Hi All,
We all wanted to be something when we were young (children I mean, before societies roles and stereotypes were imposed)
For me, when all my friends were going to be firemen, police officers and racing drivers, I was going to be a Hairdresser/Makeup artist
Still with me, still haven't done anything about it...Until last week, I started making some enquiries,
-Tali
Dancer, I was just one of those kids who loved to dance. :icon_bumdance-nerd:
I always wanted to be a Jedi. But that dream is lost now as Ive turned to the darkside.

lol, well the dark side has it's good sides too , anyway , may the force be with you
me i've always wanted to be that famous awesome musician , who writes music that inspires the world , but that went out of the window when i found out that music careers are often much too hard to achieve
I've always wanted to be an actress and a singer!
if i could do anything, and i mean anything i wanted, i would be a fashion model, but i'm not to sure about it, just because it can be a pretty ugly industry when it's all about how other people want you to look, so i'm leaning more toward being a hairstylist or a fashion photographer, and that's just me being myself without worrying about stereotypes or any other influences.
My dream career for most of my pre-highschool childhood was to be an astronomer.
I wanted to be a ballerina-doctor-bus drive all at the same time.
I wanted to be sooo many different things. Fireman, paleontologist (Until I realized that the job consists of tedious brushing at dirt), wildlife photographer, cryptozoologist... now I'm not sure anymore. I would like to get a job in social work so I can help victims of abuse, but I have heard that it is difficult getting a job in that field.

We've a small demand for social workers in So. Mississippi. Mm...cryptozoology and paleontology--I'm going to go back to get a degree in Paleontology.
It may not be a high valued ambition, but I wanted to be like my Mom. A housewife and Mother. Imagine my disappointment to find out I was not meant to be that.

Darn, another one lost the dark side, what do they have that we don't? I heard cookies, but that must be lies... they are the dark side.
I actually just wanted to be rich enough to pay off all my parents debts, and then be a writer. I've always been scared of bills since I knew about them, but I've also always wanted to write.
Still working on both parts of that dream.
I wanted to be a nun...I wasn't even religious, just liked the idea.
Then a RAF pilot...far too short-sighted for that. And I hate heights. And being upside-down.
A potter. No artistic talent at all.
An occupational therapist...put off the idea by my Mum telling me I was 'too clever' (ha ha ha)
Ended up a teacher, which I hate.
Maybe one day I'll be a habit-wearing, vase-spinning, high-flying helper of the needy. Who knows! 8)
I've already given my childhood one but now I want to be a habit wearing, vase spinning, high flying helper of the needy!! (sorry for nicking your idea turtle but it sounds awesome! :D
I don't really remember wanting to be anything when I grew up as a child. I may have had something, though.

Idem ditto. Must've been 6 years old then. I remember that little 'round with the teacher 'What do you want to be when you grow up'... And then after all the kids did their tell I started crying because all the other 'girls' had said they wanted to be a Mom... 'But I don't want to be a mom! I want to be an astronomer!..' Took my teach a long-long time to calm me down.. 8)
Boringly I wanted to either be a storyteller (which is what I am now at last working to become)
OR
in complete moments of madness I used to fantasise about becoming a scientist and inventing a time machine so that I could go back and somehow prevent my Y chromasome from working... or a biologist who could create a plague that I would then infect myself with and would turn me female! Talk about crazy - but I was a most fanciful child who walked around in a strange dream world of my own most of the time.
As you can tell from the fact that I have a Bsc in physics and an MA in creative writing the madness won initially, but after repeated failure to invent a viable time machine I gave up, had SRS and pursued plan B!
It's a wonder I didn't end up delusional - although I suppose some people who don't get the SRS and transition thing might maintain that I did! ;D Ah well At least I'm living the dream  (Or am i..? maybe this is all a drug induced hallucination... :police: yes doctor I'm coming for my next injection now!)
When I was little I wanted to be an Adult XDD Such as -- Working and such... But then when I was 9, I wanted to be a psychiatrist. XDDDDD Now I want to be a Police Man.
When I was little, I wanted to be a whole range of things. XD Zoologist, Marinebiologist, Veternarian, Doctor.. When I got a tad bit older I wanted to be things that were a tad bit..strange, like a vampire, werewolf, or like the character Danny Phantom. XD
But now, I want to aim for being a Geography Teacher, Doctor, Voice Actor, or Photographer.
That's always been a tough question for me because I never could decide what I wanted to be no matter how hard I thought about it. I'm still the same way, just cursed with very little motivation I guess.

XDDD Adriann~ You want to be a teacher..? I never knew! :O
I wanted to be a few things..
this is in order that I remember.
1. Artist/Farmer. I was going to have a farm with my big bro, and we would take care of the animals, and I would also paint them.
2. Vet.
3. I wanted to work in a factory screwing on the lids of toothbrushes. (weird I know)
4. Artist.
5. Theater design, costume makeup, set design, costume, behind the scenes stuff (this is my NOW dream)
and, although I never wanted to be a fireman, I must also say that I NEVER wanted to be a princess.. although I think my mom made me one for halloween once..
I wanted to be a paleontologist, lawyer, or teacher. While paleontology went out the window when I found out I suck at anthropology - I'm graduating college May 2010 with a degree in Political Science and going to grad school for my Masters in Public Administration. I'm planning to get a graduate certificate in Queer Studies, too - so I can teach Queer Studies to college students. :) At least one childhood dream is going to come true.

I've said this several times! I was talking to you about it too when I was down in Florida with you guys. XD
I've never been able to look the future in the face, never really believed I had one, never really knew what I wanted to be. Still don't. When people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I'd tell them any old rubbish. I still do.
I just want to be reasonably fed with some good friends and a library.

You probably don't remember 'cause you were absorbed in that video game of yours.
When I was young, my default answer was teacher. I don't know what I want to do with the rest of my life though.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Back then (5-10 years old) I used to read a lot of books by seasoned authors like mary higgins clark, dean koontz, agatha christie, and michael crichton to name a few, and wanted to be a writer myself. Since 10... well nothing much. Now though, I wish to take my online freelancing and turn it into an actual business with steady flow of clients. :D
I wanna be an actress and pop singer!
-Raya
In kindergarten, I also wanted to be a paleontologist. I suppose my love of dinosaurs eclipsed everything else.
(Dinosaurs are still pretty awesome.)
I also told people that I wanted to marry my dog.
if i grow up, i'm going to have a farm - or work on one - and a studio space. to make art.
as far as money goes, i'm surviving now? so... we'll see what happens.
