So I decided to start this again, I hate making a new thread each week because I think it clogs up the board and I don't want to seem pushy or anything like that. Here's my newest video, a parody of birth control pill commercials and a satire of all the accessories available to us crossdressers :)

I usually try to wrap laughter around a positive message in my videos, and this one follows
that idea. There are plenty of stereotypes, both negative and positive, surrounding
cross-dressers. This interview mocks several of them, while trying to keep things
interesting. Not a lot of people in our society fully understand who we are, but I am
trying to do my part in raising awareness and acceptance. I am now out to a lot of people
and as time passes, I care less and less to hide the fact that I cross-dress. If I can
make just an iota of difference, my mission will be accomplished.
However, I never want to be uber-preachy, because I think it would make me boring, so
I try my best to take a concept and make it funny. I really hope you enjoy this video
and I hope that it can open some eyes in this world :).

That was really good.
I know you haven't asked but I'm gonna offer some constructive criticism. Mainly because I think you have something here.
Great material. Introducing yourself, at the start as a man was an excellent move. It set the tone and removed any possible doubts. Doubts just make the audience feel stupid and as any performer knows, never insult the audience.
Appearance. Your costume was entirely appropriate. Not over the top which would have been too silly. Your movements were good. Perhaps a little more, natural, movements, to keep interest. Not slapstick or clowning. That would be making fun of yourself visually. Not your style.
Delivery. Your were a bit hesitating at times, even slow. I've seen standups doing this type of act, (not transgendered), when they reach a pause or a thinking gap, they fill it with something, 'So I said to my mom, and you know what moms are like, I said, ........
Fills the gap, engages the audience.
When recounting conversations, for example, you could try to put on some of your personalities for example. You're good at that. The warm, extended Hi! Think of the stereo typed mom, the Jewish mom, the critical mom, the warm, encouraging mom, the confused mom. A different personality for different people. The supportive wife, the nagging wife, the busy wife, the loving wife.
Another prop, perhaps a bag of shopping, or a brown paper package the size of a shoe box. You just put it down, Don't mention it, it's just there as an attention grabber.
Anyway. I really enjoyed that video. I really think you've got something.

I appreciate the feedback as well. I've been doing stand-up for 3 months now but this was the first time as Jessica doing TG jokes, so they were all fresh. My regular act is much more polished, but it's tough for comics, even pros, when telling brand new material. I am going to workshop these jokes with my comedy colleagues (workshop means telling a joke and getting comedic feedback and suggestions) and as I tell them more they will definitely get better.
My ultimate goal is to perform stand-up as a guy and as a girl, doing whatever feels right that day and to mix up my act with TG and non-TG jokes, kind of like Eddie Izzard. In my local comedy scene I'm really doing well and impressing everyone, I get so much stage time which is pretty rare for someone so new.
Comedy has really helped me so much in accepting myself and allowing myself to be who I really am, a transgender person who loves both their male and female halves.
I appreciate being able to share all of this with you :)

Yes, I am definitely open to any constructive feedback, it's the only way to get better in my opinion. It's so great that more and more people are going to be able to say, "hey, I know a transgender person and you know what, they're pretty cool people".

Thank you, I really appreciate that. The set that I did in drag was not my best but I did learn a lot from that night. I have been doing stand up now for six months and that was the only time in women's clothing but I do plan to do it again soon.
