I'm probably being thick here (not really a change i know) but when you have chest surgery i'm presuming the surgeon gives you the best looking chest he can. Now i'm getting on for forty and until i get my exercise regimen sorted out my body isn't in its best physical shape so will they match my top half to the rest of me cos its not very often you se someone with a nice tight chest and a saggy stomach
You have to watch this. I have heard of a few surgeons who, without permission, leave fatty tissue in the chest area so that the moobs will match the rest of the body. If that's what you actually want, you should ask for it. I have no idea how overall weight loss will affect a post-op chest later.
If you manifestly don't want moobs, say so--and maybe get your surgeon to acknowledge your preference in writing.
Are you planning to have surgery before or after weight loss? Sounds like before...
If i follow the NHS route i'm probably looking at up to three years before surgery which should give me plenty of time to lose weight. It just seems to be something i'm not very successful at. I'm in a viscous circle- need to exercise to get the body looking how i want it to but hate exercising with a body that looks like this
I noticed after top surgery (I was heavy for me, weighing in around 165 or so on a 5'4" small-boned frame) that my top was pretty darn flat. That didn't really bother me much. I did start thinking about it more when summer came and I was wearing a rash guard with an ultra-flat chest when other men had bumps.
Now that I've lost nearly 30 more pounds it looks far more normal.

I had that same problem. T helped (not sure if you're already on it or not).
What worked for me: Body For Life by Bill Phillips.
Plan to start up again as soon as I'm healed from surgery.

No not on T yet either but i'll get there one day
Walk.
I'm not kidding when I say that, but walk. Use smaller plates and bowls when you eat, too, and eat a little bit healthier.
My mom lost 75 lbs in a year just by walking a mile or two a day and by eating smaller portions and using healthier foods, but the food wasn't tasteless. She also didn't deny herself sweets, she just cut back on them and went to one small stick of 60% dark chocolate (which has been proven to help mood and weight, but I'll have to go find the studies) a day.
Edit: (saw the post below mine) My mom was in her mid-40s when she lost the weight.

That will definitely help. Something about estrogen in the over 40 crowd that makes it nearly impossible to lose (BTDT, no problems ballooning to 180 and staying there forever, it seemed!) I still recommend BFL though.

i belong to slimming world so my diet is about as healthy as i can get it. i go to the gym and do cardio and lift weights nothing changes. i cut out all full fat sodas and even most of the diet ones-nothing. stopped drinking alcohol-same thing

Make sure you're not cutting out the healthy fats and aren't taking in too much sodium. A lot of things that say "healthy" contain 25% or more of your daily amount of sodium, and too much sodium will keep the water weight on.
Diet sodas are pretty bad in the sodium category, which is why I won't drink them. If you're lifting weights, you might be gaining muscle mass so it's keeping the weight up--which is fine. Have you gone to a specialist to talk about helping you losing fat weight?
no but worked out programmes with the trainers in the gym that r supposed to burn fat. Mine just thinks its got a comfy home where it is and doesnt want to shift

A specialist might be able to help. =) Just in case there's something hormonal or something going that keeps you from losing the weight.
i ve definitely got something wrong with my hormones- too many female ones ;D

xD That made me laugh. Well...other than that. :P
There was someone on here awhile back who got top surgery and since he was still a bit over weight the doctor left some extra fat in the chest so that it'd match his body as he worked the weight off.
Afraid I can't remember who the doctor was though.

If what you are doing isn't working, try something else. :)

Very true. I lokked at the BFL last night and it actually appeals.
