Title: Has anyone had any complication from FFS with Dr Spiegel?
Post by: adaralove on October 26, 2010, 06:21:24 PM
I am just wondering if anyone else had complications from FFS with Dr Spiegel in Boston,
I just had FFS a little over a month ago and now that the swelling has gone down I am starting to freak out
because I am finding all kinds of little things I hate and I think were the result of a poorly performed procedure.
I am scheduled to go back in 2 weeks to see him, he agreed to see me after sending a few pictures to his office.
Anyhow if anyone else has had complications or needed a revision would you please email me or post
your experience?
Thanks!

I had brow contouring/shaving, with brow lift , orbital rim shaping and rhinoplasty (Nose)
my concern is now that all the swelling has gone down my nose is crooked and has 2 bumps making it look like its broken.
My right eye brow seems higher and in totally different position than my left eye brow, the high of the arches are in a different position in relation to the eye ball.
and my right eye lid is droopy. Something is very different on the right eye and the right side of my face looks a lot different than the left side of my face very asymmetrical.
I think I got too much orbital rim shave in the right eye, I can see the bone is rounder and smaller than my left eye.
Also my forehead is very bumpy like the shaving of the bone was not done smoothly , I have grooves and round isles that are deeper than the rest.
I am just horrified and I look pretty bad compared to before the surgery and I don't mean swelling I had a lot of swelling after the surgery which is normal but the asymmetries is what
concern me the most, I would hate having to go through this all over again or worse yet be disfigured for life now.

I am just wondering if anyone else have bad results. He has agreed to see me next week after much begging which I feel should not have to do after everything I went through and the kind of of money I paid him for this operation.
I am very disappointed and surprised because I could not find one bad review and he has such a good reputation as a surgeon and he was always very polite, nice and confident about his skills as a surgeon. I can not reconcile looking at my face and then reading all the good reviews, I have to say I got a very sloppy job maybe rushed I don't know but is not what I was expecting.
anyhow I hope your FFS goes well..

Thank you hun for the offer.. that is very kind of you! I will just wait until I see him next week and see what solutions he can come up with and based upon that I will proceed accordingly. I f you like I will privately send you before and after pics so you can judge for yourself.
There is definitely something that went very wrong.

I finally got to see him and he agreed that there is something wrong with the way my nose looks and he is going to do a revision, he told me its an easy fix and will be done in the office with local anesthesia however I am a bit skeptical about this but I'll go along with it. I have to see see him again in Dec to give more time to heal and see what the final outcome is before starting to change things again I just hope the other issues do resolve on their own or I will have to bring them up on my next visit..

He didn't go into specifics he said it would be a small incision and can easily be done in his office with local anesthetics. This worries me too! lol.. I don't want a half ass revision ..!
anyhow
can you please tell me how to find that Yahoo group? I was only able to find 2 groups for FFS on Yahoo one is a DR O group and the other seems like there hasn't been an activity in a long time.
There is one more to which I applied but never got a reply.
Thanks!

I'm aiming to have my FFS end of Jan....in the US....

So hope all goes well for you guys.....

Any or all of em can have problems.... just the nature of procedures ma dears..... but to err on the side of caution me thinks is the most prudent approach...

And less is more as they so rightly say.....

I'll let you know whom I go with.... and what the outcomes are.....

But hope the revisions bring you some solace and relief!

Cheers

Yikes! And here I was just about to book an Apt. with Spiegel... Ah!

Yes, please keep us updated as to what happens. I would be mortified.

I got binned orf the Yahooie FFS clan.... due to challenging the fact that I was kept on huge delays before my posts ever went through.... and was hijacked off without any consultation.....(nice)

This was after sticking up for a newbie who was pi##ed re the same turgid schoolyard style politic.....

I gleaned more or less all I needed to know....anyways!

(But there before/after photo bank is useful)

And I'd agree consult with as many Doc's as you can....

I did not go to Speigel, but I recall thinking my eyes looked assymetrical and one was droopy.  But the droopiness went away on its own within a few months.  They say it can take a year for everything to settle out.
