I want to help by offering affordable, accessible healthcare (including surgery). yeah I'll be in student loan debt up my ass for it, but it's for a greater good :).

I went to my first LGBT event this last year. I was nervous to go. When I got there , there was a lady called the "Hugs Lady"  She was greeting everyone with a hug. I am such an introvert, I tried to sneak passed but she saw me and gave me a great big hug. I couldn't believe it, a hug from a complete stranger. It felt so good and meant so much to me. I still think about it from time to time. :)

At the next TG Event . I am going to be the "Hugs Lady". So what I would like and what I can give the Transgender community is a great big hug !!!  :-*

Fabulous idea.  I normally avoid support groups due to the lack of action and abundance of complaining and then realized this is an area I can help.  I realized I am the only person who wakes up good or bad, happy or sad with me.  Why should I care what some hillbilly who I never knew and will never see again cares about me?  We did not chose to be transgender, but we can chose how we manage our life.

Just as Erocse point out we need to welcome and encourage each other.  Most of our sisters are afraid, insecure and alone.  Just a simple smile, hello and hug elevates her confidence, acceptance and emotion acceptance.

Be Bold, Be Proud, Be Yourself.

While I understand the intention of offering finance, if I can do anything it will be to encourage more acceptance of transgendered people. Especially when they are still children.

I doubt there is enough finance in the world to help everyone and in any case, I doubt there are enough surgeons.

But with better acceptance, transgendered people, even before or without surgery, will be happier and more secure within themselves. They will be able to earn a decent living, given better opportunities and be more productive employees.

One of the principal reasons I take so much exception to those that seek to marginalise people, for whatever reason, is the negative effect upon the economy.

The basis of the free enterprise system and democracy is that people must be judged upon what they do, not who they are.

These people who rant about old values are destroying a large part of our economy. It's perhaps time for those in the respective, responsible positions to take a stand for democracy and free enterprise and stop the unnecessary and counter-productive harassment of people for whatever reason.

If I could I'd set up a non-profit organization which would work with human rights organizations to do some of the following;
- Help trans-folk get out of truly dangerous situations.
Asylums for those who come from countries where transition will most probably cause them to be brutally killed.
Housing for trans-folk who're kicked out for coming out.
Stuff like that.
- Increase awareness.
Offer education to people of all walks of life, in every country possible.
Run a campaign via advertisements and pamphlets where possible.
- Work towards getting equal rights.
Preferably with the help of glb and feminist organizations as equal rights should be for "everyone".
Work the political lobby.
Support those politicians who support our cause.
Stuff like that.

'course, that stuff's expensive, so I'm doing blog entries and interviews in my tiny home country for now.

I think i would offer my time to create projects in schools to raise awareness. Probably by creating teaching material and by giving the class myself.

I already do a bit, I guess... A regular in the local support group, advocate for our civil rights, my YouTube channel, and I try to connect TG people with employment here & there.

Miniar - I agree about a non-profit.  I actually just started "Be Bold Be Proud"  a Non-Profit Transgender Equality organization, Be Bold Be Proud received the State of Texas NPO status this month and it has just begun.  Any help in spreading the word would be so much help.

Pretty much the same as Alexia. If I was more book smart I'd go into psychology or Psychiatry and do free counseling for transgender teens and adults on the side.

I live in a rural area, and am in the process of selling my house. I hope to get something with a smaller mortgage, if any, and will probably  have to settle for a bush block to do that.

It would be nice to be able to build a cabin to offer to TG folk for short breaks.

If I had the resources, I would love to find a way to help people afford at least HRT or a psychologist or both.

Thanks Erocse and Spacial :D I went for getting an associates in Criminal Justice to become a law enforcement officer since it'll only take me two years of college. I'm about one year in. If I absolutely hate that I'll probably go for the psych degree. Thanks for the encouragement gals. I figure I just want to make a difference during my lifetime, maybe I will as an officer.

If I had the funds I would establish a transition house for all of our brothers and sisters who find themselves kicked out of their homes.

And I would try to establish it in ever major city in the world.

I was having problems with money because of an unexpected purchase of a new house, but now I'm back on track. Steady freelance contracts and all the funds carefully diversified to various mutual funds, investments, and managed forex. I do see a better... a secure future for me now.

If I could help the community it will be specialized clinics without a doubt. Once I have successfully transitioned all the way in the next few years, I do plan to invest and develop such clinics. Not under my name though, a proxy for sure. My plan is to focus is on transsexuals not really the TG community as a whole. I already outlined few things for my legal advisor to look through.

- Free evaluation and therapy for minors.

- Free HRT for minors who are truly classified as transsexual.

- Health care with partner hospitals.

- FFS, SRS surgeries, voice therapy, voice surgery, and rehab.

- Help with maintaining stealth.

- Research on shoulder, hands, rib cage, and hips feminization.

- Research on re-inventing the whole concept of SRS to be more real.

- Up to 30 year low interest EMI credit account for all services payable as long as they have a good job and decent credit rating. If they don't have a good rating, they can still get credit as long as they get an another creditor.

- All of these backed by a series of businesses that contribute a fair share of donations. Restaurants, Web hosting businesses, fund raisers etc.

These all are my plans, but my legal advisor thinks I'm too much of an idealist. Will see  :-\

I think that free or more affordable therapy for young TG people would be amazing. It seems that the earlier people are able to discover their GID the better off they are in their pursuit of life, love, and happiness.  ;D

My best friend and I have been talking about starting a non profit to help all TG peoples in all situations of their lives including funding for their transitions and SRS. Plus in the future I plan on getting involved in the legal aspects concerning the oppression and discrimination towards the TG community. I have done some legal work in the environmental area but it's all pretty much the same just different topics and research. There have been some very important key legal issues that those that say they fight for us are missing or just do not care about. But as with anything the money is the big thing in getting started.

If I had one hundred million dollars I would keep five hundred thousand for me and the rest would go to my non profit.

Have a peachy day, Jalene

With the Aussie Dollar at $1.16 US, and the depressed US house market, it is now practical to buy a house(s) over there.

As I will be downsizing soon I am now seriously thinking of buying one or more properties in the US.

If I did this, would it be lawful to try and restrict leasing to TG folk?  I have seen references here to how some  landlords react, and would like to help out.

I would probably be looking at areas in the Sun Belt, West Coast and Rocky Mountains, as it appears these are the best places to buy.

If it is not possible to be selective going through a real estate agent, would  it be possible to contact potential tenants on-line?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If I had the time on retiring (finally)

And depending how far down the energy decline curve we descend and what kinda civil society is left...

What sorta Banking system we still have left?

I would instigate a new charitable trust, and fund management group – that would select best deserving candidates each year for assisted surgical/psycho therapeutic help...with and emphasis on gender dysphoric children....from less affluent nation's households...

And I would also make a point of encouraging the dozen top-flight GRS surgeons to all donate two weeks or so of their surgical skills time to a not-for-profit hospital group– who'd donate the operating facility so as to afford the expertise to those that might otherwise never experience or directly benefit from it...

Oh and I forgot to add why I would be emotionally prompted to do this... ??

Three minutes in this clip tells you why....

20/20 "My Secret Self" Part 4 of 5 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSkQlWUX_eI#)

How after knowing what this feels like, can any of us not want to help out...

Thank Cruelladeville. I have that video saved but rarely watch it as it is so heartfelt.

What little Riley is going though is what it's all about really.
