Title: If you could be a teenage girl, what kind would you be?
Post by: sysm29 on September 10, 2010, 11:30:53 AM
I chose a mixture of all four.  I'd want to be beautiful enough to go out with glasses and no makeup and long hair and still be beautiful.  I'd want to be active and participate with other kids in physical activities.  I'd have a social side and then I'd have the side that preferred to stay home and watch a movie or read a book in the park alone.  I'd not really want to be a beauty queen but I'd like to take lots of beautiful pictures.  and id have a nonconformist side because I would want to be fearless, and not become a clone, I'd want to be an individual but at the same time be very popular.

and yes, unlike what actually happened to me, I'd be sexually active as a teenage girl.  being a virgin into your 20s and having no experience further isolates you, plus its lonely as hell, so I'd probably be making out with boys all the time, and I would have probably done the whole football team.

so what about you, what would you have been like?  let your fantasies come out.  I'm sure a lot of us would love to be beautiful teenage girls (at least i do).

Jockette for me I think, although oddly enough I was never very sporty as a pseudo-male.

Sporty girls definitely seem to have more fun, and a better attitude to life. I can't be bothered with all the faffing about with makeup and the like, plus my mother was definitely in that mould as a keen Womens Hockey team player, so it's a  case of like mother like daughter. ;D

I'd choose a mixture of 2.  Girly Girl and Alt individualist.  Basically skulls and bows.  I'm not personally very sporty, and I think that I'd be well read but not "bookish".

http://www.amazon.com/Loungefly-Hello-Skulls-Flowers-Canvas/dp/B003NGYU22 (http://www.amazon.com/Loungefly-Hello-Skulls-Flowers-Canvas/dp/B003NGYU22)
or http://www.amazon.com/Outer-Rebel-Fashion-Beanie-Crossbones/dp/B0030V8XLY/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&qlEnable=1&qid=1284136976&sr=1-12 (http://www.amazon.com/Outer-Rebel-Fashion-Beanie-Crossbones/dp/B0030V8XLY/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&qlEnable=1&qid=1284136976&sr=1-12)

I am a girly girl drama geek at heart, but I also like a lot of the fashion and styles that would be considered alternative.  (for example if i could get away with it I'd have a combination of gothic victorian steampunk + hello kitty and sailor moon.)

I would not be a nonconformist out of fear of the bourgeois but would just want to be myself, do the things I enjoy, wear what I want and to hell with high school societal expectations.  My popularity would be a result of finding friends who share interests and if that means I wouldn't necessarily make the social scene thats fine by me.  If I got invited to activities that I was interested in attending with the "cool kids" I'd certainly make my presence known.

Basically, I would like what I like and do what i feel like doing because that's what I enjoy and I'm proud to be me.

Shy and sweet. Very naive. Mega bookworm.

I was naive at that age, and I don't think that would change.

I went for non-conformist. That's me I'm afraid. Down to the marrow in my bones.

Kinda chuffed that it's the majority, (so far).

hmm, if the majority are non-conformists then who are the comformists? :)

I picked that one as well, but I wouldn't take pride in being different. A person is who he/she is and one shouldn't make a fuss about it. I know, I know, this is only a game - but I've just never been good in playing games... :)

Well, while I enjoy paintball, it is the only sport I enjoy, and when I used to play in tournaments I really hated the competitive atmosphere, no one wanted to have fun, they wanted to win, so definitly not jockette.

I like fashion and makeup and all that stuff, but I don't think my intrests are so overriding or shallow that I would be the super girly girl, even though it is probably a second

I act shy and naive, but it is not at all who I truly am so I am not that

A blend of all feels like a cop out to me, therefore the only thing left is the alternative girl.

I never seem to be able to conform into patterns that others expect of me, as a male I am into all kinds of girly things, and a a girl I would still love my Linux, Paintball, and gaming which are all stereotypically considered male pursuits. That and liking Leona Lewis and Dimmu Borgir the same on my playlists doesn't put me in anyones definition of "normal" it seems..... Ironically enough, being different is the most popular option here....

I don't think of being a non-conformist as being different.

A non-conformist is someone who thinks for themselves.

I noticed that all animals seem to have the physical attributes to survive in their own eco-systems, except for humans. Humans are astonishingly weak, feeble and suseptable. Our only attribute is our intellect. It's what has taken us from the trees to outer space.

I like being human and celebrate the unique quality that has allowed us to survive and prosper.

For me, being a non-conformist is being human.

I'm assuming this is "what would you want to be?" not "what do you think you would actually have been given your personality and looks and so forth?"

given that assumption - #1 all the way. though i doubt i'd have ever been elected homecoming queen or whatever...i tend to figure I'd have been the school slut and that girl never gets to be most popular in the more traditional sense....but otherwise, in terms of dress and attitude, very much the girly-girl.

I like my sports, and the 1 thing guys love, more then sex it's self, is a girl who is toned, and gorgeous.

I am actually planning to tone up, since I have childbearing hips, and a figure, my figure will only get better. So much better! Plus I am a bit boyish, but not unfeminine. I prefer to be around guys then girls, because usually girls are just total bitches or they ->-bleeped-<- me off by being skanky and flirty with all the guys around them (even if they have a boyfriend) So yeah. Guys make me laugh, I have more fun with guys so I prefer to be around them. ^_^

I would be me, but freer. I didn't have a bad teenage experience, but it felt stifled and I would give anything to relive that as a goth girl. I'm naturally introverted anyway; not as shy as I thought I would be even when attempting to 'present', but I do often prefer my own company. It would simply have been nice to look like I felt inside. Consider me shy, and alternative - the contented girl in the black lace skirts, earphones plugged into some Muse. :)

Well I was, sort of, partly, part-time half way ..... LOL! .... and I know what I would have been like if it hadn't been for my little medical defect and it isn't on your list.

I was into horses and figure skating. I disliked frilly and lived in jeans and a western shirt, usually with boots.

If I had been born normal, I would have been a parent's nightmare because I went from quiet and shy to outgoing and kind of wild at puberty. I was head over heels in love by 14 and if I had been fertile I probably wouldn't have finished high school.  :o

Pebbles.

At the risk of going off topic, I suggest you are mistaken.

Our depth preception is and colour vision is useful. But a bit of a handicap at dusk.

Our muscle mass is negligable. Especially compared to other animals. Our stamina is lousey. I very much doubt we would have ever chased anything quite so ferocious as a hyeina. In any case, we need to eat the meat of vegitarian animals. Humans are not capable of sustaining a run for more than a few minutes. Our tolerance to heat and cold minimal. Since we lack fur, heat burns us and cold causes us to slow down.

Our only advantage is our intellect, I suggest.

And I celebrate mine.

Well, actually, she's right. Humans originally evolved to chase down prey such as antelope for hours until it fell down exhausted. That's why we stand on two legs, it's great for conserving energy. Some tribes in Africa still practice this, and it works out great.

But I picked a mix of all four. As I've found out before, becoming too "specialized" for lack of a better word tends to wear on my mental heath.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persistence_hunting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persistence_hunting)

"The persistence hunt may well have been the first form of hunting practised by hominids. It is likely that this method of hunting evolved before humans invented projectile weapons, such as darts, spears, or slings. Since they could not kill their prey from a distance and were not fast enough to catch the animal, the only reliable way to kill it would have been to run it down over a long distance.

In this regard one has to bear in mind that, as hominids adapted to bipedalism they would have lost some speed, becoming less able to catch prey with short, fast charges. They would, however, have gained endurance and become better adapted to persistence hunting.[1] The evolution of the distinctively human sweating apparatus and relative hairlessness would have given hunters an additional advantage by keeping their bodies cool in the midday heat."

Just to give an example, a cheetah can only sprint for about 60-90secs, if it continued to sprint it would die from overheating. A human can run for hours, it is very hard for us to overheat. We have a lot of advantages that aide us with long distance running. I wouldn't base the capabilities of humans today when our society has changed so much, from hunters to settlers.

Katelyn-W.

Not sure why someone felt the need to create a category they call persistant hunt for humans. In reality, there are two basic hunting methods, the pursuit and the ambush.

I would dearly love to discuss this further, but it is so off topic and would be completely unfair.

Shy and sweet, naive, but not a bookworm, artsy fartsy, feminine, not sporty, poetry loving, chick flick girl, into cuddling and wearing SO shirts because they smell so good and bring sense of the person when not around, easily hurt by hurting words, forgiving, but that isn't a teenage girl, If I could I would, but the Woman I Am!

I did not pick any item in the poll because, I'm a mixture of these three:

  • A jockette, a sporty kind of girl who's a bit of a tomboy
  • A nonconformist, alternative girl who takes pride in being different
  • Shy and sweet, kinda naive, a bookworm who likes being by herself

I never liked girly girly and I still don't, feminine yes, girly girly no.  Then again it would be boring if everyone was the same.  Other traits that I have are being intellectual, love chick flicks, science fiction and who loves being cuddled.

However, I had all those traits listed above when I was a teenager anyway, so nothing has really changed except that now I have a boyfriend who takes care of my other needs. :embarrassed:

Kind regards
Sarah B

I would worn a tight black mini dress, 4-inch high heels, and long blonde hair (with dark roots) with red lipstick. My eyes would had been smoky, and smudged as if I was crying.

I'll still be me inside.

I'm more concern with the 18-21 age group, in this image.

Well, first off, I'd sell my soul to be a teenage girl!

Briefly, I choose all four, but for slightly different reasons.

Girly Girl:

I want to be majorly hot, but I don't want to be a cheerleader, and to heck with the football team, although The Pittsburgh (My hometown!) Steelers of the 1970s rocked my world!

A Jockette:

Swimming is my thing here, but I'm really not a jock.  I work out faithfully though, eat healthily and very much believe in exercising to stay in shape.  Tomboy?  Not me.  I LIKE girls who are tomboys though.  Go figure, but I like many kinds of girls.  In fact, I adore girls/women.

A Nonconformist:

This is me, ... heart, body and soul.  Part 1960s hippie freak holdover.  Part theoretical physics and pure mathematics buff.  Literature and philosophy aficionado par excellence.  Love ALL kinds of music from all eras but have a peculiar penchant and powerful propensity for good old late-1960s/early-1970s rock and lapse into spontaneous spasms of air-guitar playing to this very day whenever a major rock-out song comes on the radio as is my wont.  Have been a sunbather and skinny dipper for well-nigh 30 years now and have frequented clothing-optional resorts whenver I could.  If I was a teenage girl, I'd be all over that scene.  Finally, I am congenitally and pathologically allergic to rules and authority.  Always was.  Still am.  Proud of that.  This is the main reason I bagged college ... in my senior year even.  Mongering after money is not my idea of the life well spent anyway.  Career?  Not on my time.  I know how to make money, but I don't enjoy it.  The life of academe would have suited me rather well if I had actually had a real career.

Shy Bookworm:

Bookworm?  Me to the max.  Shy?  Not for one second.  However, I cherish time alone to read, write and think.

Now, imagine the teenage girl described here running around with fairly long, straight hair, mini-skirts or short-shorts, halter tops or cute but close-fitting tops, anklets and sandals, and that would so be me.  Is there such an oxymoron as a classy slut?  If so, I would so be her.  I know, I know ... shameless, but, hey, I can't help it.  Thanks!   :D

I doubt if I'd be that different to how I was as a teenage boy lol. I was a bookworm, but also a rocker, and a dangerously rebellious alcohol and weed fiend lol. My life would have been similar-  just in reverse. I would have fallen in love with a guy - and then got dumped, and then become promiscuous with both sexes - pretty much what I did from my mid teens onwards, after being dumped by my first true love!  >:-)

I chose the ultimate girly girl, a cheerleader, or a beauty queen. If I started there I could always go non-conformist and also have a secret bookworm side that few people knew about until I let them in ;) I'm thinking along the lines of Megan Fox. Its far easier to step down the ladder than to climb up it.

Thank you, I think that is the best response to this poll. My teenage years are behind me, and, frankly, transition is not about reliving those days or acting like some teenager in heat, it is about being the best woman I can. When I transitioned I was 34, and I transitioned as a 34 year old woman, nothing less.

Note that all the following is coming from someone who likes girls.

Do you think a "jack ass guy" will be sad and be all sulky? You'll be begging for mercy. Let alone be grateful if he doesn't kill you. What pleasure do you get by this "heart breaking men" thing? You would still consider them as rivals even after transitioning? I'll say you have some screws loose. Understand that guys too are human.

You do not ever deserve to be a girl. You are an embarrassment to the whole MTF community. Please take your sick fantasies elsewhere, susans happens to be a website for mature people to discuss and learn. I personally wish that you, claire, will never get a letter from a therapist. From the way you are going, no worries there. Have a very nice day.

Back on topic, I will post later on. I just had to get the above of my chest. I do apologize.  :D

Lets tone things down a bit, everyone has the right to their fantasies.

There are plenty of genetic girls who like to tease.

Personal attacks are not appropriate.

Sorry about that sarah, but that was a carry over from a previous discussion. I'm not the type to post anything hurtful or judge someone.

While it's true that that there are cisgirls who like to tease, changing into one just for that excitement is pure evil. Sorry again >.< I'm a very open minded "cute" thinking girl. Everything is all pretty and butterflies for me. However, claire's posts over a time managed to infuriate me. I'll ignore her posts and keep it to myself. no worries. :)

If I was a teenage girl, I would be me, but a teenager  ;D

So what is that, I would be non-conformist, openly lesbian as I am now. I would do well at school like I did the first time. Maybe dux this time considering I would not be as depressed as I was. I would like to be into drama too, and a maths geek.

I'd be the girl that stands up for those around her. Would get involved in youth helplines and support groups. Probably would not play sport except maybe rockclimbing and mt bking. I'd be the girl that takes her girl 'friends' out camping in a tent, or for sleep overs....I see no need to protect my virginity. Sex is good, virginity is over rated.

I would not tease the guys, that is not cool. Being under sway of hormones at that age can be agony. It can make you do stupid things you might regret. Having been through that I have a real sympathy for them. They don't need any more agrivation poor guys. Also when you think about it, it really gives women a bad name. We want our men to respect us, not get frustrated by us and feel like all women just want to mess with them. It could poison their future relationships with women.  Instead I would hang out with the guys and sometimes be one of the boys "dude, check her out, sooo hot!!".

Excuse me? That's exactly what you did when you joined, calling people ugly and telling them not to transition.  :-\

I know plenty of Thai's, guys and girls, and visited the country twice, so please don't use 'lost in translation' excuse for rudeness.  Manners and etiquette is as important to Thai's as it is to most people in the world.

Well if I can be ANY kind I want, then I'd be the kind with super powers and lots of money.

Love it!  In real life, Paris Hilton comes pretty close to being that.  Her antics amused and entertained me to no end when she was really boogeying bigtime.  I thought, "You, GO, Girl!"  Rich, cute, young ... sigh ... dream on, dream on ... !    :D

Your avatar?  The actress (Billie Burke, I believe) who actually played that character in the Wizard of Oz in real life had quite the excellent life.  Love that avatar.

@ Nicky:

Girl, I way love your description.  Rock ... ON!  I could so relate to that kind of girl.

Well Im now a married woman at 52, but I started my transition when I was a teenager at 16, in them early days I was very much the ultimate girly girl which my Mam wanted at the time, wearing frills, bows and lots of pink, but sadly I never got to be a cheerleader, it was a time in my transition I really enjoyed, but time moves on, Im now an older woman, who likes fashion and all things feminine.

I chose: shy and sweet, kinda naive, a bookworm who likes being by herself.

That wouldn't completely define me though. For me it is not a fantasy, but rather something that is bound to happen in due time. Although I am 21 years old, I really haven't aged much since I hit 16. Neither physically nor in mind. Right now, I'm still recovering from being closed away in a shell. That alone will take a while, at least three more years I figure. However, when I do manage to transition I would still be myself, really. That is pretty much shy, sweet, sometimes playful, and often prefer to be myself with a book or a PC game. I'm kind of a freelance web developer so things would still be the same at home, except for being more honest with myself and my family. I'm not much into relationships because I already have something that can't be found in love. A platonic, unconditional love with my other half. That alone is my happiness, and so it is her's as well.

Being pretty enough to look at is somewhat important for me, but I'm not too worried there. However, my worry lies in my hair loss. My hair so thin that whenever I comb them, several of them end up breaking out from their roots. Well, something I have to let finasteride work on. One thing I would definitely do is continue my education in a brick-and-mortar college. I may have built a shell around me over a time, but once it is broken... I really wouldn't have anymore reason to be afraid of being around people. I would love to have some real-life friends. :D

Alternatively: From a fantasy perspective everything would be the same as all the above. If only I knew about the effects of HRT when I was ten years old. Then I'd still have all my beautiful hair and be worry free. How awful is this genetic hair loss? Yes, even mother is balding. ^^'

I actually was the naive bookworm, though a boy. But at heart I was a nonconformist, though. I think they can have more fun than anybody, really. While the cheerleader, the jockette and even the bookworm worry constantly about fitting into assumed social limits, the nonconformist is more free to wear what she wants, hang out with who she wants and do what she wants (not that any teenager really feels all that free). I'd be wearing a different wacky hairdo and outfit every day. I'd also constantly try to corrupt those in the other 3 categories (especially the bookworms).

Presenting male, I was nerdy and earnest and unsure and an underachiever.

Perhaps if I had been able to present female I would have been nerdy and earnest and confident and driven to excel. :)

Personally, I prefer the girls who're intelligent, capable of holding a serious conversation, and able to have fun doing geeky, childish, or interesting things.
I really have no patience for the flirtatious, skimpy-clothed, bubble-gum-girl. They bore me.

So yeah, to them book-worms...

Well sexy!

Why not just be yourself? :-) That's what I am being. And I love not being a teenager. Everyone wishes they could go back to being a teen again but the truth of the matter is that it's a very confusing and rough time even for the most cis-gendered, middle-classed, privileged kids. And be stuck in school again with hundreds of other moody kids? Nah, that period of my life is over and I'm happy to see it gone. Doesn't mean though that you can't play the naughty schoolgirl at the Halloween ball  >:-)

I have to fess-up to having a weak spot for the kinda teens Juliette Lewis played... :P

Natural Born Killers Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIeDJm04dqQ#)

And she kicks arse in her latest movie to....Whip It....

(So yep I defo would have been that type of girlie kiddo)

As an aside...

I got expelled from school right at the (very) end for growing ma hair too long and challenging the arcane system, answering back to the Deputy Head...so I ripped-off ma senior-prefect badge, undid the school tie rolled it and chucked it at the stage too... and then walked...

In front of the whole school assembly and just kept walking to the whistles, cackles and cheers....

(I done the exams so really had little to loose)....

But the bombastic red face of that head teacher was priceless.....

I selected "Shy and sweet, kinda naive, a bookworm who likes being by herself", but would like to a combination of that and "A nonconformist, alternative girl who takes pride in being different". However, with slight alterations. I wouldn't really choose to be naive (even though I am), and I'd rather take pride in being myself than being different. Being different is good, and I would take pride in it if I was, but not if I was only being different for the sake of being different. I'd rather be different where I want to be, and conformist where I want to be.
