I just get more obviously hairy.
I think shaving helps the first few times. In my experience some peach fuzz has a darker root so shaving it enables the darker hair to come in. I know my beard has gotten much fuller after shaving as has my treasure trail (though I don't shave that anymore). I'm sure in its own time the dark hairs would have been able to come in on their own but I do think shaving helped speed up the process.
I've always been told shaving helps stimulate the growth, and in my experience it has.

I'm fairly indifferent about what happens with my body hair, as long as it's not uncomfortable. Having experienced both shaved and unshaved armpits, I've concluded that unshaved is more physically comfortable for me, so that's what I do. Simple as that. Admittedly, though, after having left everything unshaved for so long, I've grown rather fond of the fuzz. (Obviously, if I ever end up with facial hair, I'll groom that a bit more carefully-- however, the rest of my fuzz can do as it pleases, as long as it's not being bothersome.)
All my body hair is long and dark. I think I could almost tie a knot in my pit hair! I have more manly looking leg hair than a lot of dudes I know and my arms are super hairy too. I tried to take a pic but my crappy webcam kept flashing out all the hair! Anyway, wasn't called the Werewolf in high school for nothing...
Another weird hair thing is that I have three long dark chest hairs splat in the middle of my chest, as well as a whole bunch of smaller ones.
I think I'm gonna explode into a ball of hair once I start T.

I just decided to stop shaving my armpits recently so their in that "Whoo! I'm almost a centimetre long! *splaysplaysplay*" stage. You know the one. They look pretty goofy right now in my opinion. My leg hair just looks sparse and pitiful at the moment...
This is one aspect of T that I am a little nervous of. I have mediterranean origins and am pretty damned hairy anyway (arms, legs, happy trail). What if I get a hairy back on T? Nooooooooo! I will become a hermit and hide in a cave.

I can understand that. It would be rough for me too. I like hairy macho guys, so if I turn into one, they'll be less interested in me (if that makes sense). I like having body hair but an Austin Powers chest and back would be just a little too much.

Same here. I can't stand hairy backs. Actually, I can't stand any hair other than pubic on a guy--but I also like my guys to appear very feminine, preferably where I can't tell if they're male or female.
I love having body hair. I sometimes stroke my arms, legs, or chest like one would do to a dog just to feel the hair. But then again, I am a rather weird guy.

My legs dont have that much hair, and its mostly blond so its harder to see. About 70% of the boys in Grade 10 at my school shave their legs either way. But its probably just cause some popular dude was doing it :P

The only area on my legs (in fact, the only area on my body outside head/pubic/underarm) where non-peach-fuzz hair grows is from about four inches below the bottom of the knee down to about two inches above the ankle bone. It's a really fine dark blonde that's almost indistinguishable from peach fuzz except that it gets longer, at which point it just looks ridiculous because it only exists in this band around my lower calves.
And the hair under my arms is really coarse and curly like steel wool - there's not a lot of it, but it's uncomfortable. I'm not a big hair fan anyway so I just shave everywhere.
