Kathleen Winter's debut novel Annabel is on the shortlist of all three major competitions of the 2010 Canadian literary season: the Governor-General's Literary Award for English-language fiction; the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize; and the Giller Prize. Her first collection of short stories, boYs, was the winner of both the Winterset Award and the 2006 Metcalfe-Rooke Award. A long-time resident of St. John's, Newfoundland, she now lives in Montreal.

Pitch: You have 30 words, tell us about your latest book.

Wayne is an intersex child raised as a boy, his girl side hidden even from himself. This is the story of his transformation to wholeness.
