Title: drains
Post by: xxaussiexx on September 04, 2010, 12:58:02 PM
hey guys,

i just wanted to ask those of u who've had surgery.  I'm not getting much in my drains but yesterday my right side bulb was getting quite clear and then this morning its gone back to very dark blood.  SHould i be worried or is it just doing its thing?  like i said, the amount is the same, just the substance has changed...

Cheers.

Probably just doing its thing, unless there is more pain or something unusual at that site.

I believe my drainage changed a lot, too, over that first week.

Probably nothing to worry about. I ended up with some horrible things in my drains that ended up being perfectly normal.

Yeah when small 'solid chunks' came out that was a huge shock, but apparently that's expected, although I didn't know it until I called my surgeon. I needed to make sure things weren't falling apart!

Thanks, I was getting a little worried that i'd done something!  When you had your drains removed, was there still stuff inside or had it completely stopped draining?
I'm getting mine removed tomorrow (thank god!!) and there is still stuff draining, not heaps, but a bit.

Mine were still draining when I had them removed, and the doctor put thick gauze pads over the holes, since they'd continue to ooze for a bit. And yeah, it was a huge relief to get mine removed. Just a bit of stingy discomfort for a moment and then nothing but relief.
