I figured since we have a spirit and magick thread, why not one on vampyres? If you do or don't believe in vampyres why or why not? Personly I believe in vampyres, I believe there are two types of vampyres, one that needs a little blood to sustain his or her energy and two the type that feeds off of prana (energy). These aren't immortal beings by any means. The way their energy is its like it leaks out and they need others energy to sustain themselves otherwise they would get sick. I am hoping this will be a interesting thread.
Nope. Never found evidence of a vampire.
It's a yes or no question, no just isn't all that interesting lol.
Of course I do. We Lycans have been at war with them for centuries.
Suggestion look up Mechaille Belanger
I have interacted quite a lot with people who identify as vampires, and have even written articles about them for people who know nothing about the subculture.
Essentially, these are people who are lacking something important in their body that they can only get through other people, and so they use any method they can in order to try and get this "something important" back. Some have found they can only get this from drinking other people's blood (which they attain with consent from willing donors), and some find ways to "feed" from energy. There are energy exchanges when anything contacts another thing, these "energy vampires" have just found a way to recognize these energy exchanges to boost their own energy levels.
Sadly, the real vampires are often seen as crazy by people who have never interacted by them. They know that their need doesn't have any evidence supporting it, but there aren't many scientists spending money of figuring out why some people feel the need to drink human blood.
Yay! Someone who knows what I'm talking about! I personly know a few people who are vampyres, phi vamps, and I know what they are capable of all too well experiranced it firsthand. I have talked to one of my groups about vampres before and helped educate them on this topic. And they enjoyed it and I was awarded the bloody fangs award for telling them about the ethics of the vampyre with grace and diginty. And I am proud of that for my own reasons. But I am glad that you to help educate others about vampyres :) awesomeness.
But no, these vampyres are not crazy at all. They could go to sheirnk or dr and come back with a clean bill of health. They sane individuals. The ones who are not awakend scare me though.
As they're mythical creatures....not in a real sense... no.
But I love the entertainment value many of the stories, books and films bring...
However as a term it has value...
And some people (the negative needy manipulative ones)...can indeed suck the living joy out of you....
Though few of us are ever that immune to suave, charismatic machiavellian types...

My experience has been similar. There are some odd people who identify as vampires, but the same could be said of any group. From what I understand, there have been studies that have found there really is a segment of the population who receives a "boost" from being around others. It makes sense when you think about it. Human beings are social creatures. So many of us need company and the touch of another human being. These folks simply have a more extreme need and have dealt with it how they need to.
I believe in energy/attention vampires as I know of one at another forum. I don't believe in the blood drinking type though.
Personally, another word for vampire is phlebotomist. Those blood thieves at the docs.

Its spelt Vampire. A Pyre is a funeral fire.
And Vampires are bats that contrary to the stories do not drink blood, the ones you are talking about are mythical folk lore stories from Eastern Europe.

Very funny LordKat! I would ad bed bugs and mosquitos to the list of vampires
Definitely got to add the mosquitoes, never thought about bedbugs tho. Ticks would probably fit the bill, they get mighty fat on blood.

This is generally what I've encountered within the modern-day vampire community, at least the community that I've encountered. And it's pretty much what I feel on the subject as well.

From what research I've done, "vampyre" is a spelling found in Europe and mainly during the early 19th century and earlier, but is still found occasionally. I could be wrong in that assertion, and I'm sorry if I am.
Vampyre is spelled that way to separte real vampyres from the vampires found in fiction, movies, and the like that isn't real.

I still don't get why they do that. To me, "vampyre" looks more role-playish than "vampire" and I'm less likely to take the person serious unless they're from Europe, but that's just me.
I'd love to be a female version of Lestat but Vampires are just mythos. Just because someone has a compulsion to drink blood doesnt make them a vampire, just a blood drinker. It's kinda funny how most play up the entire goth thing to go with it.

That's pretty much what I was going to post when I saw this thread title. I spell it with an i though. Also, there are hybrids who feed using either method.

i think i only believe in ghosts.
I believe in them. Actually, I think I may be a psi-vamp. I always feel tired and out of energy, but that changes when I go to the store or other places that have alot of people around.
A book that I recommend to anyone who wants to read more about vampires is "Vampire Nation" by Arlene Russo.
I've read bits about this over the years about this stuff (particularly the energy vampyre thing) and it goes back a long long way, I have no idea whether they really get the benefits that they claim though.
It's not something that really appeals to me unless you get a cape!
Do you get a cape? :icon_joy:
