Title: FTM Info in Australia?
Post by: Zrfm on June 26, 2010, 07:06:20 AM
Hey so I live in Perth, Western Australia (Australia) and I was just wondering if anyone had any info about the legal things here. My questions are:

.Are there any surgeons for top surgery here?
.What are the requirements to get T?
.How much does T cost (All kinds)
.How does one go about finding a Gender Therapist and Endocrinologist?

Thanks ^^

Whats up man? I'm in W.A  ;D Finally, another guy in W.A

You have to go to your GP and get a referral from him/her for this gender doctor you have to see. You would have to make an appointment early cause it takes like 3 months wait for you to see him and he'll ask you to come back, maybe after 2 or 3 then he'll give you the green light and give you details of an endo. There, you can start T and etc.

For us Aussie peeps, we have to start from the cream cause of the law. I heard the cream is $65.

I am about to start T soon.

I'll msg you about the details about the doctor.

For us Aussie peeps, we have to start from the cream cause of the law. I heard the cream is $65.

I don't know about state laws, but I can tell you for sure that that isn't a federal law.

I'm being treated in Sydney, and I (and every other FTM I met around there) started on biweekly injections of Sustanon 100. I've never been on a cream or gel.

AFAIK, what T delivery method you start on is generally determined by your treating specialist (usually an endo). Normally they'll have a program they like to follow with their patients. Some prefer you start on gels or cream, some go straight to injections.

My injections cost me about $20 for 3 shots. I have one shot every 2 weeks. That cost does not include seeing the GP to be injected - if you can't find a bulk billing GP (or nurse, or whatever), you may be paying an extra fee for that.

We do have laws (could be state or federal, not sure) regarding filling out your T script. The chemist must retain your script. You must go back to the same chemist for ALL your repeats. You cannot get a repeat within 21 days of having one filled. Each repeat is for enough T for 3 shots.

But they'll explain all that to you in detail when the time comes :).

I'm not too sure cause one of my mate started and he had to get on the cream cause it was the "law". It probably does depend on the endo which I am planning to skip  :D

I'm in perth, and i went straight on to shots. Im on sustanon every 10days and got the cream for dick growth as an extra. There are a few surgeons here for chest surgery, Ed Van Beem, Tony Connell and Dr Briggs and I think Sean Hamilton said he does in reply to an email I sent to him.
There are a few different endo's trans guys can go through, though I have just gone through my GP who has had experience with trans guys and HRT.
I also self inject which saves money on the price of things. I pay $22 for 3 shots and so far I've managed to get all my needles for free from my nurse and all i've paid for equipment wise is syringes which are 50c each.
there is a yahoo group  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/transguyswa/ (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/transguyswa/) which is very informative.

Removed dosage.

Just an additional bit of info on prices -

I got prescribed Sustanon 250 yesterday and the shots are about $45 for 3.

Normally when you're on Sustanon 250, you do it every 3 weeks. I'm on it every 2 weeks (same schedule as I was on Sustanon 100) 'cause my endo said I have enough "wiggle room" for a higher dose to speed things up a bit without it converting to E.

I don't care about the money... I want my beard NOW, damnit!

Welcome to the forum from Sydney! You probably won't be hearing much back from those other guys, most of them haven't been around for ages. Hopefully someone can help you out in Perth.
