Title: Last Harry Potter movies...?
Post by: synthesinner on June 24, 2010, 10:17:53 PM
Who is all going to see the last two films?
And by last two I mean it's one film split into two parts. o.O
I'm kind of happy I get to see it. The trailer looked okay and the author of the book. She has a pretty creative mind.
At least in my humble opinion.
What do you all think about the movies?

A few days ago I saw that new one, The Half Blood Prince thinger. I don't know if I could sit through it again. It was exceedingly boring up until the last 40 minutes, and even those kind of dragged on. Granted it wasn't as bloody awful as the Goblet of Fire but it was pretty damn close.

I'm going to watch them!

I love Harry Potter (not the character) and I want to see how they do it!  I'm so excited, it makes me squeal on the inside!

I'll watch it, if only so I can put an end to the more than a decade of waiting on this whole damned thing to finish :P

I'll wait till it's out on DVD. Kinda spoils the (close to $30 movie price) moment when you already know the ending.

$2.99 rental > $30 theater

whaat? wow $30 for watching in theater O.o
well where i live it's more like 10 (units of my currency) which is like $3 or$4 :P

Yeah, I'm going to go see it for sure with a few friends. D8
I enjoy the CG in the movies more then the movies and I sort of grew up with Harry Potter. So, I'm going to end it with this last movie. xD
And 30 bucks for seeing it's outrageous. =\

I love Harry Potter, I've read all the books and enjoy the movies. I don't really know if the audience can really enjoy the movies, especially after the third instalment -Prisoner of Azkaban, without having read the books.
The movies leave out a lot of important and relevant information, so I am sure the last two will stump people as to why the story unfolds the way it does.  :)
But I'm excited!!

I know someone who loves the movies and has never read the books.  And she won't read the books until the movies are done so the books just add to the movies instead of the movies taking away.

And $30 is crazy!  I pay about $8 for each movie, and I sneak in my own candy and drink so I maybe pay $11 in total. <.< >.>

What a fab idea, it will probably enhance the experience knowing the characters already while reading. I think there will be moments when she will say, 'now I get it'.  ;)

I'm not irritated like the die-hard book fans about the differences between books and movies. Only when I've watched the movies with friends who haven't read the books, I did have to fill in a lot of the information for them (e.g who made the marauders map), which of course, I gladly did.  ;D  hehe

i've read 'em all =/ and i guess even if i hadn't ,i'm not even capable of waiting for the movie then read the story
although watching the movie after reading the story has it's advantages

I agree with you 100%. xD I love the books WAY more then the movies but it's also fun to compare the books and movies to each other. I think so at least. haha
I'm that much a nerd and get bored easily. :x It's always fun to compare both movie or book...no matter what it is.

Probably should have mentioned.... $30 covers two people getting into the theater with no pop corn and soda, that's another $12.

They do pocket checks at our theaters, can't even get in with a glasses case in your pocket with out getting asked to show what's in your pocket. Purses are a totally different, looks like a line at the airport getting checked in for a flight =/

That would be why I carry a big purse, or whoever I'm with carries a big purse.  My sister and I would sneak big bags of popcorn, soda, and candy for the whole family in our purses, completely worth saving money over.

I say just sneak it in through your pants. I've done it before. I shoved bottles of soda and candy inside my pants or used my binding and shoved smaller things in there. Just try to walk as normal as you can.
It should make it worth seeing. Dx Possibly...

I just rewatched all the movies with my sister this week and I love them all! The last one was my least favorite because it didn't seem to have a great climax like the rest of them, and my sister told me they changed so many things and from what she told me the book had better scenes =/, but I did enjoy it. My favorite is still the fourth one. My favorite book too. (I read 1-4 lol) But I will probably see these in theaters. I saw all but the 6th on in theaters too. I'm so excited! =D

Will definitely be seeing the last two movies.  Love the books.  Movie (and book) #6 was kind of boring for me, because of all the focus on relationships and I'm just not a big romance fan at all, I'm all about the action.  I wish they'd showed more of Voldemort's memories in the movie, that was the most fascinating part of book 6.

Voldemort's?  Gah!  I can't remember...

I wanted to see more of Snape's memories wherever they were supposed to pop up.  And I wanted to see more of the young Snape...he just looked so sexy in the brief glimpses.

I'm getting more and more excited as November creeps closer.

I read the books, don't think much of the films though. A bit worried about the last book being split in two, it is so uneventful there are some chapters in the middle when Harry, Ron and Hermione are arguing that nothing is happening.

lol.  It's all right, when I read that last night I was like "I don't remember Voldemort's memories....but I can't remember whose memories...".  I would have believed you if you said "Voldemort's memories" to back you up, staying up late isn't my strong suit.

movie just sorta spoils the story(and i mean all of H.P. movies) ,i mean regardless of the lots of essential details they don't include ,and inspite of the fancey graphics, i think it's poorly directed , the director didn't properly take advantage of the emotional situations , besides the guy who does harry potter is sorta bad actor and a bi cold imho . uh if only they let me do it ::)

He is a bit of a bad actor, though in the sixth film he was great especially with the giant spider.  There was even a Monty Python reference!  It was great.

I know people who refuse to read the books until the movies are done because that way the books will just enhance the movies instead of the movies taking away from the books.

yup , but i'm one of those who think that if you watch the movie before reading the book it would spoil the ending for you and hence spoils the fun of reading the awesome story
but still , if they let me direct the movie i'd have made one that's even better than the story *says with a egomaniac voice*

Assuming they do the ending right...Which I really hope they don't in the movies because the ending in the books was a bit lame.

Really, now?  In what ways better?

>> I'd have chosen a better actor for Harry...and I'd have butchered the ending of the 7th book 'cause I don't like the ending.
Title: Re: Last Harry Potter movies...?
Post by: confused on July 23, 2010, 04:57:18 PM
agreed ,ending was a bit lame , i mean the idea itself (spoiler alert!) that harry was horcrux was cool , but last sceen , as well as the way he met dumbledore was blah

in the oher hand in my series of movies , i'd push the actors into performing better , lie in the fifth movie when H.P used cruciatus on pilatrix , DUDE she just murdured your only family ,show more enthuthiasm at least ,plus i'd add ntensly anger/danger music and let the curse last for more tha 0.5 second
and basically show more of reasons and stories behind everything , plus more of the substracted characters , emphasis on things such as school stuff and the little things through out their life that are similar to the childhood memories and current life of most people , so that people connect more with the movie , use of more interesing camera angles (such as bird eye , or focus on the further character while showing a single tear on the cheeck of he closer, blurry, neglected character) , maing nevel longbottom develope into a talented  wizard after emphasising on his story of gettig over his parents tragedy instead of just an overly emotional person (even after he made the little revolution) . anyway , a lot of little modifications  to the story , and the style of direction , i'd have made sure that the movie stimulates empathy and raging tears with he help of right implementation of music ,sequence of events , acting itself and camera angles
and of course , the ending would be more epic , maybe even let harry sacrfice himself to kill voldemort and then his spirit stays in the school to tell the story to all coming generations so it won't be a very sad ending , and then give the ending that says that the story will go on by another prophecey by another wizard , maybe this time it would be a girl H.P ;D

*shudders* I don't like female main characters, none of them have ever been good.

Spoiler

Well...Neville did become a professor of Herbology, so he couldn't have been too bad of a wizard...and I liked the meeting Dumbledore, though I cried like a baby during that scene.  I personally would have killed both Harry and Voldemort.  I was never a Harry fan, he was always too whiny for me.

then androgyne it is :P

and , i mean like making him the next dumbledore ,and the most importantly emphasis on his get over story and maing up a surprising spell just as he gets his resolution
hmm, you have nice ideas kid , maybe i'll have you writing the movie script in my movie :P

*SPOILERS THROUGHOUT*
I'm gonna see them, mostly because I saw all the other ones. After the 3rd one, I said I wouldn't see the fourth, and so on until now, but I guess it doesn't matter. except that before the movies I had images in my head of the characters, and now they're lost. All I can see are the actors. =/
but I'm interested in seeing how they do this. and I feel like there's potential for a good film. like when Ron and Hermione get mad at Harry because they thought he had a plan. I felt so horrible for him and I don't even like the character, and snape's memories (like someone said), and his death, and Doby's death. etc
And someone was saying that the dumbledoor thing was lame. I know what you mean, but there was also something I really liked about it. dumbledoor broken down into a man, instead of an icon. that could be a good scene.
and I didn't like harry during the books, but in the epilogue I kind of liked him. mostly because he was showing reverence for the greatest character of all, snape.
and I'm not necessary against lead females, I just don't like it when they try too hard. like that one chick in the lord of the rings who kills that thing that "no man can kill" and she says all dramatic like "I am no man" or something like that. (sorry is that's a little vague) to me that was ridiculous.

Nope.  Minerva never struck me as the type to possibly be gay and Lockhart always just came off as a pompous prick.

at first I was horrified. I wished I hadn't read that part and I told everyone who hadn't finished yet to skip it. but eventually I got over it. and decided that there's something cute about it. but I never liked the Harry Ginny pairing, so that still kind of irks me.
