Title: *Sighss* Period :(
Post by: accord03 on June 24, 2010, 02:14:32 AM
I've noticed that when I'm about to get my period or I'm on it, I get really insecure and emotional. I lose trust for my girl and I stalk her everyway I can but when I'm not on it or it's not going to come yet, I'm fine and I feel like a total guy and I don't care about anything or whatever happens. I really hate this. I try so hard to control my emotions but I can't.

From what I heard (...I'm a weird one, I have never had a period before and I'm not on T), that's the toughest thing during the whole period thing. Most people can't control their emotions when they're on their period or whatever happens. Though I guess you can try calming yourself and try to relax a bit more.

Like maybe concentrate those emotions into something else. Listen to soothing music, get some exercise (though if you have the cramps and stuff, don't).

But I guess just try to relax. It'll help you control your emotions and stuff a bit better. And that's just from my experience in martial arts training.

Woah, aren't you a lucky lad. I wish I didn't get mine but I do. I've tried concentrating on other stuff but it's so hard but I'm getting there slowly. I don't ever get cramps, thats weird :P

Haha I guess you can call me lucky. Apparently it's unhealthy though. But to me it's like my body is telling me that I am a guy, and that I shouldn't get periods. Haha!

But yeah good luck!

Yeah I started using birth contraceptives a year ago and they made a big difference. It didn't go away completely, but are not nearly to the severity they used to be.

accord03 I understand your emotional difficulty. It does weird things to your head. Mine used to make me really mean and intolerable >.0

I'm using Implanon, a contraceptive that is inserted under the skin of your arm and lasts for 3 years.  It can cause periods to vanish completely and, since starting it, I haven't had an actual period.  I've had "spotting", but it's nothing too bad.  The moods that usually came with the period has also mellowed out.

You might want to look into Implanon.

I hope so.  I've only be on it for a couple of months, but it seems the spotting gets less as time goes on.  Lots of people have no periods or spotting because it doesn't contain estrogen (I think that's what it is).

Actually, excercise helps with the cramps. A lot. As well as with the emotional side of things.

I mean, sometimes the cramps and the emotional blah makes it really hard to actually get off my butt and get some exercise, but once I do, I usually feel a lot better. Even if it's something as simple as going for a walk. Actually, exercising is one of the few things I've flound that really helps during the red death. It's not a cure-all, by any means, but it really does help take the edge off of the overall BLAHness of it all, both emotionally and physically.

Haha honestly I really don't know. Like I stated before, I don't get periods. So I have never experienced an actual one and probably never will (considering the fact that I'll be 21 soon). But that's good to know. Sorry, I just didn't know.

Everything about my periods has always been extreme. Very heavy and with crippling cramps. Like, there was one time I was in so much pain that my vision blacked out, I became deaf, and eventually fainted from the pain. And that's just the physical stuff. I become very dysphoric, suicidal, depressed, and extremely irritable. It got to the point where I finally gave in and started on the pill. Granted, it took away a good chunk of the physical discomfort from my periods and cleared up my skin, it made my breasts bigger and more tender (thus making it even more difficult to bind). I'm thinking about just getting Mirena or whatever it is, the implant the put in your uterus. I've heard that it's even more effective at preventing pregnancy and it stops your periods. Both of those aspects sound fantastic to me.

It doesn't seem to be recommended by doctors if you're a young female who has never been pregnant.  I talked to mine about it, and she suggested against it because it has a tendency to slip out in a young females that have never been pregnant, and you can't just push it back in if it slips out and, when it slips out, it doesn't work or doesn't work as well.

A friend of mine managed to get it without any issues. Apparently she had some pretty nasty periods too, so she went from the pill to Mirena because the pills didn't help enough. Which is the same boat that I'm in.

I wish I was that lucky (enough to get Mirena).  How's she handling it?

I haven't talked extensively about it with her, but she told me that the insertion was uncomfortable and that she had a little spotting for a short while before her periods stopped all together.
