I asked my sister if she shaved her arms and she said no, so I figured that is not something you do, but, I just read something in a transgender newsletter that said its a must. So, do you girls shave your arms (not under arms - I shave them). I have fine blond arm hair, but still hair never the less.
I do, yes. And my legs. And my chest. The whole thing takes about 40 minutes.
yes
Arms, chest, legs on occasion. Other places......
I go through alot of razors. lol
I would sugest Spearmint tea for anyone who wants to slow down the rate of hair growth on the body.
Look it up it is real, not a wives tale.
I have been ussing it for about 8 months now and it is astonishing how much it has reduced my hair just from a daily pot of tea.
Yes I do. And the legs, under arms, chest, tummy. I don't drink a lot of tea but I have heard the spearmint tea really does work.
But I am hoping to get an epilator and go that route. I have to do it every couple of days.

Cisgirls normally don't need to because their hair isn't as thick and all over the arm as it becomes on T. I had no hair on the underside and wrist before. My arms now look like a normal guy's just from the hair growth and spread there. Does E thin the arm hair or is laser needed?
E has taken care of most of it, and I'm probably within normal gg ranges. However, i just don't like any much apparent hair, especially on the wrists and hands, so I shave or epilate every few weeks.
Sadly, yes - and while it's the part of my body which ends up feeling smoothest, it can also be the most prone to rashes the next day. I do so because I get quite long and dark hair growing there, but it does also feel nice; I enjoy having feminine wrists. :)
I am also in the 'chest, arms and legs' shaving camp, too. That devil-spawn epilator shall be allowed to do its work once hormones kick in, but the yanking of hair this thick was too much for me. Shaving makes a sorry compromise. ^^;
No... and this is where half the forum will instantly hate me. :P
I don't shave either my arms or my legs because I have almost no hair on my arms and only a tiny amount on my legs, which is also pretty fine. PAIS has some advantages I guess...
I was hairy but not hirsute. Before laser and HRT I would shave my legs, chest and stomach but never shaved my arms. I got laser treatments on my torso and legs but didn't bother with the arms. Most cis-girls have some hair on their arms. Mine has gotten lighter in color and finer and I think more sparse on E.
My sister noticed how light the hair on my arms has become and asked about it. I told her it was just the effects of the estrogen.

Definatly buy in bulk.
There is a local herbalist in Spokane. I pay about 12$ a lbs.
For some reason my arms have never had much hair on them. So I never shave them. My legs never had a lot either but it's still enough to want to shave them smooth.
There is no rule, shave your arms if you feel like it, otherwise don't.
HRT may give you less hair anyway, and when you look at ggs, some of them have quite a lot of arm hair.
It all depends on what you want.
With naturally low T, I don't have any chest hair, but some on arms and legs.
How much of this tea do you need to drink, and does it work on facial hair? That is the thing that bugs me the most. When I tweez, I get the most awful red bumps that last for weeks.
I epilate my hair like Dee. I used to have very hairy arms but the epilating helped allot.
But now the hairs on my arms have gotten much finer and lighter on HRT. So I don't have to epilate them very often.

I shave all over and it takes sooo long. I'm thinking about switching to waxing soon, I hear that helps the hair not to grow back as much.
Regular mechanical epilation or waxing will eventually make the hairs weaker and lighter on the arms (and chest). Estrogen should also weaken growth over time.

from what I have read 2 cups of tea will do the job (1 in the morning 1 in the evening)
Personaly I drink a quart of the stuff 5 days a week on average. (I try and have it 7 days a week but my hersband is distracting on weekends.)
Spearmint will not stop facial hair although it will slow its growth down.
Before HRT I used to whitch did get comments from friends. Once I started HRT I rammed most of my furry with an epilator. whenever it came back to an extent that I was unhappy with I'd ram them again.
I compaired with a natal female friend recently who knew I used to shave my arms and they were suprised to see that my arms were less hairy than there's I hadn't epilated in quite awhile.
the hairs are mostly blonde longer than peach fuzz but tolorable there are a few thin dark ones in there if they stay like that I can live with them if there are too many I will slam them with the epilator again it's similar on my chest except i'm less tolorent with those.
I tend to epilate from the neck down, but some times I shave. This includes arms.
However, if I don't have a date, I may not bother as much.
I don't need to anymore. My arms have some fine wispy blonde hairs you can see if you shine a light on them and really look close. I did use to shave it off though, b/c seeing body hair would trigger dysphoria and just make me feel gross.
I don't but it's really just preference. I'm super lazy as is with shaving so I try to keep it as minimal as possible.
nope, I kind of like the hair on my arms. It is still dark, but fine.
I find woman with a little bit of fine body hair really sexy. No idea why.
My chest hair seems to be thinning and is more of less managable. There was a time when I had shave shadow on my chest, not really anymore though. I hope in time most of it will go, particulalry my belly and butt! Jeez, just my luck to be the hairiest in the family. I think I get it from my mum ;D
I find that more often than not it is the darkness of arm hair that is so noticeable, while this means at times I will epilate/shave, if the hairs are small, but still dark I will just use some of that hair lightening peroxide stuff, so that the small hairs will be light and look more natural. If there is a single darker hair in a patch of peach fuzz I will usually just tweeze that one. I am somewhat afraid of peoples reaction, to a totally hairless arm.
That being said, my insecurity probably has no foundation, after all who looks at another persons arms that much anyway, and even if they did there is no shame in getting rid of excess hair...but that doesn't make me any more secure about it.
I shave my face, legs, arms, and tummy.
Having tried to shave them recently I can say its a bad idea... that's why I'm on the lookout for a good epilator (narrowed it down to a panasonic as no braun was available)..
Skin itching, cuts and stubble... no thanks ...
Shaving arms can be quite dangerous. Doing this, I have ended up with big dark spots where the hairs used to grow, so when I clear my arms, it will be with painful wax. And hey, this lasts longer, too. Spending one hour each day just on the arms is something I cannot afford.
I don't shave my legs, let alone my arms. I'm still experimenting with body hair removal, and I find that shaving leaves too many razor bumps and cuts, so I don't bother with it at the moment (I wear jeans most of the time anyway, and when I do wear a skirt out in public I wear tights to cover my legs.) I do bleach my arms, though, which makes the hairs fluffier and almost invisible.
I want to try out spearmint tea, as mentioned by others in this thread. I wiki'd it and now I can't help but be curious as to whether it will help me out some :)
Yes. I do.
Actually, I epilate my arms and legs, plus what's left of my chest hair (never much to begin with) and torso hair. I religiously maintain the hedges down south. Between epilations (once a month or so), I shave if I have a special event to attend.
I like my arms smooth. Actually, I like all my body free of hair, except for my head and a landing strip.
Nope. Never had any body hair to speak of - haven't even had hair removal done on my face.
The only place I can see arm hair is where the fine blond hairs sit over the black parts of my sleeve tattoo, which makes them visible.
I use Nair on my arms about every 2 weeks, shave legs, lasered face, chest and tummy. I found waxing to be too painful and the epilator made me cry :'(. But hair growth seems to be thinning.

Vexing Cait;
Have you been screened for intersex conditions?
i epilate when ever i can be bothered to remember, but things are getting finer and finer. I may just have a single laser treatment on both to see how much that thins them down. if they end up fine and blond i definitely won't bother with epilating them.
I remember once, during my punk years (I had a pink Mohawk) shaving from head to toe and everywhere in between, what a trip that was.
Now its my face, arms and legs daily but my midsection about every other day.
So to answer your question yes I do.

No, I haven't. I had this conversation with my endo the first time I saw him; he'd assumed I'd been on hormones before I came to see him, which wasn't the case.
We discussed doing some tests and sending a sample to Australia to be karyotyped, but in the end, I didn't want to know - having an intersex condition could have ruled me out for SRS and I wasn't about to let that stop me fulfilling my dreams.
Now that SRS is over, I've thought about it again, but I still don't really want to know. In some ways it might 'legitimise' my transness, but in other ways it might make me strongly question the path I took to transition. It would also set me apart from you guys and might unwillingly bring the whole 'authenticity' schism up again.
I'm happy identifying as a male who transitioned. Maybe after I die and donate my corpse to science they will find something freaky cool in my genome, but while I'm alive, I'd rather not discover that I'm any more 'special' than I already am.
And hey, what if I AM just a regular trans woman and I spend thousands of dollars on tests just to have that confirmed. What a let down!
Somewhat similar to the reasons I dont want to know and havent been tested.
I don't have thick arm hair, but after I hit 25 it seemed to get a little darker, for the past 6 months or so I've been shaving them. Even the rough and tumble car guys I hang out with from time to time haven't even noticed, glad I did it. Once I'm on HRT for a few months I'll let it grow back and see what happens. Shaving my arms was the single biggest thing my ex hated about all of this, she thought it was disgusting. O_o
~Sara
I shave my arms about once a month.
Jennifer
Not on HRT yet, I've been epilating my arms/legs since September '10. I stopped recently as it seems the hair is coming in thicker/faster. Anyone have a similar experience?
If you are on HRT then wax or epilate, that way the hairs will get finer and eventually you will not need to do either.
Caroline
Yeah, if I don't I have all this unsightly long black hairs, plus they feel nicer without hair, much like my legs after shaving. I used to use an epilator for my arms and legs, but mine died last year after having it for much of the time that I was on hormones, 8+ years, need to get me another one when I can afford it. Hurt like hell on certain areas, especially the arms and back of thighs but at least the hair stayed gone longer than with shaving, though shaving is much quicker. I shave my legs if I think I'm going to be exposing them (didn't at all during the winter since I wore jeans all the time) such as if I'm wear shorts or dress, shave my arms when the hair starts getting too long, as well as the back of my hands and fingers, armpits, chest (thankfully I don't have much hair here, just random stray ones here and there), around the nipples, my belly, as well as my butt and front private parts, not all at once though, just whenever I feel I need to. Facial hairs though get plucked using tweezers.
l shave my arms, legs, tummy, chest and face.i'm thinking about trying veet.
Yes after I exfoliate & epilate leaving my skin very soft. I started exfoliating first after Kristi suggested it for someone else-it really makes a big difference in how smooth it leaves the skin.

No, I don't shave my arms.
A couple of years ago I was complaining to my gynecologist about the hair on my arms. She stuck out her arms and showed me that she had more than I did.
I also remember my mother telling me how she and her sisters would remove the hair from their arms by holding them over the cook stove and singeing off the hairs. Ouch! Yes, she said it hurt but it got rid of the hair.
I used to have to shave them though prior to HRT, but now they are virtually hairless.
Several times in the very early stages I had my arms waxed and maybe once or twice they were shaved. However, after a period of time while on hormones, I basically forgot about the hairs on my arms and hands and the reason for this was the actually hairs where extremely thin and they lost their colour if they did at all. The same thing applied with my legs although I had them waxed professionally and more often. Sometimes I just wore stockings which solved the problem until I could have them silky smooth again. Eventually they also become extremely thin, sparse and lost their colouring and eventually I also forgot about them.
I of course also noticed that there are a lot women out there who have a lot more hair or noticeable hair than I have, so all in all I have not worried about my arms and legs for at least 21 years. Waxing or something similar is the better method of clearing them and you do not have to worry about them for at least 6 weeks or so.
Kind regards
Sarah B
Nah, and I don't think I will. I see girls at my school who have hairier arms than me.

I've been exfoliating after epilation thinking it would help close up the pores, but I'll try doing it before since I get those darn red bumps (on my face) really bad.
I use a epilator for my whole body. I have had some very good results even before starting HRT and I think a good epilator pays for itself.
i don't. i've seen a variety of women's arms, and noticed my arm hair is within normal female limits. my mom has none whatsoever. her's is so fine, you would need a microscope to see it. i've noticed the hairier arms on many asian women, italian women, and south american women.
I do. I have been doing it for ..... years. I also always show my arms.

I love my epilator too (I saved up and bought an Emjoi). I use it on my arms now and then, but my arm hair is so sparse, thin, and blonde that I often don't bother to much now.
I never had much body hair (can't grow facial hair, chest hair, etc) but I shave my arms and legs (Which are really the 2 places that grow hair) every few months to keep them hairless
Yes, shave my arms maybe every 2 - 3 weeks, I like the smooth clean feeling.
I wrote a detailed thread with the help of my laser technician about the effectiveness of hand held lasers and the 'real' thing. You might want to chase it up. Following about 8 sessions my face, chest and tummy are essentially hair free (Yipee)

can you post a link to it. I hope to start laser hair removal soon on my face professionally. trying to save up the money to do so.

I guess I'm just not that dysphoric about it. My genes never gave me much to begin with, and I'm a total hippie when it comes to women's body hair.
IMHO, though, I really don't think cisfolk pay all that much attention to arm hair. When I was shaving my own arms, it wasn't until people
felt my arm that they noticed there wasn't any hair there.

Ah I've made over 5,500 posts so I'm not sure how to find it, sorry.
But basically an IPL laser pulse out 28watts per cm into my face (as much as I'm allowed by the tech). They cost about $150,000 and are very effective when used correctly. Any hand held device fades into oblivion in comparison
