Title: Does being mixed gender ever get you into embarassing moments?
Post by: Kendall on December 10, 2006, 10:11:17 AM
I was sitting there watching some pretty cute anime one day by myself. My gf walked in and did a "Awwwe... how cute," with a sorta soft voice [she is normally very strong voiced]. My mixed genderness had got me embarassed, lol. I face turned red.

Or I have been in a store shopping, eyes lingerred on a piece of clothing or toy where she noticed, then she has jumped at the moment to point it out.

In a way its fun, and I guess turning red faced is just part of the sensitive nature that is a part of me.

Shopping for feminine items in the male mode of dress can be very embrassing in a store with other shoppers especially other male shoppers with their wives.

I joined just to respond to this...maybe I'll post an introduction sometime.

Anyway, yesterday I was finishing up a project that has deprived me of sleep for a while...I was eating dinner with a girl I know, and said that afterwards I would go home, put on pajamas, and collapse.  She replied something like, "Yep...I have acquired nightgowns!  They are silky!"  I said, "So have I, actually."  (She has seen me wearing skirts, and has even said of one of my skirts, "I may have to steal that one from you sometime."  So this wasn't totally out of the blue.)  She said at some point that this could confuse my suitemates, if they saw me walking to the bathroom, into thinking that I was a girl that I was having over.  I said, "Yeah, I'm pretty hairy...I'm tall...but I guess all these cues would be outweighed by 'lacy pink nightgown.'"  She said, "It's pink?"  She didn't disapprove; she was just surprised.

Anyway, later that night, when I was leaving the computer lab where I did my work, I said good night to her (she was there studying or something.)  She said the same, and as I was halfway out the door, added, "Enjoy your lacy pink nightgown."  Maybe I wasn't embarrassed, exactly, just surprised she would say that.  I kept walking out the door, but did overhear someone ask her, "Wait, what did you say?"  I have no idea how she responded, although I think I'll ask her sometime.  Eventually, I turned back, went back in, and said to her, "Oh, by the way, I plan to.  Even though I may never hear the end of that now."  I was laughing to myself all the way back to my room.

So maybe this isn't quite on the topic, since in fact, I wasn't embarrassed.  I'm not ashamed to enjoy wearing a lacy pink nightgown (and I am wearing it as I type, by the way.)  I love the way it feels, and yes, the way it looks.

Oh, only everytime I forget to say The Lake House is the perfect date movie and go on about how neat it is that they combined a SciFi story and a love story into one movie. Or when I forget that to the other guys in the office "you know what would be cool?" isn't.

Gee, imagine all the things that will suddenly make sense when I come out at work. ;D

Hi and welcome ChildOfTheLight. Please do post that introduction.

Yes.

I know, you all want details...some things have already been mentioned...shopping for "intimate apparel" when there are other shoppers around...handing those undies (along with makeup) to the pimple-faced redneck kid at the checkout (thank God it's Christmas and they think its for someone else).

Other things...comments by co-workers about your long fingernails or new clothing habits...meeting a friend or co-worker you haven't seen in a long time at the store while in makeup or totally en femme...people discovering the woman who smells so good is really you...

And a new one from last night...I met my son for supper after I had been shopping for the day...had my eyes made up and nails polished, wearing fem clothing (jeans & sweater), beard growing back out...first time he has seen "the new" me.  Everything went well, he was very accepting...even said I looked nice (if a little hard to get used to).  But that first time of my son seeing me was a little awkward and certainly wouldn't have happened had I been all male.  Then there was the part where he told me that his girlfriend wasn't surprised because I "sit and act very feminine a lot of the time"...guess I'm just not the man her ex-cop father is...Thank God!

But that's entirely the thing Ricki, it's NOT a chick flick. If it was I'd just enjoy it and not say a word. But you've got the SciFi story "for the guys" and the love story "for the gals" all in one movie. I'd be OK if I stuck to talking about the SciFi side of it. It's when I start getting too into the love story side that I get into trouble.
