Title: Used binders?
Post by: Connorsaurus on October 19, 2010, 03:22:15 AM
Hello, My name is Connor. I'm 16, and I've been experimenting with chest binding with ace bandages for the last year or so. I've come to the realization that I am transgender, but have not had the guts to persue it for fear of family reactions. My issue; I want/need a binder. The ace bandages just don't work all that well. My problem, I have no money. I get $50 a month, but I also have to pay for my own food and clothes and such. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who maybe has some extra used binders that they could part with and send to me? I would be forever appreciative. I can not have it sent to my home, but I have a friend who will allow me to use their address. I am a 36 C chest size, if that helps for sizing.

Please let me know if you have extra binders that you could part with and ship to me.

Thank you very much.

Btw watch out for those ace bandages, you can seriously damage your ribs if you do it for too long. So many people have permanent damage due to incorrectly binding. Oh and if you do happen to get a binder from someone, smaller is not necessarily better. My boyfriend has to help me put on mine and im a pretty small dude but i got too small of a binder and that was a bad idea.

Until you can get a binder, please, please stop using the ace bandages and use two sports bras. The bandages could do all kinds of really nasty things to you and your ribcage, since ace bandages are designed to tighten every time the area they're binding moves. Get two sports bras that are "too small" then put on one frontwards and one backwards over it. The results are almost as good as a real binder and they don't get tighter every time you breathe. Naturally I've got to advise to remove any binding you've got on before you go to sleep.

I hope you're able to get this issue sorted out soon; it's hard being a teenager. Best of luck to you!

Please don't use an Ace bandage. Like others have said it can harm your ribs and also harm your lungs. My surgeon showed me a photo of a guy who binded too tightly and it broke a rib. After top surgery the guy's broken rib was very noticeable- more than before. I don't know if those things are more noticeable without moobs or not but it made this guy look really weird. So, please don't use Ace bandages because it can harm your body greatly and, if you decide to get top surgery, can make the damage look even more noticeable.

As for an alternative binder some guys have used modified back braces that were safe. Try doing a search on the forum for safer binder alternatives. Also do look into the Big Brother Used Binder Program.

I do have an extra binder, Underworks 997 medium, but I'm afraid it may be too big for you if you're just a B. I am really skinny, but have monster moobs. It's not pretty anymore, but I remember how bad it is not to have one :c (And don't worry, lol, I'm getting a new washer and dryer today, so I'll wash it super hard)

If you think maybe a medium would fit you, go measure yourself using their guide http://ftm.underworks.com/ (http://ftm.underworks.com/) and note me if you end up with a medium.

Otherwise, the two sports bra thing should work for you until you can get yourself a brand spankin' new one (Which are only around 30$ at Underworks, and I like theirs the best)

For some odd reason, I cannot view your profile to message you, but according to the website, it would fit. I must've typoed when I said I was a B, I'm actually a C. Please email me at eatingrainbows@rocketmail.com

I haven't forgotten about you. I've been sick, and my doc visit.. uh, didn't happen. He wouldn't see me. Long story. Can you wait until the 9th when I see him again? I'll know if I need every penny I find by then.

Yeah Connor, keep lookin' around. My hormone doctor turned out to be an ->-bleeped-<- so I have to wait on my therapists other choice... But I'm going to ask my parents today if I can ship it in a manila folder XD As that would be cheaper. I haven't forgotten you, my luck is just horrible this past month ><
