Title: Skin tags? From T? Or from increased T level?
Post by: zombiesarepeaceful on June 29, 2010, 01:29:11 PM
I've heard of these before. My ex had them cause she had PCOS and high T levels. Now I'm getting them since starting T. Only on the genital area though...on the inside of my thigh, and some above my dick on the area where hair grows. Are these normal? What can I do about them? They don't bother me, except for the one on the inside of my thigh. It's the biggest, and my underwear manages to rub it when I walk and makes it painful. I don't want to mention this to my doc if at all possible. I know they're probably possible to remove in the doc's office if they numb it, cut it out, and stitch it up, like they did when they had to remove a mole from my back. But is it possible to remove them at home using anything? I thought about using nail clippers, seriously..but I'd have to buy some numbing stuff first cause I tried and it HURT.

I have a couple of my neck and shoulders but they're small and don't get caught on clothing so I ignore them. They were already there pre T btw.

I've read that you can tie thread around them, leave it on for a few days and they just drop off when they're ready.

I had no idea this could be related to T levels. I've noticed a few on my chest area lately and just figured I'd lose them when I have chest surgery anyway. Are they a symptom of high T?

Idk. That's what my ex said hers were from. And I've only had them since I started T. I might try the thread method Greg, thanks.

^^^^Looks like I'm in luck. They're common, not necessarily are from high T levels, and can be removed w/o seeing a doctor. It even mentions the string method.

I just recently developed a small one on my eyelid.  I don't like it.  It makes me feel old.

Google how to remove them. Lots of doctors suggest removing them at home. It's no biggie.

Tie a bit of thread (or dental floss!) around it, and it cuts the blood flow off. Eventually it'll just fall off. Pain free!

I've actually heard of people clipping them off with nail clippers too.

Haha all my info is coming from some random BBC health show that i watched. The doctor showed a guy how to remove them. Anyway, google it!

https://health.google.com/health/ref/Cutaneous+skin+tags

"Cutaneous tags are very common skin growths. They usually occur after midlife and are usually harmless and non-cancerous (benign). The tag sticks out of the skin, and may have a short, narrow stalk connecting it to the surface of the skin.

Cutaneous tags are usually painless and do not grow or change. However, they may be irritated from rubbing by clothing or other materials. Cutaneous skin tags are more common in people who are overweight or who have diabetes. They are thought to occur from skin rubbing against skin, so they commonly form in skin folds."

Gah, I have them and I hate them.
-_-

Thanks mom, heard its hereditary.
They supposedly come from too much friction, clothes rubbing etc. That's why they're found in common rubbing areas like the underarm, neck, etc.

Wish they'd all just go away, &never come back.
:(

I've never had skin tags. I feel lucky, lol.

But yeah, from what I know you can remove them yourself.

I cut them off. There were three. One on the inside of my thigh, and two on...painful areas. Iced the biggest one and tied a string around it, then clipped. All gone.
