Title: Girls know!
Post by: lilacwoman on July 28, 2010, 05:22:11 AM
Girls and women know an awful lots about males and females wanting to change sex because:

they have all seen lots of soaps, films, books, magazine articles about it,

they have all been in underwear/dress/shoe shops when guys have tried to buy women's things and its been obvious that its for them,

they have all been in pubs and clubs and bars and seen groups of '->-bleeped-<-s',

they have all got friends whose 'friend/brother/sister/relative' has changed sex or 'gone queer',

they have all had discussions about how they would feel/react/behave if they found their male was seeking a sex change like the one on that days' news,

they all know that in 'that' house there are a couple of men or women  and one of them takes the male /female role,

any  other things?

Oh?  ???  My wife doesn't seem to know.  I don't "think" she's "playing dumb"...  And no, she just doesn't get it.  She's hoping for a cure, or that it's a phase, or just some new obsession I'll get over in a few months... etc...  And yes, she's a "girl" (natal female)

I was raised in the girl community, and we never did any of those things.  Maybe that stems from living in a very small town and never leaving, but I doubt my best girl friend even knows what transgender means...  I feel I'll have the most explaining to do when it comes time to tell her.

I haven't met anyone outside Susan's who knew anything.

Had dinner with a TG group meeting that included two delightful sets of parents who had never met each other before, who had found out that they were very proud parents of daughters whom they had never known and had never expected were daughters.

Nice people.

Very proud and accepting of their new daughters, but lots of questions about " You wore my clothes, how did I never know?" All the usuals.

In fact very charming people who were relaxed into being at a TG dinner in a public hotel and offering help, love and support to all.

There are nice people. There are parents who deserve the title of being parents.

Only people I found that got it that weren't trans were my therapist, doctor, and other "trans-allies."

Maybe women understand MTFs? Not everyone knows someone queer, many women don't know about just like many men don't.

I've found women seem to react to gay men with a lot of tolerance. Some don't. Only occasion, (I think) I have mentioned anything relating to transision, the girl reacted rather negatively.

Men will often be negative because they think the gay person is interested in them and talk about their own bottoms. (As if!!).

I can see where you're coming from though lilacwoman. I think the world has moved on quite a lot since I was last in it. If you get my drift.
