Title: I can't do my freakin' laundry
Post by: V M on October 24, 2010, 09:53:39 PM
I was loading my laundry in the washing machine at my apt.s and guess who should show up? Bluto!!!

He's gotten in my laundry before and some of my panties have come up missing... Plus I caught him dancing about with my panties on his head one time

Anyway, he said something weird that I didn't understand and had a psychotic look in his eyes

I just grabbed up my laundry to do later, maybe somewhere else

Should I be afraid? I've been attacked before... Maybe I'm just over reacting to the situation... But still... I want clean clothes

This has happened more than once... For awhile he had a thing for peeing on my stuff

:P

If he has gotten in to your belongings, you may be wise to go else where to do your laundry.  Or get a can of pepper spray and do it there.  And just stay with it.

There are things in life, laundry being one, that any 'interesting' or 'odd' story about will never have a good outcome.

Perhaps a talk with the building management is in order? Is there no legal recourse for this?

Is that one of those "confuse us say" things?

It's in my apt. complex... A laundromat would cost twice as much... But if he pisses on my stuff again it will cost twice as much or more anyway

The mgr. is well over retirement age and doesn't want to be bothered... I may be able to complain to the mgt. co. though... But they are in another city miles away and are disconnected from what's going on here and will just see me as a complainer

yeah, something similar happened when i lived in an apt complex with my mom. these bitches that lived up stairs from us kept sabotaging us and our laundry. putting bleach or dirt in the dryer, stuff like that. we talked to the apt owner or w.e. and got them evicted, haha. but i know you answered about it already, but you should try to get something done about that, especially because he could be seen as like a predator or w.e., especially since you're a woman, and its just creepy. i'd try to get something done if i were you though, definitely, cause thats not cool.

if you threaten to sue the management company for allowing this intimidation and especially sexual things like stealing your undies then they will sit up and take notice really quick.

Frankly, touching your underwear and putting them on his head is a sexual assault.

That's why it is important not to leave clothes unattended. I would bring a book with you to read while your laundry is going. I don't care how nice or crappy an apartment or laundromat is, I don't trust leaving my clothes unattended and will not do so. Good luck.

One of the ladies there that I'm friends with likes to sit in the lobby and read... (She doesn't like the guy either) She sits where she can see the dryers

So I just waited until she was out there reading and did it then... He won't dare mess about if she's out there

It just kinda sucks that someone has to play guard dog... My friend told me that other ladies have had trouble with someone getting into their laundry (part of the reason she sits out there)
but they haven't been able to catch them yet

LOL... Panic at the laundry   Oh well... It's a crazy world  :P

Be nice if you could club together to get one of those tiny video camaras.

With a decent card, they can run for ages. The picture and sound quality is incredable. I bought one a while ago. Sadly, my wife got hold of it and I haven't seen it since.

But those can be easily hidden somewhere. A video is worth lots of witnesses. This guy is seriously creepy and needs to be dealt with.

A few of us have talked to the mgr. about getting a small cam. to put in there and she likes the idea but she hasn't been able to convince the property mgmt. co. to give her the funding for it  :-\

Don't forget to take a ZAPPER & big Knife.

Sorry-Bad Joke. He is obviously trying to intimidate you and it is harrassment. If he is mentally unstable you can't afford to take any chances with him. Constant vigilance is called for here. Be careful!

i'm thinking more along these sort of lines:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=394409 (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=394409)

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=285263 (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=285263)

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=256541 (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=256541)

This is a British site, so it's just information. But these products should be available in the US.

They are cheap. They do the job and you get to keep them afterward.

The last one is the one I bought.

Seems to me, the building owners might not bee too keen on getting involved. This way, you do the job yourselves

Would be nice if there was away for me to tell where you people live, but here in the US you will get busted for wiretapping... unless you put up a sign that reads "This area is being monitored by video surveillance" or something along those lines, and that in itself is a deterrent rendering the recording of video pointless...

I have been corrected, please don't respond to this post.

You only get busted for wiretapping if your picking up voice recordings, besides a laundry room is considered 'public' and not 'private' under the law, and you would not have a reasonable expectation of privacy in that area.

Again, laws vary by state/country, but video surveillance is considered wiretapping here in America regardless of whether sound is recorded and private individuals must give consent either in the form of active agreement to be recorded or in being advised that recording is in progress. The fact it is public property is what makes this true. Wiretapping is not illegal on private property because random people should not be wandering around there...

Anyway, this may be a reason why property management has refused to install a camera.

There are video cameras all over SF, I bet I can walk 10 blocks and constantly be on one of them, tons of them in public not a sign on a one of them.

Signs are not required in public areas.  There is no expectation of privcy in areas that are open to the general public.

Whoops, looks like I was wrong, it's only wiretapping if there is audio recording. Sorry.

Theft and stalking come to mind.  Play the misunderstanding card and talk to the property manager, let them know you have the grounds to report it to the police if the situation isn't resolved - follow through on the threat if you need to.

Most states allow video/audio recording as long as one party is aware of the recording (that would be you).  For that matter, how to all the TV stations get away with their "undercover" reports if it were illegal?

Good point and I didn't think about it. Sorry again for the misinformation.
