Title: How do you see yourself?
Post by: aydan_boy on July 26, 2010, 02:34:05 PM
So, I'm wondering, what do you see as your physical downfalls that stop you from passing? How about the features you believe help you pass better, or make you feel more male? This is mostly for the pre-ops, but anyones free to answer.

Example:
A few pluses for me is the fact that I'm rather hairy for my so called gender, hairy legs, arms, and a snail trail. Another plus are my large feet, but thats about all i can say.

A negative is my rather large bubble butt, and curvy legs. Plus the other "bits", but I kinda think those go without saying.
How bout you?

Well I find what helps me is that when I cut my hair super short like it is, I have a boyish face, especially since I have my biological father's smile. I'm rather hairy myself and my breasts are fairly small so that helps.

What doesn't help is I'm really petite so if I'm not careful, I have a curvy figure. Also my voice is super high pitch. Which sucks. Most of it is I'm just really small and petite. HOWEVER, I do have really big feet for my size so that does help. :)

I'm 5'10" and slender which really helps a lot I think.  I have broad shoulders and a defined jaw.  My voice is slowly dropping from T which helps.

Unfortunately my feet and hands are small.  My hips could be a bit more narrow but I'm working on that.  I'm pretty femy in my mannerisms and pattern of speech.  Someday I'll pass as a gay male I hope.

Pros: I have a very defined jaw and square face that is on the masculine side of androgynous. I have a broad chest and shoulders. I also have muscular arms. My voice is also very very low for someone who was born female, and it is actually lower than some cisgendered guys I have met. I'm also super hairy, more hairy in fact than MOST cisgendered men I have met.

Cons: While all of my working out has made my torso more like a "trunk", I still have an hourglass curve. My legs are also very curvy, and my boobs are huge and very difficult to bind without hurting myself. I'm also short at 5'4".

My feet are normal for a man....size 10.
I have "man hips" so I'm told but I still have not so male love handles which I'm trying to get rid of.
I have man hands.
My voice was kinda low pre T and now it's in Darth Vader range.

The negatives are pretty much very low on my list lately and I try to forget about them. But my face structure isn't as square as I'd like and my adam's apple doesn't really match my voice pitch. I'm not as hairy as I'd like either but I know that'll change in time. And obviously my chest and junk.
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?
Post by: insanitylives on July 26, 2010, 06:21:03 PM
Pros:
I'm 5'9, average height for males is 5'10. [Related: Shoes 10 1/2 mens, at the smallest, most shoes I need wides or an 11]
I'm not *too* slight.
Hair, just about everywhere. I swear, on T I'm going to look like a bear.
I AM capable of building muscle, just not as much as I'd like.

Con:
VOICE!! I sound 12 (Height is a mixed blessing on this one)
My face is rather round (I think. Others have said different)
I have no fat on my hips/butt, but they are still huge.
Breasts. 'Nuff said. Really...
Total lack of confidence (this I know I need to work on for myself, thank you)
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?
Post by: jmaxley on July 26, 2010, 06:21:29 PM
Pros:
Huge shoulders
Masculine face
Masculine hairline
Large build
Big feet
Hairy for a female
Chest isn't really huge for my size, I've passed without binding
Way I walk and sit

Cons:
Voice (although it's kind of low for a female, still doesn't pass usually)
Short fingers, make my hands look girly
Overweight, makes my hips and butt more obvious
Short
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?
Post by: Shang on July 26, 2010, 06:27:52 PM
Pros:

I'm 5'10".
When my hair's cut real short I can look more like a boy than a girl.

Cons:

Big boobs, which I can't bind because no matter how I try to, it hurts.
Big hips
Hourglass figure
Kind of "soft" arms that look more feminine than male
I sound like a chick no matter what I do.
Long neck
Long legs
Medium build, would appear smaller if I bothered working out

I'm sure there's more.
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?
Post by: madzam on July 26, 2010, 06:57:08 PM
Pros:
*now that I can accept it* I pass fairly well
I pull of some pretty sick hairstyles without too looking feminine
My voice could pass for male or female (I am pre-t)
I'm built like a teenage boy for the most part
My muscles get detail easily but I'm too lazy to work out usually

Cons:
My voice reads female sometimes
Can randomly be really self conscious
My hands are small and girly
5'6 right now probably will only get 1-2 inches taller
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?
Post by: Tad on July 26, 2010, 07:33:39 PM
Pros?

Rather masculine face
5 foot 9.. size 11 to 12 mens feet depending on the brand..
Broad shoulders, I easily put on muscles..
Relatively small chest.. I got a big barrel of a rib cage.. 42, so the stuff stuck on them isn't such a huge deal..  I've never bound.. don't need too to pass.
Haircut definately helps.

Cons.. well obviously the lack of junk in some areas.. and bits in the other areas
Lack of hair in all the appropriate places.. such as the face _ t will fix that once I get it..
Voice falls into the.. it could be male could be female category.. so.. meh.
Lack of an adams apple.. but meh.. I have a super short neck anyhow.

I also have large feet for my size
And I have large hands, only like a cm smaller than my dad's
My voice is pretty low, passable as a guys
I'm good in the body hair department, just wish I could transfer it more to my face lol
I have a wide neck
Broad shoulders and a fairly nice jawline
And my confidence in the way I present myself is high, not to a conceited point tho.

My height :/ at only 5'4
My chest
My "curves" tho I can hide them well

For the sake of not driving myself crazy I'm gonna make this list for "not pregnant" mode :P

Pros:

I have a square jaw
my ribcage is so big that it sorta cancels out my hips (i look stocky)
I have really muscular legs, my calf muscles especially
I have the same receeding hairline as my brother :D

Cons:
34DD :(
Short, 5'3
Petit frame, very small shoulders, size 4 shoe, hilariously small hands that guys make fun of
I gain weight easily and being chubby cancels out most of my pro's, so I gotta be really careful
I have alotta junk in my trunk, mens jeans....no room :P
I have pretty much no body hair - offset by the fact I can grow a bumfluff moustache, but it just looks ridiculous
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?
Post by: Silver on July 26, 2010, 10:11:18 PM
Pros: Decently masculine face
Apparently my voice passes well enough, but it sounds pretty bad to me.

Cons: Feminine bone structure (girl hips and thin rib cage.)
Not hairy.
Really thin arms.
Small hands.
Pencil neck.
Chest.
Lack of male. . . equipment.
Only 5'6," 115 lbs now. Pretty thin by my standards.

Hopefully, T will help me solve these problems.
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?

Downfalls:
Short
Big thighs
Small hands
Small feet
Small fingers
Short arms
(Basically short &stubby all around)
Chubby cheeks
Female smile
Big moobs
Non-male hairline
Curvy torso
(Love handles)

Boosts:
Hairy
Broad shoulders
Defined jawline
Somewhat masculine face

Apparently my voice &height pass as a young boy.
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?
Post by: Seth88 on July 27, 2010, 04:48:13 AM
Bad things:
Short-5'2
Very small feet-Uk size 4
I would say I am probably quite petite, if I lost a couple of lbs. Of course the massive hips and bum give me away, although I am a huge fan of wearing my trousers halfway to my ankles, which helps a bit.

Good things:
Don't really know for this bit. I quess my size would help me pass as a 12 year old boy probably (I'm 22!).
I guess with the right haircut I like to think I have a boyish face.
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?
Post by: Turtle on July 27, 2010, 04:54:34 AM
Hmm:

Pro:
Non-feminine attitude
Lots of tattoos
Reasonably straight up and down body, when not carrying too much fat.
Hair like a sheep (ok, I know that's not masculine, but it isn't feminine!)

Con:
Very fine build (narrow wrists etc.)
5'5"
Big bangers (36D)
High-pitched voice.
I basically look like a woman  :-\
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?

I can't think of a single pro   :-\   I just look awful.  I dress very well, maybe that's a pro?  Actually I do have quite good leg muscles from running.

Cons:
Look like a girl
Big fat hips
Tiny waist
Boobs
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?
Post by: kyril on July 27, 2010, 05:46:41 AM
Pros:
I'm tall enough, at 5'7".
My feet are just barely big enough, at size 6.5-7 US.
I have big, prominent muscles in my shoulders and neck.
I have a rectangular face with a square jaw, male M-shaped hairline, and prominent chin and not much fat considering my estrogen-dominated hormone balance.
I have a small but visible Adam's apple.
I have veins that protrude in my hands, forehead, and forearms when I get warm or agitated.
My smile, walk, sitting posture, gestures, and mannerisms are naturally androgynous-to-masculine.
I've always had a firm handshake.
I dress fairly well and have found a haircut that suits me.

Cons:
My butt is enormous and spreading by the minute.
My hands and forearms are really, really tiny.
My upper arms look small and flabby even though they're much stronger than the average woman's.
In fact, the entire portion of my body that's covered by a T-shirt and shorts looks flabby.
I've grown saddlebags mysteriously in the last year.
I can't grow remotely passable leg hair - it's so bad I'm better off just shaving.
I have giant freakish saucer-sized areolae and penny-sized nipples as a legacy of pregnancy.
But worst of all, because this can't be covered by clothing or disguised in any way: My voice is unmistakably untouched by even the slightest trace of testosterone. It's not high-pitched, it's actually relatively deep, but it's got that clear bell-like tone without even the slightest hint of male multitonal resonances and vibrations.

Stuff other people would list as cons but I don't care:
I'm nearly hairless.
I have no tattoos, piercings, or body modifications.
I have a fairly small overall build, especially in the shoulders and rib cage. - I used to wear size 34 bras on the smallest hook, and now I wear a size XS binder even with my C-cups and being fairly chubby.
I have a bit of a bubble butt.

Stuff other people would list as pros but I don't like:
I have naturally coarse facial skin.
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?
Post by: Berren on July 27, 2010, 11:38:10 AM
Pros;
I'm pretty hairy already
Baggy clothing to cover up chest lumps/butt
I have the "man walk" down, plus I sit like a man
I can sometimes get a convincing guy's voice going on
Broad shoulders and a wide-ish neck

Con;
I look younger than I am if I wear tighter fitting clothes
Small nose
Dubious eyelashes
Round face
Big boobs
Biggish ass
I talk in a higher voice if I'm uncomfortable
I "awww" too much over animals
No confidence
I'm only 5"5
Weak
Twig arms

I didn't really know where to put my mannerism either; I kind of react in a soft-ish way to things, and I guess I can be easily offended/upset by something. But in my body language I'm very boyish, and I tend to swear and sniff my nose/'snook up' quite a bit and I get called a pig for doing it lol.

Pros:
Telephone pole-like build
At 5'7" I'm not too short
US Size 9.5 shoes
Long fingers
Somewhat defined jaw
Small but visible adam's apple

Cons:
Narrow waist
Chest, obviously
Voice (low for a female, but doesn't pass)
Feminine hairline
Face/cheeks are too 'full' and feminine

Mannerisms are both good and bad.  My natural walk and everyday mannerisms have always been masculine, but when I get upset/frustrated/angry I cry. :-\

Pros
-  My boobs have shrunk (I used to be a 30E.  Yup, you read that right.  After breastfeeding two kids, I am a 34C.  I bind effortlessly, thank the gods).
-  The menopause appears to be giving me a boyish frame.  My waist has thickened considerably and my twig-thin arms are finally gaining a little fat.
-  I have had tattoos, short hair and wardrobe full of "butch" clothes and boots for eons.  It isn't a major culture change to just start wearing men's trousers rather than butch women's ones.
-  I have a wonderful partner, friends and family who happily try to remember to call me by my chosen name and use the right pronouns.  This really helps on the confidence front.

Cons
- I am tiny (5' 5") and slight.
- I have a pretty femmy face (boo!)
- I have a long, thin neck.  But the dumbells are helping me considerably with that one.
- I have quite a low voice, but not blokey low.
- I am as camp as Christmas.

Pros:
-Small chesticles
-5'8" which is average for hispanic males
-Androgynous voice, usually slightly more male
-Body hair
-Androgynous face, more male
-Large hands and feet

Cons:
-Body weight --> Fat distribution = Hips
-Androgynous voice, occassional female slip
-Androgynous face, female lips

I'm going to add to mine...

Extra Cons
5,4 -If I'm luck I MIGHT hit 5,5. If I'm LUCKY  >:(
Low voice, but clearly female

Extra Pros
Small chest (I started binding when i was a small B...I think I've gone down to a large A though)
Practically no waist, due to rib cage (Yay heredity!)

cool thread.

ok pros.

I dont have super large hips, I have love handles, but I think on T I should be pretty narrow
I have a small butt
I have not super huge boobs
I have nice (i think) masculine cheek hollows (check profile pic)
voice is... eh, more female then male

cons
I have no freaking body hair.. I havent shaved my legs in months and I can hardly even see the hair
I have a soft face and soft skin
small hands and feet
not super tall maybe 5'5
tiny freaking shoulders

goody.

Pros
thick eyebrows
German jaw
really hairy arms, legs, everything
Not too curvy
Supposedly my hands look masculine despite being small
thin lips

Cons
I'm 5"1'
Can't always control my voice
I'm excitable and blab a lot, thus losing control of voice, sounding like a girl

Pros:

I think my mannerisms are pretty male.

Cons:
Large chest
Large hips
I'm 5'1
My face looks feminine
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?

Pro's

Always had a masculine voice, naturally deep
Thick eyebrows
Masculine-ish face before T
Not overly large chesticles
No waist or ass
Very hairy
Very quiet and monotone
Broad shoulders and back.
Muscle definition rocks when I work out

Con's
Very tiny build. 5'1" and only about 115 lbs. Thin wrists, tiny hands and feet.
I think most of my con has to do with my height and body build, since I have a small frame. If it weren't for that, I think I would have less issue passing.

Title: Re: How do you see yourself?

pros:
i'm tall (5'11'')
and skinny (not a lot of butt nor boobs there)
i have learned to lower my voice and now i can do it all the time and it feels and sounds natural

cons:
super-skinny wrists and arms.
my face is so feminine that i never passed with short hair (actually i pass better with longer hair)
i'm really pale and fragile looking, so even though i pass a lot now, people tend to think i'm a junkie (when they used to think i was 'hooot'  ::) )

Well I've been on T for a year, so I pass.  But I'll mention things that bother me and that I believe that are dead give-aways to my female past.

Pros:
-I have enough body hair to cover several people.
-5'8 and 10 in mens shoes.
-My voice isn't too helium-ish

Cons:
-My @#$%^&* body fat hasn't redistributed yet. I have a small waste and good sized hips.  No fat on my stomach.  It's all in the typical female areas that it was pre-T
-Really thin forearms.
-I think I look younger than my age (19) because of the baby fat that's still in my cheeks
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?
Post by: Nesque on July 30, 2010, 06:53:01 AM
I am not on T yet, but I will be next year (thank goodness -_-)

Pros:
-I am quite hairy
-I have a square-ish bone structure, and a bit of an adams apple
-Pretty thin, big hands/feet
-Generally behave like a guy/sit like a guy
-Very androgynous face

Cons:
-Super soft/smooth face
-Short, about 5"4
-My voice...when I get excited, or I'm talking to someone thats cute etc, my voice goes really girly and high pitched
-Very pear shaped body, very feminine body shape under all my baggy clothes
-Big hips/lovehandle stuff :/
-Medium breasts
-Really plump-ish face
-Tiny waist
-Sticky-outy ass, really curvy spine o.o
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?

No T yet for me  (can't afford the Therapist right now...garrr!!!)but:

Pros:
-with short hair I can pull off the boy-band look (which is better than nothing I say!)
-long hands/fingers and feet
-not very curvy
-man legs (very prominant kneecaps, and not curvy)

Cons:
-the Butt. It's girly. Blah.
-my smile...gives me away instantly
-voice
-I'm short :(
The biggest thing that keeps me from passing is my attitude. I'm so nervous all the time, and that makes me appear feminine.  :icon_shakefist:

Anyone else think these look like shopping lists? haha!
Title: Re: How do you see yourself?
Post by: Lewis on July 31, 2010, 12:25:05 PM
Pros:
Masculine facial features, heavy jaw & chin
Masculine distribution of bodyfat - skinny everywhere except for beer-gut, very little on hips & butt.
Very small moobs. Like, the last time I had them measured I was like a 36AA. They don't show at all when I'm binding.

Cons:
Short - 5'5
Very small feet and hands. I have to buy my shoes in the childrens' section.
Voice - not terribly high pitched but does give me away. I sing mezzo-soprano - REALLY need to change that.
Girly legs, big thighs and cellulite  :(
Not very hairy (except the inside of my shins)

For my pluses which help me to pass:

-I have a pretty slim and non-curvy body - I'm underweight which helps.

-I have a fairly strong jawline.

-My eyebrows are thick, but they're a little too naturally arched for my liking.

-I have pretty good muscle definition even though I don't work out much.

-I'm hairy, too!  WOOT!

-My body language has always masculine - it's not much effort to 'try' to 'act' more manly.

-I have a masculine haircut - and fortunately I think I pull off the mohawk pretty well.

-I think that my eyebrow piercing is a subtle thing, but helpful.

The drawbacks and things which don't help:

-My voice, although ambiguous, is still too high-pitched to fool anyone.

-My eyebrow shape.

-My skinny slender hands.

-My small nose.

That's about all I can think of.

Now that I've cut my hair, I'm seeing a lot more pros than cons, actually!

Pros; No hips.
        Average amount of body hair
        Usually deep voice
Androgynous, leaning towards masculine face shape
        Masculine walk/mannerisms

Cons; Sometimes, when I'm meeting new people, my voice goes really highpitched and I need ot stop that. >(
        Small hands and feet.
        Short. D: (5'1")
And, throwing this in here because I spend most of my time on the internet; my style of typing. idk if you noticed but I use ":3" "^^" and such a lot, and people always call me a girl. xD

Good things:
- small chesties
- shoulders just a bit wider than hips
- kind of deep voice
- getting better at the dude-walk.  I kinda mosey right now.

Ungood things:
- I have some annoying feminine mannerisms that I can't seem to stop doing.  Such as playing with hair/jewelery while talking to guys I like.  Wearing jewelry, even.
- stupid little girly hands

More good than not-good is good, I guess.

Pros: I'm 5'7 which is okay for where I live and my age, I'm taller than some bio males, I have a low voice for a female but it makes me sound like a 14 or 15 year old bio male (I'm 16), My face is naturally square, I build muscle easily, I grow hair everywhere and it's VERY thick, My shoe size is 91/2, I have small breasts so I can easily hide them.

Cons: When I'm scared or nervous my voice is higher (I'm very shy) I am very slim so my neck and arms are thin, I look, in my opinion, like a butch lesbian which I loathe or maybe because that's how most people think of me as, I don't want anything to do with being female at all so calling me butch is offensive, My hands are small but my dads are to.

Pros:
Small chesticles that are easy to bind
Naturally hairy
Average height

Cons:
Very femme facial features
Small feet, size 8 in mens
I talk very girly when being polite

All in all I look like a butch lesbian which sucks, but I find men still checking me out so *shrug*.

Pros:
-I don't have a huge ass.
-Good at walking like a guy.
-I normally sit like a guy.

Cons:
-I still have a habit of crossing my legs like a girl.
-Feminine voice.
-5'3" .____.
-34C.  :-\
-I don't have a dick.
-Like a lot of other people here, I talk/act girly when being polite.
-I still act like a girly girl when I'm flirting with a guy or a guy is flirting with me (for some reason, when I'm flirting with/be flirted with by a girl, I'm much more masculine.)

Pros ;D
I have a pretty stocky build and can sometimes buy things from the mens' section. I'm only 5'5 but I don't mind much 'cause my family is short and my bio brother is barely an inch taller than me. My mannerisms are masculine without me trying and my way of thinking is pretty male. (i.e. completely oblivious when it comes to girls even though I am one biologically)

Cons >:(
I have kinda small, but wide feet and ridiculously small hands. Even for a female small, they're pudgy and people always bug me about 'em 'cause they're apparently funny-lookin. I've got big hips, mostly because I'm overweight and a round, young face. Though I'm sure some weight loss would help that.

I'm pre-everything and living (reluctantly) female, but I'm not too worried about passing even though I'm not particularly male lookin'. I've been mistaken for a guy before (usually when I have my hood on) so I think its my mannerisms, and the way I carry myself (when I'm not being too self-conscious) that really help.

Pros
-Relatively broad shoulders, stocky figure
-Low voice (been called manly many times)
-I'm Asian so I can get away with "softer" features
-"You have no hips, kid!"
-Naturally quite hairy!
-When I work out, I gain muscle fairly easily
-I have my dad's smile

Cons
-I'm only 5'1"
-Big in the chest
-Kinda fat thighs :/
-I sound like a girl when being polite
-Intonation varies too much for a dude when I speak
-Lack of a peen bothers me and I don't have the dude walk down just yet
-I have a really round, soft face :/ too much for my liking

Oh, and this. Weird considering all the cons I just listed.

Well... I'm curvy, I've got an hourglass figure with a pair of massive chesticles, and right now I've got farm girl arms. My hands and feet are tiny. My cheekbones are pretty fem. My legs... they're pretty fem too. Just about everything's pretty fem.

BUT ON THE BRIGHT SIDE!!! I build muscle really easy pre-T, I've got a decent amount of body hair, and I've got a strong, square jaw >:3 if I can just get my bodyfat low enough to get some definition in my musculature I might not look so weird afterall.
OH! And I can tell that if I ever start T I'm going to have a happy trail >:3 I would love having a happy trail I would be so pumped about it I'm serious
