MUNCIE -- Ball Memorial Hospital president Mike Haley says the recent allegations that a transsexual woman was mistreated in their emergency room "concerns us deeply and gave us pause."
In a statement released by the hospital on Wednesday, Haley said the hospital will now work with two advocacy groups -- Indiana Equality and Indiana Transgender Rights Advocacy Alliance -- to review "BMH care policies, employee benefits and diversity training."
I sincerely hope the campaign to highlight this utterly disgusting behaviour doen't let up, in light of this internal investigation, as I am pretty sure that is what the hospital are hoping.
The issues here go beyond the treatment of this woman.
There are clearly several registered nurses who lack the competance to do their jobs. Re-training for them needs to start from the begining.
The drs involved, will, no-doubt, be walking away. Hopefully their names will be noted and they can be hounded in any other posts they take up.
The job of medical staff is to treat the sick. Not enforce what they may believe are social norms. As long as this sort of thing is not properly dealt with people's lives will be put at risk. People will die and their death certificates can be easily forged.
even when the hospital staff are nice and decent and offer treatment they often get it wrong
Pronouns are messed up constantly, and when you indicate you are married to the person with you they look at you like your lieing.
