MUNCIE -- Beginning next month, Ball Memorial Hospital employees will receive mandatory lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) awareness training.

That training is a result of allegations voiced by transsexual patient Erin Vaught, who said she went to the BMH Emergency Department on July 18 because she was coughing up blood, but left after personnel ridiculed her, calling her "It" and "he-she."

MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) - A Muncie hospital is making changes after a transgendered woman claimed she was mocked and eventually denied treatment at the facility earlier this month.

Erin Vaughn made the accusations towards Ball Memorial Hospital. Since then, the hospital had been working with equality groups to improve services.
