Sometimes when I'm sitting down I'll cross my legs, do any bio guys do this?
It's taken as an effeminate quality, but yes, bio men do indeed cross their legs.
I don't do it all of the time but when I'm nervous or uncomfortable then I cross my legs.
I do. But then again I'm trans.
But ehm, I've seen many kinda manly guys do it. They do it differently from girls though - the knees usually don't seem to touch each other. Usually seen in intellectuals.
My knees usually don't touch but if I'm in a tight space they do.
Bio-guys place one ankle on top of the opposite knee. Guys take up space, they seem to spread out.
yeah they definitely do, but seen as effemenite sometimes. unless its just cause theyre Italian lmao. (i believe im allowed to say that since i am italian, and cause like my whole italian side of the family guys are always goddamn crossing theyre legs lol)

This is what I do. My dad does it, too, so when we sit next to each other, both looking at our phones, it looks so weird xP
But yeah, when men cross their legs they usually put on ankle on top of the opposite knee. I guess taking up space is a masculine thing? I don't know. Guys at my school also stick their legs out in front of their desks, which is kind of obstructing, but I guess they're trying to let people know that that's their space.
Yes. I've noticed Brandon Flowers of The Killers does a lot.
I cant sit cross legged. I have to force my legs to stay that way. I just tried it, I can't get knees near touching. I have poor flexibility. I remember in high school gym class we had to stretch as far as we could and reach a board that had a ruler on it. I couldn't reach the board. I have a hard time with Indian style too.
Yes they do, I never cross my legs and never have, I dont know, it just doesnt feel right to me. Ive even seen bio guys who cross their legs the feminine way though.
Maybe it's a British thing, or a middle-class one ... but yes, in my world guys cross their legs ... and not always in the ankle-to-knee splayed-out way. But ere are always postural differences in, say, the placement of hands, or the way men will often lean back a little as they do it, whereas women tend to sit more upright. It's a big generalization, but by and large men will try to maximize the physical presence whereas women minimize theirs to seem, respectively more masculine and feminine
I understand that the not crossing legs tightly thing is supposed to imply little johnny is big enough that "ladylike" leg crossing irritates him. Whether leg-crossing is feminine or not depends on your location and the circles you travel in. In my case it's feminine and should be avoided LOL.
My very masculine dad used to cross one leg over the other. It sort of bothered me a little when I was growing up. I've always preferred ankle on knee, myself. I find it more comfortable.
Some of the men in my discussion group cross their legs. But then, they're gay. :P
Yeah, my best friend does it all the time. More than I do. But then, he's very very very gay.
It used to be somewhat more common for men to do it - in fact, crossing legs at the knee was actually seen as unladylike (and that's what I was taught growing up...old-fashioned manners in my family). If you watch old TV/movies you'll see a ton of guys crossing their legs at the knee when they sit. Younger guys now tend to take up more space, slouch more, and sit in a more relaxed posture - it's rare to see a young straight guy sitting upright with his legs crossed at the knee. But it still happens. If you do it, make sure you're packing, because it tends to make your...package...fairly obvious.

Yeah i'm from the UK and see this all the time. My dad's a masculine guy but crosses his legs at the knee.

Since when was crossing legs a women's thing? Give yourself a break. Men do cross their legs. However, not totally, generally they cross further down the leg and have their upper leg horizontal rather than crossed at the groin with the upper leg faced down towards the ground. This is for obvious reasons.
Many bio-guys in my class cross their legs. Then again, my class pretty much consists of nerds and eccentric intellectuals. We have two male Twilight fans, several guys who watched The Powerpuff girls when they were kids, and no "macho men".
The "manly macho man" guys in my previous school sat with their legs in the ankle-to-knee way. The kind of guys who were very vocal against "->-bleeped-<-s, ->-bleeped-<-s, the immigrants, etc".
I sit with my legs crossed sometimes, and then the ankle-to-knee position if I'm sitting on, say, a park bench and reading. It provides a nice sort of "shelf" for the book to lie upon. I don't pack, so I s'ppose it looks a bit odd, but who cares?
i know a straight cismale who crosses his legs? and sits in various strange positions on a regular basis. i don't see why it matters, you're a guy, you cross your legs, so yes, there are guys that cross their legs.
Plenty of bio guys cross their legs at the knee. Including heterosexual guys, and even some who are homophobic Republican types. It's pretty common among guys I know. But it does seem to vary depending on the culture or group of people, as has already been pointed out.

Yep tons of bio guys do this. Like people are saying it is more of a gay guy thing to cross at the knees. It's more hetero to do the ankle-knee cross.
I myself ALWAYS do the knee crossing, but then again, I'm gay lol. ;) I also find it SUPER uncomfortable to cross ankle-knee. I feel like it puts a lot of strain on my knee joint, but that's just me.
I'll pitch in my vote for the ankle on the knee cross, though it does tend to make my upper foot fall asleep on me =/
I usually do put my ankle on my knee, I rarely ever cross my legs like a girl but sometimes I do and I don't want it to be a give away that I'm biologically female.
I cant cross my legs, its VERY uncomfortable for me! It always has been. But my dad crosses his legs a lot. I dont really think it matter though, whatever makes you comfortable
Crossing legs isn't only for women, you see straight guys do it on talk shows, and my dad, a tough bushman, does it all the time.
I've seen plenty of guys cross their legs.
Personally, I do it because it's comfortable. I don't do the ankle-on-knee thing because it hurts my ankle and my knees to do it.
There is also a high component of both (social) class and clothing. A bunch of lawyers sitting around in suits at the Pacific Union Club sit very different from a bunch of longshoremen hanging out at Bouncers after work.
When relaxing I often place one ankle on top of the other, crossing my feet. Many guys in my surroundings do this. I also sit with one knee on the upper leg often, but it is quite rare for me to see other men sitting like this. I never sit with my ankle on my knee.
It is considered more effeminate by North Americans than by Europeans. Most guys cross their legs in the same way as women on this side of the pond.
Caroline
I've tried crossing my legs all the way but it's just not too comfortable for me. I'm a fan on the ankle on opposite knee position.
When you guys mean crossing legs do you mean at the ankles, cause i do that. Any other type of crossing just aint gonna work. Im a little on the plump side, thighs dont cross so well at 224 pounds.
i do it all the time and have many male (some straight) friends that do it too and never had any problem with it
Read your post and thought "Nah, I don't do this" then I at my legs I have up on the table and realize they're crossed at the ankle lol guess I do. Usually do the knee crossing thing though.
Erocse and his father both bounce their foot up and down as they cross their legs at the knee. They always have. :)
back in my years at an all girls school I remember a guy came in once and he said that we should pay attention to how our postures change the longer he talked to us. He suggested that when we cross our legs we might be associating the emotions of distrust, caution and/or pondering for the current situation. Because of this I'd like to think that this position is not overly feminine, however it's still considered (at least where I am) for a girl to spread he legs and relax. That's a 'guy thing."
They do it, but its considered feminine

depends where you are in the world and how old you are.
Younger people tend to think it's feminine but my dads in his 40s and very masculine and he crosses his leg at the knee and so do alot of people I see that are about his age.
Come on guys; everyone knows that real men relax like this:

Man, and I thought binding was hot. That costume has to be awful hot to relax in. That's one heck of a way to relax though!

He can handle it because he has
a little alot of Captain in him.
Heh, wouldn't that make him warmer, Radar?
Not after he reaches the point he doesn't care.
Some do. Men will typically cross their legs by putting one ankle up on their other knee forming a sort of leg triangle while women typically will go knee to knee/thigh to thigh.
at least thats my general thoughts on the whole thing
I was in a movie theater today, and the rest of my row was full of college to middle aged women. (The film was about a lesbian ballroom dancer, and the theater was mostly full of women.) Looking down the row, I realized that I was the only one without my legs crossed. Everyone else had their left knee crossed over their right one.
Depends on how inherently Alpha they are....
I once had a sail instructor... who used to sit legs wide a kimbo.... and he'd wear khaki shorts with his crown-jewels oft on display...
And yes when he was around women he fancied knew exactly what he was showing.....lol And would grin accordingly....
