EUGENE, Ore. -- A former employee of Eugene-based cereal company Golden Temple says gender issues, not the economy, are behind the firing of at least 30 employees in the past three months since being bought out by a Midwest-based company.
In May, Golden Temple was sold to Hearthside Food Solutions, an Illinois-based food manufacturer. Wyona Wolf worked at Golden Temple Cereal for nine years.
"Back in 2007 is when I came out as being a transgender female," said Wolf... "The HR department at Golden Temple was very supportive of me. They assured me that I'd be taken care of, and that any type of harassment against me would not be tolerated," said Wolf.
