I have decieded that my new goal in life is to be a complete failure. The reason for this is that if my goal is to be a failure I cannot help but be a success. If I fail at my goal of being a failure then I am a sucess in life so I didn't fail. but if I am a failure in life then I suceeded at my goal so I still am a sucess. so if I make my lifes goal to be a failure I cannot fail!
sorry I truely believe a little silliness goes a long way!
I'm trying to follow you.
Your saying your goal is to fail? ???
So if you attain your goal than you will be a failure? ???
But if you fail you will be successful? ???
I think I get it. ;D

Be silly it good for the soul.
Thats a deep goal right there. Good luck with your ultimate success that is inevitable in one way or the other.

I tried to come up with a humorous answer to this, Jesse, and I was unsuccessful.
And, to echo the sentiments of a nice lady on another TG list, No sense in being pessimistic, it wouldn't work anyway!

You never fail until you stop trying.
Whatever you can conceive and believe you can achieve.
Good luck!

if you are trying to go right in the first place then wouldn't 3 lefts be 3 wrongs? so see I was always just too lazy I always stopped at two wrongs and if I would have just fallowed through with one more wrong I would have been right!!

Oh, I didn't make that up. It's referring to left turns while driving. You would end up going the same direction if you made 3 left turns as you would making 1 right turn (assuming 90 degree turns).

I cuaght that I was just trying to be a smart a** but I guess that that part of me isn't even smart. Oh well I guess it's a good thing I'm cute!

LOL I'm trying to figure out if I should be hearing that in Graham Chapman's voice or John Cleese's.
Oh well. Just remember what Yogi Berra said when one of the team members said they (the team) were lost: "Yeah, but we're making great time!"
Jessie,
Allow me to be the first to congradulate you on success.
Love always,

As for success, it is often built upon failure and tastes much sweeter because of it.
L in T..
you're closer to right than you know..
Know how many kitchen failures lead me to the next culinary discovery or what failures ended up being as good as gold..
strange perverbial world we live in!

That's so true Lost.
Your right on Ricki.
Thomas Edison once said that he learned with each failure. He was talking just little invention the light bulb. He tried using lots of different types of material as the filament. If I remember correctly it was more than a hundred before he was successful. In fact he didn't call it a failure it was just the process of elimination until he found the right material.
I say that is a great way to look at your endeavors and life itself.

The number of failures for Edison numbered in the thousands. And many other inventors had failed before him for almost a hundred years. Those who were careful and took notes made important discovery for those who followed, for you see, they discovered the things that would not work. Sometimes we fail to learn from our failures.

Thanks for the correction Cindi. I've got a little rust in that noggin on mining.

That is sad. :'( Because we can learn so much from them if we are willing.

All so very ture i try and apply a lot of that thinking to things but i guess i am human i have not applied it every where consistently yet but as always a work in progress...
I think sometimes not normally there is nothing if little gained from a failure but on the average there is always something to be gained.. those experiences add up?
I remember this one day quite well two march months back chilly yet in Pa I was headed up to some rock craggs to do some early climbing and rapelling I had on cooler weather fleece tights and such, a big 65 pound plus heavy bag of climbing gear.. there awaited my nemisis...a huge tree fallen accross a large stream (in spring easy 3' deep in spots and small rapids and stuff) maybe 25-30 feet accross.
I had walked and balanced hundreds of times accross this tree..slipped ackwarly a few times but never fell.
So here i am a harmless March morning i get up on the tree pack in tow, hiking poles in front and i start accross and after 15 feet accross i finally discover that wet rounded wood does not give much traction.. after a slip i slipped backwards like a ton of heavy bricks into the water i had to take my pack off to get up out of the water, it was soo cold like maybe 50 degrees...
Worse wouldn;t ya know there was this lady parked by the hiking path nearby screaming are you okay are you okay.. do you want me to call 911...
I was no no.. after i gather my self and gear up and sloshed it out of the water i walked to my car to get towels and dry off my dignity she came over and said you sure you are okay i laughed and said oh ya only my pride is a bit dented, she laughed! I still went climbing second trip across well i was already soaked? i sloshed through lower water and when i got to the rocks made a fire to dry off some and i committed my self to most of the day and damp and cold regardless...
I guess the moral of the story was now after hundreds of trips accross the fallen tree and always wodnering wow what if i fell... i had the experience of falling. no it was not a pretty one to have but that adds to the experiences and also to my successes and adventures..
