Zellers, the Canadian retail giant with nearly 300 stores spread throughout our northern neighbor, has been selling a T-shirt that includes the message, "Yo, let's get 'em. Let's drive-by egg these ->-bleeped-<-s." They were available in children's sizes, because the shirts were for children.
Oh, did I mention the shirts were manufactured by X Games Clothing, a subsidiary of ESPN Consumer Products, which is owned by the Walt Disney Co., harbingers of the ABC television network?
"Hey! I got an idea that would make us some money! Let's put a bunch of hateful words on a t-shirt, so much most parents won't read it, and sell them to kids!"
"Great idea boss! I'll get started on it!"
Media gets a hold of what they are doing and publishes it. Parents get upset. Press ties t-shirts to ESPN. BAD PUBLICITY - INCOME HURT
"What a stupid idea! Who ever thought that one up?"
"You did boss."
"I'd never do anything like that! We need to apologize for the dope who hurt those poor ->-bleeped-<-s! Send out a press release immediately!"
But for the kids who already have the t-shirts and for the message sent, the damage has already been done.
I wonder how much they made on those shirts? ???
