Title: New guinea pig coming soon!
Post by: Raven on October 23, 2010, 11:11:17 PM
My sister in law has a guinea pig that's expecting and she's going to give my daughter one of the babies for x-mas. I'm exicted, and can't wait! I'm gonna spoil it rotten and teach him or her to play dead and whatever else I can teach him or her! I'll have to put up pics of it after it gets used to me and my little girl :) haha I ought to let it hide in my hair as I did with all the guinea pigs we've had lolz. I don't what it is but for some reason they love hiding in my hair lolz. And I know my mom will tease me about it because I treat animals like a baby heh. Anywho, yea that what I'm all happy about yay!

HA.  Like she is giving it to your daughter.  She will never see it because you will be playing with it.

And yes you have to post pictures.

Awesome. Can you teach guinea pigs stuff? I used to have one until she passed away about two years ago. We didn't teach her anything; I guess we didn't think they could learn stuff like a dog, for instance, could. Oh well, have fun with your daughter's guinea pig when it arrives.  ;D

Thanks to you both! Yep you sure can teach guinea pigs tricks, it isn't hard to do. Just give them time to get used to you first of course. With me when I teach them how to play dead, I just hold in my hand gently but firm enough to where they wont fall. They tend to wiggle when you do that though, and tell em dead, and it may take a few trys at first but after a while they learn what it means and will go limp in your hand for a couple seconds. To teach them to come, you may want to start out offering them treats like fruit or lettuce, and tell them the command and as with dead it may take a few tries before they figure it out. But every guiena pig has a different personility, so get to know your little friend first. But yes it can be done. @ Janet, true true lolz but she will see it I promise. I just got to watch her though, she's only two. Oh I forgot they can also be taught to give kisses.

She is, she's what keeps me going. My pride and joy. She looks just like me I swear. Maybe sometime I will put up a pic of her. I just know one of these days she's gonna break some poor guys heart lol.
