My personal style is between a hippy chic and a school teacher! lol I mostly wear long skirts (have more than 100 skirts) or long dresses.

What is ironic to me, is that I hardly ever see any women, here in Missouri, who dress like I do.

I'm not really sure what you would call my clothing style.  At home, I can be wandering around in a bikini, or it's tight jeans, or shorts, and a nice tee shirt   If I'm going out I always wear make-up,  and I generally wear a nice pair a dressy boot-cut low rise jeans or pants. It could also be an above the knee biase cut skirt with alot of movement to camoflage my stovepipe figure, and I usually add a cardigan with 3/4 lenght sleeves or a short jacket, but I often wear nice shirt dresses tiied back just above the waist.

You could probably say that my style is too younge for my age.   :)  But the important thing is that I feel good, and I don't look so bad either, which gives me confidence.  I've never had anyone run away screaming yet  :)  I supose that you could say that I haven't worked out a style yet (not that I'm aware of) as I'm still experimenting with what looks good and what doesn't.

My bigest problem fashion wise, along with a lot of other people is that I have no hips, so I avoid tops that hang straight down and wear those that flare slighly at the hips.  It gives the illusion that I actually have some.  :)

I like long or mid-length skirts. I'm too old to wear the short stuff. A lady has to act her age.
I love soft and silky materials and in different shades of pink. Style? I just like real feminine stuff.
A small amount of lace is great. I defiantly prefer dresses and skirts to blue jeans.
As a woman I want to dress like a woman not a man. (I have been wearing pant way to long already.)
Clothing is an important way in which I am able to express the real me.
And I want to show how feminine I really am.

Thanks Susan for unlocking this discussion. I think if more people would reply this could get real interesting.

I like the Gothic Lolita style, but sadly I only have one item of the sort, a Jrock Mana choker (black lace).

For me i prefer skirts that come to just below the knee  ( too old to wear the short ones ).  I do have some ankle length long skirts, that are great for cooler weather.
Always wear panty hose or stockings when wearing a skirt.

Depending on time of the year and where I am, do have some nice slacks that are dressy and they also go well

Until I got this job driving a school bus, I liked mid calf skirts and tops that kind of v at the neck w/ruffles around the collar. I liked heels 1 1/2 to 3 inches, but now it is mainly jeans and fem. t-shirt or long sleeve top. Also tennis shoes. I like to dress up but it is kind of hard when your in a school bus and trying to unhook a wheelchair. Actually, I pass better dressed this way than in a skirt. Go figure. I'm never looked at and I'm always called maam all the time and guys open doors for me all the time. Maybe it's the jeans??

I don't know if I would call it a style, but I prefer skirts and very feminine tops.  Knee length, but I do have one short flirty skirt I really love, and prefer pastel colors, expecially pink.  I'm still trying to understand what styles look good and which don't on me.

I spend alot of time studying GG to see how they dress and layer clothing.  So maybe this time next year I will have it figured out.

Whatever's on the clearance rack at the @#$%&-mart!  I get some remarkably hilarious looks when I'm workin' the racks - one teenage GG actually suggested that I "might be in the wrong section!"  I answered, "That's what YOU think!"

Actually, almost true, but I do look for the colors that are NOT available in the men's departments (which is just about all of them LOL!)  I particularly look for more androgenous styles that I might wear either en femme or en homme without causing too much of a rucus.  I have more skirts than slacks but that's because I have a very hard time finding nice slacks that fit acceptably well.  I do find that lycra/spandex is a friend!

Speaking of girl pants my mother and I usually harass each other regarding pant leg style... She likes bellbottoms, which I think are horrid, while I like peglegs(the type you to unzip to get past your foot), which she thinks are horrendous! We have a lot of fun (=

I am a bit of a tshirt and jeans girl but I do like hot little skirts. Kmart in Oz have a great new range for the smaller girls and I have the two sets in the middle, including the bag and shoes.

Dont know if I would have 25 pair of jeans though!

Developing a style has been tough for me. Thank God for my wife she keeps me from looking like a fool. Luckily we are close to the same size so I can wear her hand me downs.
We are in Hawaii for the winter so I've been wearing mostly strappy t shirts or a cami with shorts. At the beach I wear a bikini or a tankini. When we go to the pool I wear a Speedo one piece. I tried hip hugger jeans but they just didn't look good -to young.I think the strappy camisoles with the built in shelf bra look good on just about everyone.

I'm definitely into wide leg, baggy-butt jeans. Anything else looks either feminine or gay to me.

So sounds like you're on the right track Steph :)

Like yours my wife proved invaluable during my initial shopping spree's.  She kept my feet on the ground, and focused on what I should be looking for.  I can just imagine what I would have been coming home with if it weren't for her.

Now I'm OK, I've finally got "my" style down to the point where the new cloths I buy can be mixed and matched with my existing wardrobe.  I like short tapered jackets, fitted, tailored shirts and blouses, fitted tank tops, tailored pants and skirts, and as mentioned earlier, low rise ,flared jeans.

Isnt that funny cause I have been buying clothes for years and never had a problem knowing what would look good on me or what size I was, even today I see something and I know exactly what it will look like on. Dresses are a bit different than jeans but I dont really have a problem with those either. I tend to buy all of my partners clothes as well with her present of course but others have tried to buy for her even her own daughter and they get it all wrong.

Although I remember when I first started out which was about 25 years ago (16) I had some ridiculous outfits (bras that were too big or too small (I had no breasts then), shoes that were too pointy and dresses that my mother could wear), over time you tend to pick up on things and it all comes together.

I dont really have any mens clothes other than a shirt I really like that has pink stripes down it and I havent seen it on any men that I know.

i have just way too many denim skirts. there are so many different variations in color and details...i love them all. some go best with black shoes or boots and others need brown.  some hit just above the knee and some are midthigh. tights in different colors and textures keep the winter chill away. i think the next category of "way too many" is pleated skirts or kilts. i can't get enough.

Well, I usually mention at some point my style is punk/metal/goth/girlie.
I like long skirts if they're flowy. I like short skirts if they're black and pleated. both get worn with army boots because that look just rocks. I like lace because I contend you should always feel pretty, and you can't wear lacy underthings and not feel pretty, and when you feel pretty you radiate pretty. I am a blue jeans girl, with tshirts if it's a mild or cooler day, tanktops if it's hot out.

at home when I'm not looking to impress anyone, you'll find me in sweatpants because they're super-comfy. sometimes I'll take the bra off, but most times not because what if we order pizza, or what if something breaks and the delivery guy or repair guy is really cute? *blush*

Well I tend to prefer womens jeans and tops. For me thats feeling feminine. Thats all I have at the moment. I have panties and bras hosery. I'm not shure about dresses. Skirts I like both long and short for variaty. Surprisingly womens style jeans fit me well. I am a size 33 and working to get to a size 32 or 31.

I tend to go for the hippy chic look also.  If I am at home I like to wear my string bikini swimsuits and denim skirt around the house.  Othertimes, I usually wear tight fitting low rise jeans with bell bottoms and a t-shirt top.  These make me feel very feminine.  If its warm outside I will usually wear my denim capris or Daisy Duke denim shorts shorts and a tank top.  In jeans, I fit very well in a size 9.  Tops I wear either a size large or sometimes extra large depending how its design is cut and tailored.  If I go out to an event I will usually dress up wearing heels, stockings, short skirts and a sweater.  I have not figured out what dress size I really am yet.  Seems like there are so many varibles in dress sizes from one dress manufacturer to another.  The only real way to find the correct size would be to try them on at the store.

This is the hypothetical, but honestly what I could see myself wearing.

I tend to dress for comfort.  I honestly doubt I'd be that different in terms of what I wear.  Tshirts, jeans, shorts, khakis. Always a bit loose fitting.

Add in female elements?  Skirts.  Lots of skirts.  I love things like shorts, and the less fabric touching my legs the better.  So a longer skirt when it is colder out, and shorter in the warmer months.  I've done enough secret crossdressing to know I love how wearing skirts feels. For tops? Peasant girl blouses look divine - and if they are anything like the poets shirts they look like, I'm sure I'd like them.  Again, something I could really see myself wearing.

On the more formal side, things might get tougher.  But I'd love to wear Qi-Paos (Cheongsams) and Lehenga Cholis.  I adore how elegant and lovely those styles look.  But even western style gowns appeal to me.  Women's formal wear is soooooooooo much more diverse and comfortable looking than mens.  And actually leaves room for individuality!

Other things I like?  Corsets, as uncomfortable as they probably are?  They're a look I love.  I'm not sure about hip-hugger pants - as I've mentioned, I like more loose fitting clothing.  But I'd probably try them eventually.  They do look good!

Dress-suits look good enough for me for more business formal sort of wear.

That's about all I can think of for now.

Not too long ago I walked into my therapist's office wearing what is pretty typical for me when I'm wanting to look nice, but not excessively dressy: A sheer lined multi-colored calf-length skirt, black long-sleeved leotard turtleneck top, pointy-toed ankle boots with 2 1/2 inch heels, and a bunch of clunky jewelry. She took one look at me, and said, "You look like a lesbian artist from San Francisco."

I thought about it and said, "Well, that works!"

I really don't know what to call my style. Right now am wearing this black dress that clings to my body and the skirt goes 4 inches above my legs. Usually is womanly just above recognition. I have dresses that stop traffic and that is not allways the mood that am in, to be scrutinized. I know is all in my head. Some days just look like a boy and girls notice. I have boys shirts for interviews. and the rest is women everything: underwear, shoes, blouses from unisex kind of to outfits that a striper might wear to executive female suits, well the suits are out of style now. Money! MOney! that is what we girls realy need, money to buy sh--!
oh well, love sheila.

Gotta agree with Dennis... guys' clothing rocks! I have probably 10 items of women's clothing in my closet, and about 200 of guys' clothes; most of these are T-shirts, sweatshirts, and jeans, especially baggy jeans. I don't worry too much about looking gay, since I have a few nice button-down shirts that could pass for metrosexual, but I wear pretty much whatever's the most comfortable, as long as it isn't sweatsuits or anything. I have a few blazers, 2 leather jackets... I guess I'm trying to bring back the great James Dean, and I don't know what style that makes me, but I sure feel cool in it. I figure that's all that matters.

It really depends on the occasion. I feel much more comfortable dressed up in a long summer dress at a wedding for example. But on a beach that would be to much, so I'd wear a bikini and light cotton scarf over it, if it gets windy.

But my all time favourite when at home is wrap around cotton skirts & tshirts.

I am definitely a hippy chick so I wear hippy chic all the time! I love the dress sense of Janis Joplin!

For a top, I generally like anything form fitting. Winter is nice because I can wear tight long sleeve tops, but here in the southwest in summertime they're out of the question. I can't wear tank tops (rather not say why) so that leaves T shirts. I'll wear women's tees every chance I get.

I like the sleek flowing feel of a long skirt, and like to wear skirts of any type/length. Jeans are also good. Basically I'll put on whatever goes best with the top I'm wearing.

Jeans. Abercrombie. Holister. The more worn & torn looking the better. With a t-shirt or if I have to look a bit nicer than a button down shirt. Plus hiking boots. That is all.

Are you kidding? I get them at Their outlet stores. No way will I pay 70.00 or 80.00 for a pair of Abercrombie's or Holister. More like 29.99. Much better. You can always distress your jeans on your own if your carful ;) Although  I  have noticed that the less expensive brands are following suite and coming out with their distressed and torn up versions. All in the way of marketing.

I personnally like a classic pencil skirt with a knit top, with black hose and pumps; I like black because it is slimming, classic and can be matched with anything. As I venture out more I am more consciuos of what other women are wearing. I like the look of a pleated skirt, with a cardigan. I must also say, I do think capris are a fabulous idea, the pracicality of pants but with a bit of leg and ankle showing, and can be a casual look with a pair of sandals or  dressed up with a pair of heels. I do have a dilemma; I am going to Vancouver next week and hoping to go to a couple of clubs. I was thinking a short denim skirt might look ok. Any ideas what might look OK as a top? I don't want to look like I'm trying to be 21, but then again I don't want to look like I came from a business meeting? Any ideas?
Thanks, Jen

I usally wear clothes there are appropriate to a middle-aged woman, so I like mainly knee-length skirts and blouses, sometime I go out in "tailleur" (lady's suit? I am sorry, but I am not sure of the right word) but not so often.
I have some jeans, but these are also knee-length. I like soft clothes, but I do not like silk very much. I also like a little bit of lace, but just as decoration.
I like heels around 5 cm (~2 inches).
For colors, I like coloured and patterns fabrics during summer, black and brown during winter.
I like also very much the way I am in a pleated skirt and a twin set.

Kia:
actually you got  a good figure what I found for myself was that there were these subconscious clues in body language that I was not aware I was sending off.  Little by little I trainned my self to work and improve those area.

The shoulder balance is the bigest target.
Train your  end of  shoulders to be straight  or forming a v up .  Men form a V down(apex at the neck).
At home find the and of a wall and set your spine against the ridge , slowly wrap your shoulder baldes around the corner.  This will transform your signature (the silloute/profile that IDs a man from a woman).  Important to learn how it feels to be in those positions. so that youcan reproduce it instinctevely ...there is more  but if you are interested to try it  and if you do let me know how it goes the results should be clear for you in a month if you do this 2 times a day, remember easy does it, because you are retrainning the back muscles and readjusting how they balance each other htera some muscles that need to get stronger and need to stretch other tha tneed to shrinkster being stretched out.
You have a good butt and great legs.  Retrainning the balance of your hips should be assy

the secret to transformation is observation

fro now on when you see an atractive woman (atractive only) observe carefully how they move their hands and which joints they rest their movements from, some use elbows others hips.  the point is that you'll doscoveer that aside the breasts and the women with pear shape bodies wide hips in many women's bodies are not that different from guys.

For anything other casual, dresses are more of my thing, because I fail badly at coordination.

When casual, I'm pretty much game for anything that leaves me decent.  Unfortunately, lots of informal clothing tends to be less decent, and male and unisex clothing tends to be considerably diverse and still reasonably comfortable anyway.

I'm still figuring this out; don't mind me too much...

If I am going out shopping or am doing something with my friends then I will normally dress things up a little bit, nothing over the top, maybe a nice pair of jeans with a nice top as I like to look well dressed if I am out.  Knee high boots and tights are fab, especially this time of year when it's so cold.

If it's a night out then a tight vest top, short skirt, fishnets and knee high boots are the order of the day !!

For work I normally wear a skirt or trouser suit.  We don't actually have a dress code anymore, but call me old fashioned I know but I like to look I am actually going to work, not just on my way to buy a pint of milk from the corner shop.

For me, it has to be comfortable. At home, I simply wear a fleece plaid around tight around the waist, which is nice because it shows puts stress on both my hips and shoulders, and make my waist look really tiny as a result.
But in the real world: It's baggy t-shirts, cargo pants, hiking/mountain boots, sports socks, full zipper vests (sleeves ALLWAYS rolled up) and never boxers. (I often have to walk or cycle, sometimes even hours on end... Chafing really isn't pleasant, especially when the socks get stuck between the sadle and leg..)
Sports-boxers aren't an option, because, ironically, my upper legs are quite muscled. A sports-boxer that fits around those won't fit around my waist, and.. Well, you catch the drift.

So.. It's all baggy, for me. Might not be pretty, and I'd really like some pretty clothing, but... Well, clothing is expensive, and I have to take a pick: Either pretty, or comfortable. Either fragile or strong.

Allthough I do favour women's long sleeve t-shirts. They fit nicely around the shoulders, over the stomach and stress the... Let's call them 'chest muscles.'

I prefer long skirts almost ankle length that button up the front.  For a more demure look, fasten all the buttons but for a different look, undo it to just above the knee.  Lots of people seem to find that flash of leg sexy (including my SO).  For blouses, I adore satin but I also have a couple of crepe blouses with a styling reminiscent of the 60's.  As far as jeans go, I have several denim skirts but only one pair of jeans and one pair of denim leggings.

I've read some of the other posts and some of you mention dresses.  I thought one of the two commandments for TS's was "Thou shalt not wear dresses or makeup." (Why are there only two commandments for TS's?  Because after all that surgery, you're practically perfect!!!!!!

Not a flame, but just a comment.  I know some people believe these, but I think it's foolish.  By limiting yourself *because* you're TS prevents you from moving on.  If these are commandments, I break these quite often.  Why?  Because I like to wear what makes me feel comfortable.

I guess I'm a bit casual.  I like jeans and a top with heels or boots.  I do have a new skirt I'm enjoying, too.  But my biggest problem is that I have lost quite a bit of weight.  I have almos no butt left.  So I'm looking for something to augment that area or camoflauge it.

What is your favorite clothing styles. Do you perfer long skirts or short, do you like linen or lace. Are you a dress or a blue jeans type person. Talk about how your fashion choices make you, you.

long skirts, mid calf, tea length (thats a term you hear much now), not really dressy skirts, some demin, some peasant/hippy skirts

Most Of my tops are some some sort of pullover, a few sweaters, almost no "blouses"
Definatly not a blue jeans person. Some of my older canvas/demin long skirts or jumpers have become "work cloths". there are almost no pants or "male" clothes left.

Casual-classy-sexy. See the Newport News catalog. Virtually every page is me. And surprisingly, most if it looks good on me. Most of my wardrobe came from there. Yes, it's easily shipped/not always too high in quality/made who-knows-where. But they really capture my feminine persona amazingly well. I'm a total regular customer. They have a great return policy and they'll ship to PO boxes.

I'm generally a pretty casual girl... I like a denim skirt/t-shirt/sandal combo. I'm starting to fall in love with capris.
I love my jeans, I haven't started HRT but I always had somewhat girlish hips/butt for a guy, so they fit better than you may think.

Dresses and heels I save mainly for clubbing. (Also, I'm 6' tall, I don't need any more elevation!).

Summer's on it's way now....I'll break out my flip-flops, camisoles, and "hippie-chick" skirt soon!!  :D

Casual and somewhat 'utilitarian'.

I once remarked to my brother that he would likely never see me in high heels, to which he responded,

"You're a casual kind of girl. That doesn't surprise me."

That was the same night that I 'came out' to him and after he thought about what I told him for a brief moment said to me with a big smile upon his face,

"I've always wanted to have a big sister!"

After which I just lost it and he held me as I cried.

I will never forget that night.

But I digress; I cannot really wear high heels anyway, thanx to 'battle damage' from a bad motorcycle accident back in 1985.

A skirt may be possible but only with calf length boots, for the same reason [fasciotomy scar, left lower leg].

I have a preference for wearing skin-tight feminine cut compression tops and women's jeans.

But these current preferences may well expand in scope, in the days to come and with greater realization of the true feminine.

In general I'm pretty casual.  Usually jeans and a cute top, with some flipflops.  I love a cute hoodie more than maybe anything.  I got a very cute soundgirl one the other week with three quarter length sleeves and it looks great on me.

I am very trendy at times though.  I actually love the whole 80's thing that was going on last year.  I like wearing leggings with a mini skirt, and some flats at times.

I guess my style is kind of indie chic.

Oh.  Since we are talking about fashion and everything, I might as well plug my awesome friend's clothing line.

Skirt or dress just below the knees for me. My girlfriend says i have good legs and could get away with a short skirt, but i guess its what you feel comfortable in. Likewise i will always wear tights or stockings, never bare legs, except maybe in the house. But when we go out together, its never bare legs. I also favour a crisp white or coloured blouse with long sleeves, teamed up with a black straight skirt and black court shoes, its a classic outfit, that i always feel good in.

I suppose my fashion depends on two things. What part of the year it is and what mood I'm in. Generally I prefer the youthful look. The twenty-something late eighties and early ninties clothes. Since I've been out more in public I've taken up a fancy for dresses and outfits that aren't real flashy yet are still sexy and comfortable. Blending in is always good. Dressing smart is good as well.

Additionally I have a thing for gothic styles so I'm really all over the place. The way I see it, there's things that accent my body in a feminine way moreso than others. Knowing what looks good on you is a step in the right direction. There's loads of fashion no no's but that's best saved for another thread in itself.

Well, it's weird, but when I lived as a guy, I liked T-shirts and jeans or jean shorts most of the time, and if it was cold, I liked jeans with lots of leather, and Red Wing boots. I also had a nice collection of Hawaiian shirts. Now I wear everything, sweaters, skirts, of all lengths and materials, shear or warming tops, shorts, T-shirts. I don't wear high heels much anymore, they aren't as comfy as they used to feel. It's a bitch, but I dont have as much clothing money now as I did as a guy.And I don't look good in most dresses any more, because of the weight I have gained. Grrrrrrrrr!

I tend to wear mostly black trousers or jeans, not usually anything baggy except for slightly loose cargo pants or the occasional baggy jean. On top  tend to wear tight fitting tshirts and hoodies, sometimes a vest or cardie.

If I go out, I like to be a little more risque and have been know to wear a bandana as a top, denim skirts, basques, body suits/stockingsor even cat suits.

I dont currently have much of a wardrobe, but what I've got I love. My fav jeans are Levis that hug my behind and legs all teh way down and my fav top is the one I wear to go to bed lol.

If I had the choice, I'd probably wear tight blue jeans and tshirts day in and out :P

Kara, I don't see why you would have to dress
as a 40 year old dress (I'm 40 BTW :-).

First of all, many 40 year
old are overweight, have taken to much sun (damaged skin)
and have children; unless your like that, why imitate
their style? Style depends more on what you
can pull off. If your face looks young, your tall
and your in good shape, you can pull off a lot
wider kinds of style than if your dumpy and frumpy.

My "normal" outfit usually consists of a pair of low rise flare jeans, solid color or screenprint capsleeve T-shirt, and almost always something over that.  Now that its cold I'm a bit fan of knitted coats or sweaters.  I try to avoid hoodies and sweatpants.

Shoe wise I wear boots with a 1-2.5" heel, or my pink Harajuku Lover's canvas shoes.

When my hair was a bit shorter I always wore a headband that matched the outfit I was wearing. But now I don't wear headbands that much anymore.

My style is well...mostly what I can afford. Had I more money I'd be in skirts and tops more often! But a lot of tops I find don't appeal to me (good will), and the others I can't afford (too costly...sometimes too outlandish for me).

If I could afford it...and had friends to have fun with doing so, I'd dress in amaloli every day (amaloli is part of lolita fashion and is especially childish looking). I like pastels, white, blue, pink, pretty much all shades of them. I'm not typically after brand names, anything cute works. I got some Hello Kitty socks (6 pairs), maybe 10 pairs of pants and 7 skirts, mostly knee-length ones.

I actually had to buy panties in the girl's section at a store cause the adult small is still way too big (measured by hips), while the girl's ones fit by waist. I got two bras from there too...but don't particularly like them, they were cheap though.

I tend to wear sneakers most of the time, because I haven't found 'pretty shoes' that I like, yet. I will probably never wear high heels, mostly for practical reasons (I consider it torture). I don't mind platform shoes though.

Given the clothes I have and my budget, I tend to wear mostly trousers, sometimes skirts (but not in winter), t-shirts and a vest or two. They're typically tight and hip-huggers with flaring bottoms, if I managed to find one that fit good enough.

I use make-up when I feel like it. I don't do eyes makeup, I think it makes me look weird. I use foundation, blusher and mascara (arguably eye makeup but not showing as much) which gives a rather natural-looking make-up. Sometimes I forego it entirely. I don't 'need' make-up, I just like the effect.

Baggy t-shirts (at the moment), hoodies, tights/ fishnets combined with shorts mostly.
High heels if the weather's good. Trainers if it's bad. Fluffy, soft things. UV bracelets.
That's about it. I focus on my hair more. Meh.

I'm mainly into baggy t-shirt and jeans fashion. Me and my mom went shopping and I wanted a pair of jeans that were faded blue and were light blue colored but they were girls jeans and I had a feeling they would be the skin hugger (that's what I call them) kind and sure enough they only made my femenine physique show.....so I don't plan on wearing them that often but on my days when I don't want to dress myself up and try going out in public as male I'll wear them just to throw something on. When I try to look male I wear gothic fashion. Black t-shirt and jeans and eye shadow and silver rings and maybe some clip on silver earrings. I'm happy that I'm now able to dress gothic because before my parents weren't to keen on that idea.

I pretty much wear the same clothes every day. As a traveler I don't get the opportunity to change very often, but I don't mind. Most days I'm in a black band t shirt, black pants with patches sewn on, and my steel toed sneakers. I used to be a punk, then a skingirl (NOT a racist, a traditional skinhead), and now I'm pretty much anti fashion. I guess my closest label would be "crustie".

I still like to rock the soccer shirts and rolled up jeans occasionally, though.  ;)

Depending on my mood or what I'm doing I'll either go for shorts if it's hot, jeans if I feel like it, and any shirt I happen to find laying around. If I'm going on a date or something then obviously I'm going to dress up, I have a few mid length dresses and I'll take the strappy heel approach. Ya know what I'm talking about ;) I'd say I'm not a fashion hog however I try to stay at least one or two steps behind the bar of good fashion. Close enough I'm still fashionable, but far enough away I'm not spending 1000 dollars on a purse or jacket.

If I'm working then it depends on the situation. Some clubs ask for a rather specific dress code for the DJ's, more for my protection I suppose (gangs and all that) so they don't want certain types of shirts stuff like that. I've found myself to wearing one of my dark light t-shirts more often then not and a pair of shorts. Usually the dark light shirt says something funny like 'If you can read this stop looking at my boobs' or 'DJ on a roll' or something like that. As for shoes...the most comfortable ones I can find. I sometimes wear sandals and will slip into some comfy night slippers with gell inserts...oh god they feel like heaven.

I have a friend who wears a shirt when she is doing the DJ deal that says:

Pretend that I'm not here
that's what I'm doing

always loved that one

Tank tops or tees and hip hugger jeans.  Flats mostly, a height thing 5'10", but sometimes a low heel.

If going out or downtown ( thats where my therapist is ) Skirt and a nice top, w/ heels of course.

Well I'm an 18 year old guy, so my style is prob. different than most on here. But I wear nothing but American Eagle, Hollister, and Abercrombie. I guess you could say I'm a preppy guy... haha I don't mind though. I'm also very into plaid shorts. Button up shirts. Dark, sandblasted, or bleached jeans. And of course jeans with holes in them. I'm just what you would call your everyday pretty boy.

Grr if I had the money and the body, I would SO dress like the mannequins in Charlotte Russe and Forever 21.

Right now my style is kinda plain and simple. It compliments what figure I have right now but it is boring. I want to spice it up with hats and layers and accessories and hair styles. I wanna look as cute and spunky as I feel

edit: for example, these outfits i put together:

Wow Gracie that bottom outfit ROCKS where did you find that at?
I mainly wear nice jeans and basic tops layered when it not to hot. Mainly because of money and well around here that's what 90% of the girls are wearing. You rarely see a female in a dress in my small town unless they are over 60 or are headed to/from church on Sunday. I am a very small girl  and mainly shop in the juniors Dept so I dress a bit young for my age i guess but it seems to suit me or so I am told. Right now my favorite online store is. http://www.modaxpressonline.com/ (http://www.modaxpressonline.com/) they have some really nice clothes at good prices and are always adding new stuff. I just ordered this outfit the other day so I would have something a bit nicer than jeans to wear to see my therapist.

I'd consider my style to be classy, dressy, risk-taking, and whimsical.  I'm hardly a skirt or dress kind of gal, but when I dress to kill I'm always in a subdued pair of slacks, a brightly adorned cami or blouse with a fitted / cropped jacket and of course a pair of skyscraper heels.  Alright, so I'm only going to class early in the morning when everyone else is still in their pajamas, but that's what I'm known for! ;)

Aside from my more dressy looks, I also have a lot of playful and fun pieces as well.  I have this really pretty sheer white "peasant" style dress that's perfect for summer and this pink ruffled tank top that got a lot of looks at school.  :o

When I do wear a skirt, it's the statement piece, and while I do have one mini skirt, I have not worn it yet, and may never wear it, for I just can't imagine myself showing off so much leg anywhere!

I dress kid of more modest for my age and don't wear the out fits most of the girls wear. I'm very shy and feel nervous exposing too much skin. My favorite dresses are the sundresses preferably down to my knees or mid calf. and enjoy womans heels especially the stappy kind that go up your shins. As for lingerie I wear bikini cut and stockings with a garter occaisonally wear a bra but I usually don't because I don't have breasts but when I do I enjoy it.^_^

I am most definitely a short skirt and lace kind of girl. By short, I mean a few inches above the knee although I have been known to show off my legs in a really short mini. I love soft, flowy blouses and tops. When I'm feeling bold, camisoles are my choice. Dresses are a favorite choice especially shirt dresses.

I do have a thing for pantyhose and thigh high stockings.

You and Picapica.

I think if I was going a bit 'historical' I would be inclined towards oscarwilde type fopishness. But at the same time I am not sure I would feel comfortable in that sort of stuff. Perhaps I am more of a gothic lolita kind of androgyne.

My look is somewhere a cross between biker chick and flygirl: boots, jeans, and either a tanktop, tshirt, or hoodie, depending on the weather. I work in community healthcare, so throwing a blazer over a tanktop works well for the office. I also love ballcaps and usually keep my camo cap around for those bad hair day emergencies. LOL

Of course, the advantage of wearing jeans every day is that, unless I have a date, I NEVER need to shave my legs! *laughs*

I love feeling feminine but conservative.  I love every kind of dress and try on everyone I can regardless of how I look it.  When I go out, though, I have a gray pin-striped sleeveless low cut dress that I wear a blouse under, or a slimming black skirt with a various long sleeve tops.  I especially like a mid-length black skirt and a long cream colored sweater that I can wear a turtle neck under.  Finally, I found a cream colored pleated skirt with a matching lace top.  I would wear a mini-skirt but I heard some girls at my office say "if you wore it then (for me a long time ago), you should not wear it now.

I would like to have some place to go where I would need a formal dress.  I like getting dressed up, feeling very feminine and looking fashionable.

Also, I would love to go someplace that would accept me in a bathing suit.  One time I went to the beach (not dressed) and had the chance to dress later that night.  My straps were killing my sunburn or constantly making my skin itch.  I kept thinking I wish I would have had straps at the beach.

I like walking in high heels, have some pumps and one pair of flats.

Around the house, I would still wear skirts with a T.  I do not have any shorts or jeans.

I love short skirts, usually knee or just above the knee, and when I feel playful I just pull them up a bit higher. Must be a flippy style or A line, no huggy or clingy ones.

I like peasant shirts and snug tank tops...

And I really dig halter dresses or almost any sleeveless dress, but it has too be stretchy and or soft material. No stiff, scratchy stuff for me.

I also love stretchy black slacks with a soft sweater.

I do probably dress younger than my age, but so what? Im really a guy in a dress, so I guess I could do alot worse ;)

I'm more of a TG than a CD so I wear what is in style to blend in.
For formal, I wear a light grey or ivory Evan Picone Classic pant suit or a classic black dress that goes w/ pearl necklace. I have ugly legs so longer the better.

I'm too old for GOTH but I love it's fashion from 1850's to today's LoliGoth.

Because of my age, I'm changing my style to androgynous lesbian hair, glasses (don't need it) and clothes. I love my fem jewelery but they are too fem, sob.

At home I wear the usual TV stuff that feels good to my skin.

Oh yeah Victorian Gothic clothing is very expensive I'm always :o when I see the prices, but sometimes I come across a cheap skirt or top (when I don't have money). I would only wear Victorian Gothic clothing in my band.

I'd never suggest Hot Topic, I only ever went in there once and from what I've heard their products are made quite cheaply and don't last long. (I only bought a band t-shirt in there (The Cure)).

Right now usually wear tight stretchy jeans, black suede kneehighs, midlength white faux fur coat.  I have a tight zippered stretchy black top that has long cuffs and the corners curl out looking like kitty ears! ^..^

crazy about scarves
tank tops, tshirts
short skirts with mesh stockings of all kinds and patterns
striped knee high socks
I have red black plaid high cut nikes that I wear in summer
also have laced black platform knee highs that I don't wear cuz I never go out to party any more!!  boo hoo
I have a black hat that I wear - I can't say what the style is - one guy said I looked like a gay amish prostitute (oh well, better than not getting noticed at all hehe)

I get my clothes at second hand shops - when I go to the stores I can actually afford to shop in, the clothes don't impress me at all in style or quality.  The stuff I find in used shops is fricking amazing.

last year I got an Argentinian leather women's jacket that has the two button wide band along the bottom - when I snap it, it fits tight around my hips ($10)

mine's similar to this (but no patterns in the leather)

I've only just recently become interested in fashion. Lately, I've been sort of a mix between punk and goth. But if I could just go out and get whatever I wanted (i'm broke. lol) without having to worry about money, I'd have a wide variety in my closet. Lol. I'd have like, goth, punk, surfer, lots of camoflauge(which i have loads now. even my shoes!), and western. of course, my insecurity brings me to have a jacket or sweater on, despite the temperature.

So, my fashion could be more acurately be described as black hoodie and black pants. Lol

I prefer long pencil style dresses although woman my age are more into jeans, sneakers or flip-flops and layered shirts. Therefore, my normal everyday style is jeans, semi tight shirts and sandals. For weekends I toss the jeans for mid or long dresses.

Expensive, detailed, shimmery type clothing

Doesn't matter what it is, but has to look nice and sexy.

A combination of formal looking gothish, punk, and obnoxiously colorful.  Right now there's not enough of the first two and way too much boring crap (Why do people have to give out free t-shirts?  Why do I have to take them?)

I favor skirts, camisoles, blouses, low heels, flats, sneakers, sweaters, and dresses. I like hats too though I don't own any as yet. I would love to be a bridesmaid at a wedding.

Hell yes.  Except I think I'd take it in the given color, or maybe a darker red, yes.  There's something else: I love old-fashioned men's clothes.  I'm talking 1700s, though many other eras have good fashion.

I didn't read all the posts, since there are too many, but I read some.

I've never been much of a dress girl.  Tight jeans, tanks, boots, long hair, "Egyptian makeup" (not my term. A friend coined it because of how I do my eyes), metal belts.  I should probably just buy a Harley.  It's a rare thing for me to wear a dress.

I've found my taste in women's clothes to be a bit cheaper than men's clothes, which is convenient.

flip flops or ballet flats - since im a bit tall and skinny, i dont wear much of a high heels when i got out. but it still depends on the occasion.

It's the half yearly sales here and I've got the week off. Yea  . My credit card is looking a bit bashful 'cos she remebers last years sales >:-)

I've never been big on patterned tights, (panti-hose), but I saw a nice pair today and bought them. Adelaide is a bit cold now so they are rather comfy. At the moment I'm liking above the knee skirts and boots. LOVE boots and shoes and handbags and almost everyting else. I'm "afraid" , it's going to be one of those weeks.

I'll report back to shopping central on my efforts

I love suits, but I don't have one as I don't have the money for it... I also love tank tops, singlets and darker jeans. I'm probably a bit scene/emo influenced, but I really like bright colours anyway. Black fits with any bright colour ^^ I almost always wear shirts with a blouse over it.

Ties are also neat!

Short (just above knee length) skirts, sexy (preferably elvish looking) boots, tank tops or something that looks exciting and original.  Also I enjoy the punk rocker look.

However I own none of that, and only own 1 pair of shoes, 3 tops (t-shirts) and a pair of jeans.  Ah well eventually I will expand.

I agree. Developing styles are hard. Some days I'll dress all sporty and the next day, I'll be in all black. o_O

My taste in what I want to wear doesn't suit what I can wear, at the moment.

My taste is for above the knee skirts, more feminine cuts and "fluffy" lacey "girly" stuff - along with relatively short (above the knee) shorts, tanks and camis and so forth. Things that are generally considered to be for younger (say less than 30-35 years old) girls. I don't care to "dress my age"

but then, I have a lot to compensate for. I suspect when I've lost the fat and have breasts (assuming such a day comes) and have a more feminie overall presentation then some of that might change.

but I'm pretty sure I'll always prefer skirts to jeans and lacy things to t-shirts.

I'm classy and conservative. Business dresses and suits (with skirts) and I love little black dresses.

And heels of course!

I'm a total bohemian- long skirts, wrap-arounds, big shawls, peasant blouses, strappy sandals, lots of necklaces and bangles and long dangly earrings. I would never wear any skirt outside the house more than 2 inches above the knee, but I like blue-jean cutoffs when it's really hot and if I must wear pants at all then hip-hugging, wide bell-bottom jeans. I love anything with lots of lace and embroidery. I'm just a hippie at heart (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cosgan.de%2Fimages%2Fsmilie%2Fliebe%2Fs055.gif&hash=6bef4a69f07a7d876427ba28a7a93736f10da343)

This is fun, I haven't posted on Susans in years.

OK, lets talk fashion seriously. I love clothes, all kinds and it depends on the occasion of course. If I have to pick one look where I feel the most feminine and attractive....

First, a foundation of shaved legs with moisturizer all over and a nice comfortable thong. A slinky little silk slip dress and strappy sandals. I go braless by pinning some foam breast enhancers into the bodice of the dress. The feeling is like being naked and vulnerable.  The shoes make it impossible to run away;-)

Like so many others, its skirts and dresses.  However, nothing shorter than an inch or two above the knee.  Most of my skirts and dresses are mid calf to ankle length.  The ankle length looks great with boots.  As for stockings, nothing but thigh highs; shoes are all heels.  During the summer months there is nothing better than a colorful sundress.

I love the feel of satin. The first dress I tried at 4 years old was red satin and I have been hooked since. Mostly my attire depends on the activity I'm planning. A minskirt and heels don't go good while gardening. My best asset may be my legs so showing off is great for my female ego. I am very vain.

My clothing style is pretty grab-bag.

Lately I've been really into button-up, collared shirts. I only have a few, but I'm hoping to accquire more, since Christmas is coming up. I also wear a lot of turtlenecks with t-shirts of cardigan sweaters over them, though (the more colorful, the better). And fleece sweaters-- but those are more "brrr, I have a 10-minute walk outdoors to get to class" than "whoa, this looks snazzy on me". x3

As for my legs... typically, I wear black or khaki slacks or cargo pants. (I'm especially fond of cargo pants, because of all the pockets. handy for shoving all my pens and pencils and mp3 player in, plus they just look cool. I'm slightly enamored with pockets.) I wear gypsy skirts sometimes, too, though. Really brightly colored ones!

Also, I almost always have something around my neck. Scarves, neckties, bandanas, necklaces... just about anything.

I'm incredibly fond of brilliant colors. Purples and teals, especially-- and sunsetty colors (and rainbows-- I have a rainbow scarf that I wear almost perpetually). But I also really like earthy tones. Blues, greens, and browns are fantastic.

OH. And usually just plain white tennis shoes or, in the summer, run-of-the-mill sandals. Except when I'm doing something where I'm supposed to be professional (such as education field experience-- aparently teachers aren't supposed to wear tennis shoes), in which case I wear a nice pair of very plain, comfy, delightfully androgynous loafers.

For around the house I wear what ever is conformable. Usually pajama pants and a hoodie.

I like the stuff in llbean & lands end. I can't afford to spend that much, so i have to make due on a target old navy budget.

Come to think of if i end up getting a lot of items from old navy when it goes on clearance. I work in IT so cargo pants and jeans are the norm. As long as I have a nice shirt or sweater nobody cares about IT people unless their computer is broken.

Classy business suites, when out for an evening, not too office, but well fit and very Anne Klien'ish

My passion stems from the fashion of the '50s clean cut, tight waist, well fit.

Daily attire may be just a pair of embroidered jeans, heels (boots mostly) light turtleneck sweater, just the right amount of accessories, and nothing gaudy.

being 58, it's impossible to think I could wear any of the "hottest" young styles "you aren't 20 anymore..." seems so damn depressing  :'(  but I also stay away from the granny retired tourist crap.

But I can also sport black Ts, dark button ups, dark polos, gothic ->-bleeped-<-, fishnet on my arms, black pants, torn up t's....I can morph in a split second.

I love beanies. The kind with the brim on it. And caps without the opening on the back. And hoodies. I can never have enough jeans. Some ripped, some not. I perform as a trans king...so I love my jeans.

For me, if it's baggy enough to double up as pyjamas if need be (I sleep on a lot of floors  :P), that'll do it for me. That generally means: cargo trousers with pockets large enough to fit several kilograms of stuff in; baggy t-shirts, the crazier the design the better (I'm actually wearing my favourite t-shirt right now, it's bright yellow with some dancing six-limbed monkey-parrot diagram on the front); and I NEVER leave the house without a hoody tied around my waist. I don't even wear the hoody that much, but having it means I can offer it to cold people or use it as a pillow or blanket. Whenever I go out without it, I wind up needing it. I tend to wear my favourite clothes to death so I've got a lot of ripped/very amateurly stitched-back-together stuff too. I think some people assume that's fashion or something, but it's really not. Fashion! Bah humbug, who needs it  8)

My usually style is skinny jeans, and my shoes are similar to converse, but I forget the brand. I also have no tie laces on my shoe, so I never have to tie them and they look cute (I think so anyways  :)). A t-shirt, then a zip-up hoodie that hugs my curves  :P. I don't have any jewelry atm but I'd really love to get a nice necklace.

I've only started transitioning a few months ago, so I don't have many summer cloths. I get cold easily so when it gets warmer, I plan on getting some skirts, and maybe shorts. I'm tempted to get short skirts/short shorts, I think they look nice, but I'm not sure if I want that much attention . I also want to get some stiletto heels, but at 5'11" I might look like a giant .

We are heading into winter here, so when I am on leave next 2 weeks I will be off to Melbourne, to visit the op-shops in some of the more exclusive suburbs. I figure I should be able to get some of the things I can't afford otherwise.

Hopefully I can pick up some Alannah Hill skirts or similar, and definitely on the look out for a 3/4 length jacket. Boots, stretch jeans and lightly frilled blouses are also on my list.

Colours? Black and white suit me best I think.  If it all works out I will try and post some pic's.

My style tends to vary on my mood.  I can wear denim and a shirt, or I can wear an elegant dress.  I do love leggings and skirts.  I am not very into ruffly tops or bottoms.  I like to look fashionable, professional, and sophisticated while not being to flamboyant or slutty.  Comfort in clothing is important to me, so is usability; if I can only use an piece of clothing once, I tend to think twice before purchasing it.  However, if it is something I know that is me and my style I will not hesitate to get it.

I love layers. I've never dressed as a girl in public but even as a guy I most often wear an open button-up shirt with a t-->-bleeped-<- or tank top under it. Sometimes I'll throw on suspenders just for another layer.

I also love hats, Akubras especially. I've got 2. As well as a fedora and a beret.

And I absolutely adore anything Purple!

I tend to just wear t-shirts and jeans (trousers) at the moment though I have just bought a shirt, proper dress trousers, a couple of waistcoats and a tie or three, so I'm hoping to get dressed up more soon. I just need the places to go to wear them!

For everyday around the house I tend to be a blue jeans girl... But I also like to dress for the occasion

Sometimes I like skirts but most often I like dresses... It depends on where I'm going and what's going on

Because I'm tall I tend to not go much over an inch with the heels and prefer wedges

There are days I'll change outfits three or four times...LOL

Oh, and I have a thing for hats as well

It's getting a lil warm these days, so I've been wearing more dresses. Sundresses and rockabilly dresses with peeptoe heels. For more casual wear, capris or a comfy skirt with a babydoll band shirt and maryjanes.

For club or concert nights, I go more all out. Corsets, goth/industrial dresses and skirts, stompy boots, gasmasks, etc.

Gasmask? LOL... I was into the "Goth" scene in younger days but we called ourselves "Death Rockers"

After it became trendy I got bored with it... But I do so get a kick out of all the lil' gothlings running about

I usually dress casual; polo shirt and smart trousers for work, but otherwise I usually wear a plaid shirt with a t-shirt underneath, and a pair of regular-fit jeans. Can't do skinny-fit anything. I want to buy some smarter clothes; a suit, dress shirts, ties... but I never go anywhere that I would need to dress that smart.  I like hats too. I have a trilby, and I pass totally when I'm wearing that.  ;D

For everyday wear I'm a jeans and nice top and jacket/hoody kind of girl. If I'm going out, (which I haven't done yet..) it would depend on what kind of event it was.. But a LBD in slightly over mid-calf length is an essential.. Summer's coming here so it's time for nice girly sun dresses.. :)

I wear hoodies, t-shirts and military-type pants, such as cargo pants. My shirts and stuff are usually black, and the pants are military green, khaki, grey or something like that. I like it. Comfy and looks nice. Pair that with a pair of big black stompalicious boots and that's me.

I have a strong affinity for plaid, and stripes.
Majority of my wardrobe is black. (White. And. Gray)
I own a few 'lolita' (*lolitafashion) dresses, but prefer to dress more boyish.
(Baggy pants, t-shirts over long sleeves etc.)
Dresses can look nice... they're pretty articles of clothing. *shrug*

I can't stand blue jeans.

I'm partial to alternative styles. i.e. punk, goth, scene, ...etc. I used to dress very punk but I stopped shortly after hot topics started popping up all over the place.  ::)
The way that I dress now has been described by friends as "hipster". I think it's kinda funny because I'm usually very irritated by hipster types. But hey, as long as I'm not trying to dress that way I guess I don't really care that much. It's really not possible to escape labels and as long as I'm being tagged it's best to not have it be out of attempted rebellion against style since it then just becomes embarrassingly ironic. It's a snake eating its own tail.

I'm not out as trans, so people mostly just think I'm a strange crossdressing gay boy, but I really could care less right now! :) That's what I have to live with and I'm comfortable portraying myself this way at the moment so I think that matters!  ;D I think I'm a very "avant garde" type of person.

I do not know.... I like to overdress? Haha
If I could I would wear lacy and frilly things, but I think ultimately my appearance combined with such clothes would be more appaling than appealing.  It is so lame that men can not wear good clothes and women can... I go to the department store, see all kinds of cute and awesome girl outfits, with all kinds of cool shapes and designs. Then I turn around to the mens section.  200 pairs of the same jeans, and 100000 T-shirts with a different graphic on them...

BORING.

For a general style: Anything really feminine like Hollister or Abercrombie.
More specifically though, I like to wear shirts and just regular women's jeans (tight at the waist and thighs, and a bit loose at the legs and feet) Sometimes I like wearing dresses and skirts, and it being the summer, bikinis.
It's just a wide range. I guess it would be easier to just say nothing professional or remotely manly lol

well my wardrobe's typically on the sexy and shorter side of things, since staying in miami means you dress light to keep yourself comfortable in the hot climate, and it helps when you like to dress sexy. i guess this makes me a beach girl!

im usually in tube tops and halters (have lots of them in different colours and styles) with shorts or miniskirts outside school, and tank tops or t-shirts and jeans when i go for class. i love sundresses too, especially when i go to the beach and not planning on tanning or swimming. at home, i tend to roam around in just my bra or a bikini top and boyshorts, like my sis too. in my own privacy inside my room, i'm pretty much topless most of the time :D though i do keep my panties on all the time since it feels a little uncomfortable with my male bits dangling arnd as i move abt inside my room. and yes, it's a little troublesome because i tend to dash for my bra or something to cover my modesty whenever someone knocks on my room door  :P

i like frilly and lacy stuff! my lingerie are mostly on the frilly and lacy side. i also have a few chainmail lingerie sets i wear sometimes whenever my boyfriend comes to stay over for the night, just so to tease him.

Leggings, treggings and jeggings , nice with a tight over the bum top but a denim skirt over leggings or tights works as does a tunic  to balance out the shoulders, also high waisted shorts over tights or leggings works well, is very feminine and comfy.

For about 12 years I have been dressing goth.
Before I came out as androgyn, I dresses japanese lolita fashion, hoping that it would make me feel like a girl.

But now that I am open to my true self I still have to build up a new wardrobe. And my new style will be gothic dandy / aristocrat: long pants, blouses, jabots, waistcoats, top hats... Mostly in black, deep blue and dark red.

And I have a weak spot for platform boots. My current highest are 18cm tall, but I am also eyeing on a new pair which is 20cm.  ;D

I know this may be a bad idea but I wanna go back to my teenage years, and that goes for my clothing style as well. Finding unisex long-sleeved shirts seems to be impossible here, and due my workplace and not coming out, not to mention I feel comfortable in the ones I had before (moved backed from another country and forgot most of my stuff there). Anyhow as things are now my only option is the interwebs. However I'm having a pretty hard time finding the one I'd want. I'm talking about simple button-up ones and I will def roll up the sleeves.

Now the thing is that mens shirts are pretty baggy (which is a good thing) but also makes you look bigger, compared to womens which makes you look slim but also shows the obvious which is a big no-no atm. I can only think of unisex ones or those that are well fitted but still loose enough that doesn't make you go square or hourglass.

So any suggestion on brand, shop etc? I'm just gonna pair it with dark colored jeans.

So cute. (http://www.modcloth.com/shop/twopiece-swimwear/tropics-of-conversation-playsuit) I wish I had the hips for this (and were still of an age where it would be cute on me).

This is probably more wearable, I think... I tried some of my retro dresses on today, and I'm actually at a point now where some of them might fit, though I'd hope for improvements once I manage to get well into HRT. From the same vendor:

(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fproductshots2.modcloth.com%2Fproductshots%2F0124%2F4579%2F6997e1e3ec380bd0fc360528d130891b.jpg%3F1358806901&hash=bcddab4fac3979ec90bf7a8745e6a328248ac530)

I just wish I could find this (http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/author-outings-dress) in a local store where I could actually try it on before ordering it.

There is nothing real fancy about my style of dress. I love boots.
Oh and shades of pink, purple and red. I've found that shades of brown also seem to look good on me.
What you need to do is be aware of what other women your age are wearing that is if you want to fit in.
I dress for me and no one else.

I quite like tunic tops with long sleeves like in the pic as they make my arms appear thinner, in a big fan of skater style dresses with a tie front shrug and wide belt. and dark coulored jeans or Knit tights.

Thrift or resale shops aregreat places to get good clothing cheap.
Goodwill, Salvation Army and lots of independent shops around here.
Must of my clothing came from thrift store shopping.
They don't care if you are dressed as the opposite gender of the clothing you are buying.
Hope this will help thouse on a tight budget like myself.
Hugs,

I like how I look in it. I notice how no one gives me feedback on it in the other threads. And I'm beginning to think it's because other women here see it as being too close to masculine, I look bad in it and people are being polite, or they are shocked by my "frak what the world thinks, its my life" attitude. :P

Or could it be I am just that awesome?

Awesome. yep I can see that. So I have a Semi-butch look hm? That's interesting. I guess since I cut my hair short I suddenly went from Tomboy to Dyke because you're not the only person to have said this kind of thing. like my lesbian level suddenly shot up to over 9000 with the length of my hair. Women can't have short hair unless they are a dyke is the impression I get. Good to know that the thinking on this forum is stuck in the 50's.

Yea, I'm not posting pics anymore.

My guy mode presentation is unfortunately boring. Simple tees and tanks with bold/minimalist prints with straight leg/skinny jeans. Usually smudged smokey eyes (think Taylor Momsen punched a raccoon), and I pencil my my brows because naturally they're invisible. So think pseudo punk in Miami :)

Intended girl mode is so much better though, I take huge inspiration from McQueen, mixing hyper feminine elements with rougher harder elements. The good old leather and lace combo ;)

Think leather pencil skirts with crisp sleeveless oxfords, mega high heels and dark hose.

My current major is anthropology/women's studies but I was art BFA with an intention to do fashion illustration. This is a forum subsection I think I'll like!

My clothing style is pretty feminine, my usual clothing styles are short shorts with a vest top or crop top and below the ankle trainers, Dresses with a sweetheart neckline or low cut neckline to show off my cleavage, tights (either nude or black) and dolly shoes, or for lazy days skinny jeans with a cute jumper or top.

Those are my average wear, on different occasions, or just to spice things up i'll have a little variation, perhaps a short skirt with some over-the-knee/thigh high socks and a cute top.
as for colour I tend to stay away from darker colours unless it's a nighttime occasion, I tend to stick with pastel colours for the day and floral print dresses/tops.

and that's generally my style, I was thinking of experimenting with some more alternative styles, as one of my female friends has piqued my interest but lending me a couple of her outfits for a festival that we went to together. I'll have to look up different hairstyles and make-up to go with the style too. Yay more reading ._.

My own personal style is a combination of Rockabilly and very "Barbie" for lack of better term and also one of my nicknames.

Definitely a skirt and dress girl, not a big fan of pants. But depending on the situation and what I'm doing I will wear cargo pants, or very professional dresses. Even as a male I would wear kilts wherever I could get away with it.

I guess I'd have to say my style would change on the situation, with a primary focus on skirts and dresses. Still need to learn how to walk in heels though.

My fashion mantra as a woman is the three e's: easy, edgy and elegant. I don't like looks that are too worked over for the most part. I'm still experimenting with styles and learning what looks good on me. I'm very tall and very leggy so I have to be mindful of hemlines even in TALL sizes. I love it when a piece of clothing is multi-faceted. I have a pair of flats with an ankle strap in a nude color that are all sweetness from the front but have pointed (and painful) spikes in the back. The mullet of shoes, if you will. I'm definitely a risk taker and I've had fashion fails as a result but that's how I've learned and it's always fun. Sometimes I don't care if my fashion is on or if I've "failed," I do something because it makes me happy. I've been putting a loose belt on and hooking a fox tail onto it, to add a curious touch of femininity to my all black work clothes. Many cisgendered girls have come up to me to admire my foxtail. I think being trans and a giantess has put a spotlight on me and the only way this works is if I give myself (and the world) a show!

I've also been going for this sort of French girl vibe. The other day I wore white linen pants and a classic striped long sleeve swim shirt with a boat neck to a work gig/pool party paired it with a comfy pair of high heel sandals. It really was one of those, "is that me or the model from the Land's End catalog standing at the bow of yacht?" kind of moments. The transformative power of fashion! Let the adventure continue!

Skirts and blouses.  Fluffy skirts, long skirts, even miniskirts with leggings underneath.  I remember one time I wore my favorite white blouse and long black skirt, and a friend of mine told me that my outfit looked like the schoolgirl outfits in her country.  It was funny.  As for shoes, sandals.  Always.  Even in winter :D

I'd rather be barefoot than wear sandals. Granted, I don't know if it's due to my time in the south or my time in Hawaii, but I hate not being barefoot. Hot, cold, even in the snow, I'm barefoot when at home, with family/friends, or at a hotel. The soles of my feet are decidedly unsexy, but I don't care. :D

I have always liked the look women had in the 1950's(and a lot of the styles in the 40's and 30's) as far as dresses. I like the classic "shirt dress" so common in the 1950's, full skirt with a belt at the waist. But I do wear boots a lot, and leggings. I end up wearing leggings most of the time because I do a lot of walking.

I think I lost my mind. I bought this nude/pink playsuit, like where it's one piece with shorts and long sleeves, sheer up top and opaque below. Tough piece to negotiate when you have to pee.  ;) Anywhere, it's full on Winter here in New York so I paired it with knee high socks in a beige/gold color and black riding boots with a black tailored jacket giving the whole thing a kind of equestrian meets mod vibe. I think you can consider a look a success when you achieve that off-duty model look -even if you are freezing your ass off to accomplish it.

I like mom jeans and v-neck shirts. Occasionally I will wear flared jeans or skinny.

Dresses? I like fit and flare dresses.

I also have a favorite sweater that is flared as well.

For summer I am not sure what look I want though, and I will be full time so I have to look good!

I like Boho looking clothes... baggy, natural earth tones, and natural motifs

I used to wear country lolita before I came out, but now I'm trying to transition over to Ouji. It's really hard finding people to give/sell my old dresses to, and I'm not too thrilled about going about and buying 120 dollar Alice and the Pirates pants.

That said, if any of you are lolitas/oujis and need help with coording or finding clothes on a budget let me know! I'm best with classic-sweet styles but can dabble with gothic too. Punk is difficult for me, though...

I tend to wear plus size jeans, long sleeved top, hoodie, scarf and beanie. Mostly into grey, black and blue colours at the moment.
I call it "The Bag-Lady Look".

I would love to try more feminine styles but find that the combination of age, wide shoulders, narrow hips, long arms and androgynous features does limit my choices :( . In a perfect world I would tend to gravitate towards a Goth / Punk / Emo look. I think Naomi Rapace in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" looks amazing! Just any age appropriate clothes would be nice though.

I recently discovered the art of layering. It's super fun to put a blouse under a sleeveless dress. Really having fun experimenting with that. Also, being that I'm a parent, I've been rocking a super chic yoga mom thing even without going full-on yoga pants -pairing a tube skirt with leggings and a cropped scuba top.

I tend to wear a maxi skirt and cami around the apartment. I burn real easily, so daytime the long skirt, or leggings with anything that exposes my legs would be mandatory.  If coming out allows me to keep my job, I will wear slacks to work with a nice top and perhaps a business jacket at times. At night, all bets are off and I might opt for a short skirt (I love skater skirts)

Most of the things I wear consist of button up-shirts and jeans. I really like vintage and retro clothing so most of the shirts are patterned, paisley is my favourite. I also like scarves, suit jackets, waistcoats, etc. I'm not really a shoe person, so I just wear tan leather shoes like... everyday.

My style tends to bee a mixture. some days i just do the blue jeans sensible shoes look more for convienience than anything. But i mix it up sometimes occasionally wearing knee length dresses, skinny jeans (not blue) calf boots. all sorts really. I do tend to go for block colours as these tend to work well on me. And tops that end bellow the hip generally double layered with loose layer on top, goes along way to covering a multitude of sins :D.

Hmmm I began my journey with a very 'teen' ish look but now I'm more chill. I like skirts, but it depends on my mood.  I wear leggings, jeans or trousers most of the time. I like to wear sandals. I do not like stilettos or shoes with a whole lot of heel.
Tops I like tank tops or t-shirts, maybe a shirt and dresses. I have some cute summer dresses which I heart!

For sleeping I normally just wear my panties and a tank top. or nothing at all.

My style is jeans (skinny, jeggings, boot cut, boyfriend, flare) or leggings. Shirts, button up blouses, tunics and peasant tops. I wear skirts or dresses once in a great while to work but more often out for fun or traveling. I watch fashion blogs all the time and try to dress in the colors of the season.

I wear sandals, converses or flats at home and booties, boots, wedges or heels to work depending on the season. I feel super fortunate that i wear a size 10 shoe. I like charm bracelets and lots of dfferent types of barrettes and hair combs.

Well, you certainly do have a distinctive style, Barb. I've long been a big user eBay, too and I've noticed how Chinese sellers come up a great deal with low priced items. Living in the states I tend to avoid those, since it sometimes takes a couple of months to get things, but being in Asia already, it should work well for you.

I like to tinker around with eBay's search criteria. For awhile I was checking daily just to see what I could score for $1 with free shipping. I bought a lot of stuff that way-- clothes, hair accessories, camera gadgets, you name it. I once even bought several pairs of socks for 13 cents with free shipping. It takes a bit too much time to mine the wacky cheap deals, though, so I don't do it very often anymore.

Being in Asia doesn't mean it's cheap and easy to get stuff from Chinese sellers. Countries like philippines and Indonesia, which are around the corner have ridiculous taxes and corrupt immigration that actually makes it cheaper or the same price to have stuff shipped to the us! I once had to pay 25% import tAx + pay a broker to clear it, ++ other expenses for a dress I got from China. I almost abandoned it... Now I just order when I go to more "considerate places" like Hong Kong or Singapore or Japan (tho In Japan I just buy locally, they have so much amazing stuff!)

Being a total hippie-girl, I tend to lean towards a bohemian style...though the tight tops make me happy too!  I am sort of lucky that I work in a uniform that is pretty simple (though there is some style in it as well).  Takes half my day's decision making away...and being a little on the mellow/lazy side, that works!

Also still losing weight to my optimum and am holding off going too crazy with my shopping.  It is really tough to look at an outfit that makes your heart pitter-patter and know that in 3 months, it ain't gonna fit the way you want.  Not enough to keep me from perusing the shops!  ;D

Yesterday I tried AliExpress.com, which displays the same kinds of items available in ebay.com. The shipping cost is unbelievably cheap, as it is cheaper than domestic delivery (I live in Jeju island, South Korea).

First one I ordered yesterday.

Last August, I purchased the similar set bikini at a store near my home. The price was about US$ 40 and it was already 40% discounted as the summer was nearly ended.

The second one.

I am sure it would be at least US$ 10 at a local store here.

Regarding garter belts, the price is > US$ 10 here, even from domestic internet sites here.

I am addicted to AliExpress.com. I have ordered my favorite fashion item for winter: Suspender fishnet. I already have 4, but I need more. As I remember I paid more than US$ 15 for each piece several years ago. Now I can order 4 at the same price.

I will let you know the quality once they are delivered.

My preferences are changing.

Being hidden, before starting HRT, I loved tights, tight skirts, body con. Basically anything that was ultra feminine, taboo to men.

As I've started HRT, I'm feeling more feminine however I dress, and am moving towards more practical attire. I enjoy a tight skirt, but realize I don't fill it out quite right.  I found a wrap skirt that basically gives it a skort effect that works much better.

With my legs shaven, I care much less for wearing tights/nylons.

Will be a fun journey of discovery.

I've had good luck sourcing a variety of clothes from a subscription to GwynnieBee.  Cancelling this month due to funds, but it's been a great experience and may be back soon based on how my weight and body shifts in the coming months and years.

Yes. I like suspender fishnet, as it helps cure the unidentified skin disease on my buttocks.

I'm a Southern girl so I tend to lean more towards wearing skirts, dresses and jean shorts, the rest of the time I like to wear skinny jeans and leggings. I also like to wear boots with most of my outfits.

I lean toward a sophisticated look, I suppose, one defined by sleek lines and classic cuts. I have a soft spot for the sorts of things one my wear in an office or city setting, and for evening wear that emphasize my legs. A few years ago I discovered the joy of casual outfits, from jeans and shorts to layered tops and all sorts of fun jewelry combinations :)

I am not entirely sure.

I like long coats and tall boots, and long loose tops. I like the cuts of female suits. Sometimes I like skirts, sometimes trousers. Other times I want to wear a dress.

My ideal is to be "sophisticated" without showing off.

On the other hand part of me wants to wear leather high heeled boots and a sleeveless top and have lots of tattoos to show off, so it is a mix.

Is mish-mash a style?
Some days it is jeans/Tshirt, or shorts and a tank/cami, or Dockers and button-up shirts. Most of my girl clothes are for warm weather with bright colors and lacy or sheer fabrics. All my dresses are above the knee and suitable for twirling. My closet is about 50% boy clothes leaning towards casual or outdoor adventures.

I'm weird.  On the 26th I'll be celebrating 13 years since going full time.  Even after that time, I've worn exactly 3 dresses, none of which were my choice.   I have a bridesmaid dress from 2004, a black dress for a funeral, and a cute sundress from a trip to Hawaii.

Generally speaking, I'm in scrubs at work, and in shorts or jeans with a comfy tee during the evening/weekend.

In my opinion, especially in the early transition days, jeans were my best friend for "passing."  Many people assume that all M2F trans people are just extreme cross dressers, so they're much more critical of someone in thick makeup, a frilly dress and hooker heels shopping at Safeway than a plain jane in a pair of jeans and a tee who looks like she's tired after a long day at work.

I studied women my age who share the same interests and participate in the same activities, watched what they wore, and did the same to "fit into the norm."  MANY women never wear dresses, and putting one on may be what outs you more than anything.  (Admittedly, my wife was also instrumental in helping me to dress appropriately)

I don't think it is weird. You can gravitate towards whatever you like. My wardrobe is still a touch limited right now so...

i personally loved the shirt dresses so popular in the 50's wish they were easier to get these days. the knee length skirts were suitable for any age and those gorgeous full skirts wonderful suitable for any figure and proper for anything if made of modern permanent press materials they would be so practical and econmic to wear frequently. sure wish they would come back

My wardrobe changes a lot. Mostly tight jeans and lacy tops. My favorite shirt is a cheesecloth that I wear over a tank top that compliments what ever jeans I am wearing.
