Title: That's Soy Gay!
Post by: LostInTime on December 18, 2006, 07:39:15 AM
If you have not done so, read this article first (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,8542.0.html) and then come back to this one.

Now link to another piece (http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_dana_scu_061216_that_s_soy_gay_21.htm) which addresses the one up there.

The other day my pal Gordon sent me the text of an item he found on the Right Wing Watch of the "The People for the American Way"
website about how soy is turning people gay.

So I read it, and the more I read, the madder I got. I thought a response was in order. Gordon showed my response to some other people and they encouraged me to publish it here. In the response below, I quote the original article , collected off the Christian conservative website WorldNet Daily in this blue text style. My apologies for their low editorial standards.

In the 70's, it was 'real men don't eat quiche'. I guess today it's 'real men don't eat tofu'.

Yarr! Gimme a good, bloody steak full of growth hormones anyday! I grow my manboobs the manly way.

Applauded.

The rebuttal has its biases as well ("Breastfeeding is the devil!  It's an evil plot to keep women down!")  In fact, there's some evidence that children who are breastfed turn out, on average, more intelligent and less likely to have some forms of allergies.  (I don't remember if these were controlled experiments or not; if they weren't, then there is the confounding factor that children who were breastfed probably got more attention from their parents as a whole, which could account for the intelligence difference.)
