Title: Smell different?
Post by: lilacwoman on August 21, 2010, 02:28:49 AM
Do FtMs lose any distinctly female body smell - underarms/chest and places in reach of your own nose  :o - and have no smell or start smelling like a male after some time on T?

MtFs find that we lose the male smell and even on a hot day or doing hard work we don't have that sweaty stink.

So how does it work for you?

Well, I haven't started T, but I know that I definitely don't want to smell. I'll get cologne.

I haven't started T (two days to go!) But I know that change of body odour is supposed to be one of the "side effects". Its also listed on the info sheet that came with my prescription. It says body odour may become more "mettalic" So I assume that we do.

Yes, you smell like a guy when you're on testo. Got my first shot in July, and god did I stink.  ;D

Yes, and I prefer my male-stink to the f-stink.  ;D

I no longer smell like a man, I do have a feminine odor. My genitals scent is sorta a blend of male and female genital scents.
My spouse since starting T smells like a man and hir vag has a scent like a penis.

Hormones also change our pheramones. [I wish I could remember the document I read this tidbit. I need to start saving this crap for citation purposes.]

Yes, on T you smell (er, stink?) like a man.  It's a stronger, more bitter smell.

...I kind of like it, to a point.  It's much better than smelling like a girl, at least.  But it's kind of strange to get a whiff of myself after doing strenuous work in hot, sweaty weather--I now smell exactly like my dad does after he gets done working.

i've got a masculine body odor but I don't "stink"
Or maybe I just can't smell it.. hmmm...

I mean... I smell it when hubby hasn't showered in a week.. but I don't smell much nor fast.

o.O?

I confused myself!

LoL I totally agree with that. Yes, when on T we tend to get a muskier smell and I too prefer that to the female scent.

I LOVE my man stench. Sometimes I get self conscious...then I wonder if everyone else can smell the new me or not. I think not...cause people are used to smelling men everywhere. It's just me that notices that I smell completely different.

I like the heads up because I'm not on T yet.  I'll have to definitely make sure to get some things that smell like flowers or fruit or something to wear.  I'm not a big fan of the male scent because it smells like taco meat to me (I have an off sense of smell) at least in my area....Most of the guys I've met here have smelled like taco meat and it drives me bonkers, but I also love guys who are willing to try and smell like flowers because the scent of flowers or fruit because I enjoy it....and if I"m close to the person I just might want to do certain things.

You might want to get your hormone levels checked, you might have something "abnormal" going on there, which might also have an impact on other hormone levels and make you ill if you don't know and react early enough.

I have weird natural sex hormone levels, and I smelled like a woman on estrogen, then like a young teenage boy or mix of male and female off estrogen, then like a man when I was on testo, and now off testo like a teenage boy/male-female mix again. Plus other hormone levels are abnormal as well, insuline which has caused me to have pre-diabetes, which means I have to take care not to let it degenerate into diabetes type 2. I's a PCOS, but the sex hormone anomaly is much more pronounced in my case than it normally is with PCOS so there seems to be something else going on as well, my endo says, but the other thing is unknown.

I can't wait for this to happen to me. For the guys on T how long did it take for your smell to change?

Not long.  As I recall, it was one of the first changes and happened within a couple months.  Interestingly, I seem to smell more male some days than others, and sometimes I can still smell the female smell underneath the male smell.

A few days. Was kinda confusing at first as I respond sexually to male smell, but could not smell my own female or neutral smells I had before. (I have an impaired sense of smell.)

As a spouse I think I can weigh in on this also. My sweeties scent changed somewhat in the first week. In a month the change was very pronounced. By the time 3 months had gone by any trace of female scent was gone and now ze smells completely male in all ways.
I thought I wouldn't like it but I am finding I like my mates man scent where other mens scent kinda puts me off.

:D :D :D :D :D  OMG!  I wasn't expecting to hear guys wanting to stink like a man!  Those  pre-Ts among you have something to look forward to.
While I've lost the male smell I can't say I've got a female smell.  just kinda neutral perhaps. and disguised by all the fem soaps and things I use.

I don't know how people are supposed to smell. The girls I've been around have smelt like perfume, and the only girl-sweat I've smelt was a bit different from my own. I'm a sweaty person; my sweat smells kind of... harsher than that girl's. I am female-bodied.
Right now, I smell like the tar-scented soap I use, like smoke and bonfires and autumn and the cottage my grandfather built up in the mountains.

I love how men smell. I cannot wait until my scent changes. Apparently I have no body odor of note unless I go without showering for over a week (which happened during an unpleasant circumstance) so it will be an interesting change. I hope my favored (men's) cologne will still smell good on me.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I'm not on T yet and when i do any physical activity i smell like a football locker with equipment that hasn't been washed for weeks.
I should be on T within a few weeks and i hope the smell dont get worse. It'll knock people over.

If you have or are going to have this problem then may I strongly suggest you shower using a simple soap? ie, one without perfume or colouring.

On the other hand, you may like it.

I personally hate my male smell and keep it under control using simple soap. It was recommended to me by someone many years ago.

I use dial antibacterial body wash. My skin is sensitive to a lot of body washes. I can't use bar soap I have to use body wash with mosturizer or something.
