Title: Shopping!
Post by: JessieMH on June 24, 2010, 10:35:05 PM
Well today was one of those days that just makes everything feel right, colors brighter, music has a better tempo etc

Went shopping for the "first" time! (the "first" time was just quick with my mom around a store getting the basics, couple tees, sweatpants, girly socks, underwear etc)

The mall was basically dead so I was lucky for that and my mom was with me so if anyone had asked (nobody did) they were for her, just got a couple nice tops, two tank-tops (one pink, one black) and a really gorgeous brown hoodie.  Tried looking for a nice skirt or -something at all- to wear below the waist but everything was either ugly, insanely priced, or just didn't come in my size ???

Anyone else have trouble finding skirts?  There didn't appear to be one single skirt in the entire mall :'(

All in all the best day I've had in a LONG time though :D
Just felt like sharing!

Yay! Nothing to be afraid of right? ;)

I went shopping as well today, wal-mart was quite the opposite of dead :P. I haven't had trouble finding skirts, since well... I haven't been looking, I love my jeans too much ;D.

Anyways good luck on your journey to find a skirt!

Were you presenting as female?

I remember my first time shopping (and I was presenting as female) it was with my mother also, she was very good, and fantastic, tried some clothes on, had lunch, went into just about every jewelry store. She tried to buy me gold earrings and necklaces with stones in them, I don't really take much of a shine to gold, I prefer silver, stands out more on my skin then gold does ^_^
All in all, it was probably one of the most fantastic experiences I have had presenting.

Jessie! I refuse to believe you could not find a skirt!  Millions of them about.
For a first go anywhere skirt get a nice denim one as it will team with anything and will wash'n'wear for years.

better luck next time.

Heh, thx Katelyn, glad your shopping went well.

@ sarahm, no I wasn't, I acted "the annoyed teen being dragged around by his mother" quite well :icon_sadblinky:

@ lilac, well, there was a couple skirts around (I think I saw 3) but one was this horrible old ladies flower pattern skirt that I wouldn't be caught dead in, the other was a denim skirt like you said but it had a flaw in the stitching and well, you just don't buy those

The last one that I REALLY liked, beautiful, simply didn't come in my size =\  So I'm not sure, going to keep trying to find at least one but until then I guess my sweatpants and jeans will have to do.

Gee Thanks! I have those old lady floral skirts..they look very nice with a plain top..
I try to get some stuff from mail order but if I order 5 things four will be out of stock! so annoying.  Just got latest minicatalogue today and the jacket I ordered 5 May is still not back in stock but is promised.
They had a gorgoeus maxi dress but sold out, ditto all the skirts, tops, sandals that I fancied.  This firm has been like this for a couple of years so I wonder if they only order small amounts and prefer to disappoint customers rather than buy bigger lots and have unsold stock?
I have to go into town tomorrow to greet local regiment back from Afghanistan so I can do some retail therapy at same time.

Yeah that's what I did the absolute first time I went out with my parents to get clothes, they brought lots of summer / autumn clothes and gave it to me for my 21st birthday.
I had to act like I didn't enjoy being in the ladies area, and had to talk in third person. Oh I think she'll like this mum! Ahh, Glad thats over ^_^

The first time I went shopping with my wife I wanted a pair of boots, so we had this ridiculous parody of her trying on boots and telling the attendant she wanted them larger so she could give them to her sister

Totally glad that is over. I think I shop most weekends now even if I don't buy, but usually do >:-)

I tend not to wear many skirts as the fit on my body is not good.   For my waist size, they are usually cut for larger hips.   Instead I wear a lot of dresses or long tops with leggings.  I find this is far more flattering.  Mind you, just now I am bumming around in a top and jeans.
