Hello hello, so I have been poking around quite a bit and am still a bit mystified as the proper course of action would entail. My end goal is to transition with HRT but I do not know whom to aproach first. I just moved to a new city 6 hours away from my family doctor and I want to start the process. Do I make an appointment with a walk-in-clinic doctor or do I go straight to a Gender Therapist with my intentions and apirations? One place (well the only that is probable for me) that I think would be a good step forward would be http://www.sherbourne.on.ca/ (http://www.sherbourne.on.ca/) Does anyone have expirence with this establishment? or can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Generally Doctors CYA and want someone other than you saying it is OK. Thus you need to begin at a therapist, who will give you a letter of recommendation for HRT. That said, some doctors will give you HRT through Informed Consent.
I would contact them and see what they might require.
Thanks, but just to clarify and I do not mean to insult our intelligence but I live In Canada, and if I do not have a family doctor I only have one other outlet and that is to speak with one in a walk-in-clinic but I am not sure if that is appropriate or if I need to speak with a family doctor...
excuse the horrible grammer
Oh I already knew you where in Canada. I looked at the web site and they do offer some counseling, if I read it right. :) But at least they can get you started in the right direction.
Thanks Janet :D I plan on contacting them first thing tomorrow and hopefully setting up some appointments. I am happy as I was begining to stress out that I could not find a decent GT to help me. I found the information here on this site. I am very greatful for all of you. Your support, stories, strength, and beauty truely inspires me to become who I really am.
