Once his car was gone, I left.  I wanted to warn my SO that he might be coming.  I drove by the house we were to be living at and found his car outside.  I just kept on driving and went back to campus.  I found a payphone and called my mother; she assured me she'd calm him down.  When I finally got off the phone with her, I walked back out into the parking lot and saw my father standing there near my car.  He was changed.  Solemn, silent.  I ignored him and walked straight to my car.

"I know."

"Know about what?"

"About the sex change."

A breeze blew by.  My mind ceased being able to form a coherent thought.
