So I picked up a new ID card yesterday.. and while it's just a University student ID.. I look at the name on it and mah photo and I see me finally.. not some card that I have to be embarrassed about and try to hide from people. Makes me happy. Great to have my info changed in the school system.. :)
Congrats!!!! That has to seriously feel rewarding!
:)
yeah it's great.. since i typically have to use it 2 or 3 times a day.., and it's great that my name is changed in the school systems.. so that people aren't like wtf.. who is this person on the roster/emailing me.. there is no (female named) person in my class.
@Tad
Did you get your name legally changed?
nope.. not yet. Waiting til I can legally change my gender.. which should be soon.
congrats man! before my name change / new pic, i was always very reserved about having to show my ID(the peoples reactions never helped), after I got my new ID, I show it to everyone. =] Its a good feeling, enjoy it =]
Nother small step. Got my library card in my male name this year.. instead of the old one.. slowly getting everything that doesn't require legal switched over.
Just so you know....where I am, I had no issues changing my gender marker before my name change was legal. Neither did my friend, and we both have non male birth names.
Here I have to get letters from a psych.. which should hopefully be in the next month or two.
I'm waiting to change legal name for when I can cahange my gender - to cut back on costs.
oh wait.. yeah.. you have to have already had your name changed... or be doing it at the same time to change your gender here..
Great that you've got your new uni ID mate! I got my deed poll a couple of months ago and so far have changed my name and gender marker with bank, doctor's surgery, basically everything without a photo on. I've just sent my driving license off to be changed, and hoping that will be OK - some people have told me you need a letter from your doctor as well, some say the DVLA will let you change everything with your deed poll alone... Fingers crossed!
Congratulations! I'm happy for you ^^
Congrats, Tad! ;D
I have a friend who managed to change his name (in my country, gender-contrary names (being named John and being legally female, for instance) are not allowed if you're under 18, which my friend is. However, his name sounded very similar to a name which would be considered gender-neutral, so he managed to slip past the radar for that one). He's really happy because of his new I.D with a new name and a new photo, but he's still sad because of the gender markers, K and F (Kvinna (woman) and Female). However, I told him to see it like this: K = Kille (guy), F = ->-bleeped-<-.
I dunno if any of you guys can think about it like that, but I thought it was a bit funny and wanted to share it.
Congratulations! That has to be a great feeling to be able to wear it with pride.
This reminds me how much I can't wait until I can change my license.
Congrats Tad! :)
