Justin Sutherland's yellow jersey and bright orange hockey stick sit at home in a closet because he's no longer allowed to play in the Women's Floor Hockey League.
Sutherland, who is transgendered, found out via a Sept 14 email from the president, sent to team representatives and captains.
"This will remain the Vancouver WOMEN'S Floor Hockey League," wrote Tracy Wells.
This is the opposite of what I expected. In some ways, the fact that they don't want him to play means they accept him as a Man? I guess that's trying to find the good in this. I can understand why he wouldn't join a Men's team.
I don't see what the problem is with him playing, like it says further down the article, "It's not the World Series. At the end of the day, what is more important for most of our players is that we have a good, healthy, happy community."
