I'm Aimee,
I didn't become self-aware unitl I was 9 or 10. I'm a little slow I guess. I know many of you knew something was seriously wrong well before that.
I have many health issues, a lot of which stem from my ataxic cerebral palsy. It essentially just makes me uber klutzy. I've been told by some that it's an endearing trait. I think it's a pain most of the time, though not nearly as painful and frustrating as being in a body that doesn't fir me for 37 years. Mentally I'm somewhat younger than 37, I've read that for transgendered people that isn't all that unusual.
I love computers and technology. I also love gaming, playing video games allows me to immerse myself in another world and I don't have to be me for awhile, if that makes sense. I also love to read. I'll read anything from Stephen King to John Grisham to Robert Fulghum. I'm a huge lover of chick flicks. I love music, all kinds from Metal to Classical and most genres in between except for Country and Polka.
I'm caring for my Mom now, who has terminal cancer, so my life is on hold while I'm there for her. I moved from the city to the country, and the culture shock was extreme. It's going on two years now though, and I'm mostly used to it, though it is pretty comical here sometimes.
Thanks for reading, and thank you to Susan, and the Admins and Moderators who keep this site running. The overwhelming amount of information here is so very helpful and encouraging.
Hi Aimee,
You spell your name the same way as my little sister.
Like you I didn't figure it out until I was 9. (thank you Phil Donahue show)
Also like you I have some serious health issues. (we wont bother going into that now, we are talking about you right now)
This is a good site with plenty of good people.
Welcome aboard and I hope we can assist you in your life path.
Hi Cynthia!
Thank you for the welcome. I love learning, and have learned a lot about myself since joining and reading about other's experiences, and have gotten support and hope from some very kind people. I know one day I'll achieve my goal of making my outside match my inside, just not yet.
I'm sorry to know of your health issues, living in a body that isn't mine is bad enough. When you factor in the fact that it doesn't work right half the time, it can be unbearable. I have no choice but to push forward though, giving up is not an option.
It's really cool that your little sister and I spell our names the same.
All of you help out more than you know just by being here.
Hi Aimee, :icon_wave:
Welcome to our little family. Over 5100 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.
Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams. Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.
But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister. :icon_hug:

Hi Janet,
Thank you for the warm welcome! I feel very comfortable here.
A family reunion would be enormous. Probably would be a lot of fun though.
I'll read the links you gave me soon, thank you.
I don't know what advice I can give, but I'm good at supporting people and just being there to listen or to give out hugs.
When I figure out how to start my transition, all of you will be the first to know.
I'm going to have to figure out something soon though, living is becoming almost unearable for me.
I just don't know who to talk to here, or what to even say.

I do believe that this is a good start....
We
(colectively, I can't promise I will always be around) are here to help eachother. Kinda what we do around here.
Hey Aimee, nice to meet you. ^.^
I hope things become better for you as you get started, and I feel that I have so many things still to figure out as far as transitioning goes. What are some of your favorite games?
Hi, Aimee:
My, you certainly have your hands full. There's an old saying: "In every difficulty, there is the seed of an equivalent, or greater, benefit." Lot's of truth to that. We just have to be open to that benefit, believe it's really there and, in time, it will reveal itself.
Actually, everybody proceeds at their own pace. You are moving along in a way that is right for you. Spend time at this site reading the info and people's posts. Befriend the people you like. Just gotta have faith. It'll all work out. You'll see!
