I'm going to be looking into laser for my face and neck soon and I'm curious what price should I be looking at?
I would also like to know..
Well I found a laser place in town and I will call and ask tomorrow. Hopefully we get some compare prices here though.
Hi Girl, I bought a pkge from American Laser. I am on 5 coming up. One more after that. But they did give me an extended 2 yr guarantee to get all other patchy areas. My pkge cost 2 grand for 6 treatments with the extra 2 years as needed. So far I am satisfied. It is a slow process. Hope this helps..Good luck...Christy

2 GRAND!!? I'll never be able to afford that!!! :'( :'( :'(
Mine costs $850 for six sessions. They allow paying per treatment rather than all at once, but it costs a little more.
£120 - $175 a session in UK.
they like to claim the machines are expensive but they will lease them at low cost.
we pay a vanity fee.
but then how much would we spend on razors and cream for the rest of our lives?
and how would all that shaving make us feel.
I guess I better get to saving then :(
I think we need to be careful of average and 'good' laser prices.
I think it should be more about what YOU want what the salon can supply and how professional are they.
I'd like lilacwoman's opinion as well here 'cos we are going through much the same in different countries. I'm in Australia. I think lilacwoman is in the UK.
OK laser is painless: wrong. it can be VERY painful. My goggles have been full of tears.
Laser is permanent: No it isn't. Even when/if you are fully cleared you may need to go back every few years. It is profoundly determined on your androgen status. To put it simply if you produce T at a level higher than GG you can have beard reduction but never removal. But case by case.
All clinics are the same? Forget it. I go to a clinic in which the therapist is a registerd nurse. She can assess my oedema and reactions. The facility is owned by an Endocrinologist. It was originally stated by him by him for women with POCS, and then of course others drifted in.
It costs me $100 per session. I need three sessions to do my face. Hence $300 a beard. This will be VERY variable. I think I lost b70% of my facial hair in the first round. I present in drab. After one complete session I'm now to shaving one day in three. I used to shave twice a day.
It feels great

my two laserists have both been trained nurses fully trained nurses who decided that working for themselves was vastly better and more profitable so at first appointment they spent time warning of the possible problems and pains and the likely results so I had no worries there.
luckily even though they have used three different machines and sometimes the stinging brings tears to my eyes I don't have any inflammation and a quick cold wash after then a light powdering and lipsticking is all I need to set off home.
my face and genital hair runs all the way from white to black via mousy and reddish and the laser just will not touch most of the lighter so I'm having lots of electrolysis.
I did look round and compare prices and costs do seem to be held at what I quoted but as I'm sure they will be leasing the machines the highish prices really are just vanity prices that we pay same as other people buy the most expensive beauty products.
I did buy and try one of the home laser kits but it just could not penetrate my white skin and in the two places where I vastly exceeded the time all I got to show for it was a small brown patch of permanent pigmented skin.
The only way I coud get it hot enough to sizzle hair was by damping stubble with baby oil so that two hairs stuck together and presented a big enough dark area for the laser to burn.
I think the lasering is effective on some hairs but I am really annoyed to have solid black ones either side of my mouth that it doesn get so I'm resgined to electrolysis for those.
As some people say they find electrolysis agony they may find lasering quite painful so getting smooth will be a real problem.
Maybe a high end salon with resident doctor who can give local anaesthetic to allow electrolysis to proceed woudl be ideal but who can afford that?
Yikes :'(
it will be best to spend a few dollars on phoning round for prices and conditions but they mostly will not tell you over the phone and expect you to go see them.
in theory market economics should work and they should lower their prices to compete or get customers in slack times rather than having staff and machine idle but I doubt if beauticians work like that.
Who knows. I have two jobs right now, and I guess my only option is to save up as much as I can and hope I can manage. :(
For what its worth I paid $400 AUD (around $380 USD) (Before anesthetic +$39) a session for my laser removal which included my Beard & Neck.
I had the choice between paying $180 with a beauty center or the $400 with the medical center & I chose the medical center as the doctor who does my laser treatment pioneered the industry in Australia and uses the top of the line Lightsheer Diode medical grade laser equipment. Also their anesthetic is bloody good, almost too good, lasts 4 hours and makes eating real awkward lol.
I had the setting ran up to as high as they recommend people can go(10 joules higher than what she normally does) at 28 and only felt discomfort in the upper lip area which was totally bearable.
I leave knowing that -no one else- could do a better job so I got exactly what I paid for & the results speak for themselves. Huge reduction in dark hairs after treatment :)
Oh and no red marks on face or pimples or anything the next day, although i think the post laser aftercare solution really helped that I kept reapplying every 2 hours which left my skin sooo smooth. Oh and they were super trans friendly and gave me awesome makeup advice to boot :) <3 <3 tg friendly businesses, makes you feel heaps better when your still in that awkward stage of transition.
I was just quoted this. I'm in Seattle, WA US

The cost for laser on a beard is $400 the first time and second time, Then it drops to $300. You pay that twice. Then $200 twice and then maintenance fee of $100 for as long as you need.
So basically we're talking $1800 USD for 6 sessions. + $100 per session after that.
I pay $75 Canadian per session, but I was looking at the prices in Toronto, and they are far higher than those of the clinics in my town (Probably because there is higher demand for laser in Toronto.), so prices differ from city to city.
Just an update.
The first round was so successful the second was done in two sessions (and they were 30 mins each),, and the second of the sessions included my chest tummy and bikini. Awesome, love the results. I hadn't realised that in the second session I was going to have chest and bikini etc, it happened because the face was so quick, and she asked if I wanted to start on another area. I have little chest and tummy hair (and of course I shave/wax) but I was wearing a thong panty, not realising that the bikini was included. I was a little embarrassed, but she didn't hesitate just said I see you shave here as well, good I can laser straight away.
Chest, tummy, bikini AUS$260.
Second beard sessions (2) total $120 ( $60 each)
So far: beard $420, the rest (one go so far) $260. AUS dollar.
Clearance, beard 80%. The rest 50%? a bit early to say 'cos it need time to grow out from the dead follicles.
Satisfaction: 100%
Professionalism: 100%
After care: 100%
So far nothing hurts like the upper lip, but second time round was a lot easier.
LOVE the results so far.

Depending on who and where. I was paying $100 a session. I have 5, and lose my job. Oh well, I know where I can get electrolysis for $65 an hour. Not as quick but longer lasting.

Awesome results Cindy and at a great price!
I can sympathize with upper lip pain...had my second session yesterday and we ran it up to 30 joules (was on 28 last time), brought water to my eyes but bearable....
Hoping to see a decent reduction tomrrow, fingers crossed, at $400aud a session I cant do it for long :P Think ill swap to electro after the third.
CA$262.50/session in Toronto as performed by a doctor/laser tech.
I did 5 sessions before switching to electrolysis since there were not enough dark hairs to nuke while being cost-effective.
Hey, I know this topic is old, but had some advice to share. Britney, keep in mind there are different options to pay for laser. If you have two jobs, and possibly some credit? American laser will probably finance you. I tried to get financed and they wouldn't finance me. But then again, I hardly make any money :/ ... Another option is taking a personal loan out. What I ended up doing, was taking a title loan out on my car. The total cost was $2500.. My monthly payments are $139, so not tooo bad. If you own a car outright, you can easily get a title loan.. Just think outside the box ;)
Good luck!
Thanks drippin :) I decided not to get laser. The laser clinic is an hour away from me and I can't afford the gas. I'm looking for some local electrolysis that I can afford.
Okie dokie :) I haven't started electrolysis yet but I'm on like my 8th laser treatment.
Pm me if you wanna chat!
Hey,
I just got back from my laser treatment consultation and patch test. The consultant was really lovely, and she didnt even bat an eyelid when I said why I wanted all my facial hair removed (bearing in mind I am currently still in full boy mode).
I know it is unlikely to do the whole job with laser alone, but it feels great to at least be getting started. It is at a very good clinic in London (The Private Clinic on Harley Street), which has a good reputation and very encouraging reviews. I was expecting the course of 6 treatments to cost a fortune, but they are offering a 30% discount on courses booked in January so it only cost me £525. That's only £87 a treatment, once a month, which thankfully is manageable for me at the moment.
The £18k for FFS is another matter though... :-/

Hi Amy
I've had three full face sessions and I'm practically hair free. I now go for top ups whenever I wish. I'v started chest and tummy as well, which is considerably less painful than the face. My first face was $250, it is now $60 and takes about 10-15 mins. The first was three sessions to cover the entire face at about 45 min a session.
The upper lip is a doozy >:-)
Cindy
Being oh HRT helps a lot with hair removal...mine cleared faster once I started mine. Colour of your hair plays a big part, pretty much all the dark hair on my face is gone...or incredibly weedy, but i have a lot of red in my natural hair colour and that doesn't work at all. I'm happy with the results, i saw an 80/90% reduction in my facial hair and I'm prepared to put up with electrolysis for the rest.
as for cost i paid £135 a session, though that did include a corporate discount
I was intent on laser, in the beginning because I've heard it clears up and electrolysis just cleans up whats left, but then I realized I only have maybe two or three small thin sections where I have dark hair. The facial hair on my upper lip is very sparse but grows in black. On my chin is thicker but all blonde. Under my chin is thinner but black. Then my sideburns and along my jaw is medium and probably a dark blonde light brown. I've never been able to grow much of a (cringe) beard so I'm pretty lucky haha. :) Plus the laser clinic, I wanted to work with them, but they're an hour away and I can't drive that far and pay so much for such little results.
I have my first laser session on my facial hair tomorrow! Hurrah! ;D
Good riddance to bad rubbish... or at least the start of it anyway.

Ok, Had the first laser session. The consultant did say the first time is the most painful, and she was right! It was more acute discomfort than proper pain, but still not something you want every day...
My face is quite red and blotchy in places, but I only got back from the clinic in the last hour and they said it should calm down over the course of today and tomorrow. Fortunately I am at work on my own today...
All in the name of beauty!

Did she suggest hydrocortisone cream? You can get it from the Pharmacist. I only need it o'night from the 'blast' and remember to use sunscreen on the new area. It hurts in such a lovely way? I loved it and look at the mirror for ages , BTW it takes a number of days before you see the effect. If you can don't shave.
Hugs
Cindy
I've been using Viss IPL which I bought online. It cost me 500 dollars, and it comes with w light bulb that gives me around 4000 shots.
I realize the results aren't permanent (the hair gets really fine, though) so I said I might as well get something that I can use whenever I see some hair growth. I've used it on my arms, underarm, legs, face and torso. The recommended treatment is 2 years (every two months) before you can go to twice-a-year sessions.
Seems to work just fine.
I'm going to American Laser Center; I saw they're add on FB for $300 off.
The original quote for my face and neck was going to be $3200 for a 2-year treatment. When I was denied financing, I said sorry, can't do it. They then gave me an additional discount with the total being $2500 with a $500 deposit and then $200 monthly payments. In May, I'll be making my last payment even though the treatment will continue for some time after that.
So, two days on, one side of my face has calmed down completely, but the other side still has some angry looking blotches and a little blistering, especially on my neck. My guess is they did one side on a higher setting, and having realised they were bbq'ing my face, turned it down a little for the other side! Also, as I havent shaved since the treatment, to give my skin a chance to recover, I noticed that I have a lot more grey hair in my beard than I previously noticed... :-( It has been such a long time since I let my stubble grow for longer than a day, it has kind of crept up on me. Boo, and indeed Hiss.
So another 5 sessions of laser followed by some electrolysis for the grey ones.. Ho hum.
Amy.x
I pay $175 per session. They always run buy 4 get one free. I missed my last session due to no cash. Hello tax refund....
So its been about 3 weeks now since my first laser session on my facial hair, and the results are remarkable. After just one session my beard growth has halved, and when I shave I actually look rairly clean shaven! (instead of the perma-shadow that was there before!) My skin has completely recovered too, which is a relief as it was looking pretty awful for a few days.
Got to book the next appointment for early March. :-)
Amy.
I've had 6 full face treatments and an extra 3 top lip treatments, playing almost £1000 in total, from a medium distance you couldn't see any hair and even from close up there's nothign much to see as I pluck all the visible white hairs (and a few dark hairs) on a morning and put on a bit of slap just to give the old mush a more even look, but from very close up a few annoying hairs become visible by the end of the day
